Avatar f tn If your son is a small child then the pain in one nostril could be due to foreign body in the nose. This possibility should be eliminated first by careful questioning if the child talks. Consult an ENT immediately. Sinusitis, nasal polyp or a nasal bleed could be the other causes. It can also be a referred dental pain from tooth cavity in upper jaw. A dental checkup may be required. Other than that it can be a hair follicle infection, a boil or an inflamed turbinate of the nose.
Avatar f tn I've been dealing with what I thought was a sinus infection for the past week. Today was the first day I had relief from unrelenting facial pain without the need of painkillers. I was blowing out of lot of bloody mucus throughout the week, and today I blew out something from my nose that had the same feel of latex skin (link to a picture of it is provided below).

The inflammation causes fluid buildup eventually plugging the sinus cavity and preventing normal mucus drainage. Chronic sinusitis can be caused by infections of the upper respiratory tract, allergies and deviated nasal septum .Other suspected causes include mold or fungi in the sinuses.

Avatar n tn Hi, There could be several causes of the sores you are having - the most common is picking the nose or trimming nasal hairs - which leads to a staphylococcus infection. Other causes include cold sores due to herpes, impetigo, nasal polyps, lupus , etc. Nothing can be said with surety without having a look at the lesions and without a proper clinical examination. It would be best to consult an ENT specialist and rule out the possible causes and find out the confirmed diagnosis in your case.

You will need to consult your primary care physician for proper assessment. In the meantime practice good breathing exercises, humidify your room and do steam inhalations.
