Common Questions and Answers about Nuvaring and condoms

nuvaring

Avatar n tn I am also allergic to latex and tried the NuvaRing and had quite a severe latex allergic reaction to it. I ripped my Gyno a new one after that happened. I understand that it's technically latex-free, but it contains the same main ingredient as latex (which is what caused the reaction) and I feel that needs to be mentioned on the box at least.

7535508 tn?1391720305 So I got my nexplanon removed march 4th, I went and got the nuvaring. Needless to say I forgot it in my car for a few days had intercourse with hubby then remembered I had not put in my nuvaring... dumb me I know!!! Now for almost a week ive been having pregnancy symptoms.. like double the intensity I had with both my children. Ive been readin online and it says to effectivly switch from implant to nuvaring it needs to be in for 7 days before implant removal.
Avatar f tn Throw the ring away and choose 1 of the 2 options below: 1. Insert a new ring immediately. This begins the next 3-week use period. You may not have a period but you may experience breakthrough spotting or bleeding. 2. Have your period and insert a new ring no later than 7 days from the time the previous ring was removed or expelled. This option should be chosen only if the ring was used continuously for the preceding 7 days.
Avatar m tn I've been on Nuvaring for 5-6 months now and I've skipped my period for 2 months now but I keep on spotting so I want to have a ring free week where i'll have my period, now that I want to have my period, will I still be protected from pregnancy for my ring free week even though I've been using the nuvaring continuiously to skip my period?
Avatar f tn It is possible, yes. With NuvaRing, you need to use condoms for a month for it to be fully effective. However, you are definitely playing with fire. It makes no difference if you ovulate a few days later, as sperm last 5 days on average in the female body and 7 in perfect conditions. While calenders are helpful, they are by no means exact. It's safer to assume there is no safe time. You need to wait 2 weeks and take a pregnancy test with first morning urine.
Avatar n tn I just looked up Nuvaring and it looks like chest pain and numbness on one side of the body are side effects. http://www.medhelp.org/drugs/NuvaRing/show/3399 I don't know if you would typically experience these symptoms so quickly though.
Avatar f tn I took the pill Sunday and Monday. However Monday night I had unprotected sex and he came inside of me. This was the day after my 3 week period ended. My questions are A. Because of my long period when would I have been ovulating? And B. Am I pregnant? C. do i have to be ovulating to get pregnant I have no signs or anything but I do know it's early and because of the new birth control I really don't know when I will start my period or if it will be my actual period or spotting..
Avatar f tn I'm nearly 51; periods are irregular, are getting lighter and further part, and I no longer get PMT. I've also learned recently that I have a severe bicornuate uterus. I've recently started a new relationship; he has trouble with condoms, I don't want to take the pill (causes continual bleeding for me), I don't want a coil because of the uterine abnormality and my GP has told me that my chances of getting pregnant are very slim.
Avatar f tn birth controls not 100%
Avatar f tn LEGALLY your mother can't force you to get the shot. IT can make you gain weight, I put 50+ lbs on with it. Personally I'd suggest the Nuvaring if it's an option. I spent 3 months on it and LOVED It! The reason is Nuvaring is low dose, you won't normally put weight on with it, and it's easier than a pill and you don't have to remember it every day the same time.
730826 tn?1317943334 Ive been on alesse, yasmin, and now nuvaring. Though I love how easy nuvaring is, I think it is to blame for my nausea. I can never remember to take the pill so its out. Condoms are a no go, as are diaphragms. No shots or IUDs. Is there anything left? If I have to I can stick it out for the next 7 months as Im not as sick as I was when I was on Yasmin. Id just rather something that doesn't make me sick.
Avatar f tn My choice was between the IUD and nuvaring.
Avatar f tn She told me that the oral pill would metabolize through the liver much faster on Modafinil and so she put me on the Nuvaring. (I thought that would be metabolized the same way- but I’m no doctor)! I just went to get a new Nuvaring at my pharmacy and the pharmacist told me the same thing, that Modafinil will affect my birth control. If there is an option where I am protected?
Avatar f tn d like the Nuvaring, you get your period and insert it for 3wks, remove and repeat the process! Very easy, and not noticeable during sex. It helped me until I was ready to get pregnant. After babies born I'm going back on it!
Avatar n tn The pill, patch, or NuvaRing are all hormonal contraceptives that prevent ovulation and regulate your periods. The pill has to be taken every day at the same time, so if you don't think you can do it, go for the patch or NuvaRing.
Avatar f tn I plan on exclusively breastfeeding and getting my partner to use condoms. I actually got pregnant with this one on the pill, and I don't like the way my body reacted to the depo shot. After 9 months of pregnancy I want to give my body chance to heal and my hormones to get back to normal before I start putting fake hormones in there.
639543 tn?1297027634 We used the Creighton Model of Natural Family Planning (basically checking for CM and avoiding sex during our "fertile window") with condoms. Because my mom (and I believe her grandmother) died from breast cancer, BC pills put me at a higher risk of developing it, plus I just don't agree with many forms of BC but that has no bearing on what you choose to do.
Avatar f tn t like regular condoms use the new Trojan Ecstasy (i love them) or get on birth control (NuvaRing perhaps) but remember it dosen't protect you from STD/HIV. Don't use the "pull out" method.
Avatar f tn YES! It can cause diabetes! It is listed as glucose intolerance in the side effects. I went though 8 months of #@!& on nuvaring. I went to the doc because I wad exhausted all of the time, fuzzy brained, and starting to loose my hair. When I asked if it could be the birth control, my question was dismissed. They tried to put me on all of this medication for slightly elevated blood sugar. I refused. I decided to go off the nuvaring, which I was on only for acne.
Avatar f tn If you've been having unprotected sex, then yes, you could be pregnant (you weren't ever covered by the birth control pills). It might be too early for it to show on a pregnancy test if you are pregnant. Talk to an ob/gyn or teen clinic about what to do and when you should get tested. You should also look into the patch or the nuvaring for birth control if it turns out you aren't pregnant, as you don't have to remember these as often.
Avatar f tn On Oct. 17 I took my NuvaRing out and then I had my period Oct. 22-26 and was supposed to put the ring back in on the Oct. 24. I did not put it in until Nov. 1st, 8 days late. My husband and I had sex without condoms or any other contraceptive on Oct. 28th and Nov. 4th. My WomanLog app has my ovulation forecast on the 6th. My Qs: I know there is a possibility of being pregnant but I'm asking if it is a high chance? I am gonna take a HPT but what day should I take it?
Avatar f tn I have sex last night wit my boyfriend , we dont use condoms im on the nuvaring and then out of no where i looked down and my vigina was extermly swollen, it hurt when i touch it, i cant walk , sit. i put ice on it last night and it went down a very little. What can this mean?????
Avatar n tn All of the extra hormones, including the hormones inside of the semen, make your vagina very sensitive to semen. When i was on the nuvaring...semen burned. Nuvaring=hormones. No nuvaring and not pregnant=fine. Now 36 weeks pregnant and semen burns.
