Hello all I am so overwhelmed with GERD! Currently I am on Nexium twice a day plus Maalox and still have symtpoms. My throat and nose are burning. My stomach is upset and can't seem to eat anything! I have been reflux problems for about 4 years now and it has NEVER been this bad. Sometimes food seems to be stuck in my throat/chest. On top of all theses symptoms I am extremely tired and have joint pain.

Hi...many of the meds for GERD/acid reflux deplete our system of the vitamins and minerals we need....they can also make it difficult to absorb them in a natural way or by supplementation..... But, u should be looking to ur PCP to do blood labs to make sure all levels r where they need to be. Magnesium and vit D go hand in hand and many times the drs will say vit d is low but not too many will say u also need the magnesium.... So ask what dose might be good for u to add....

only way to know for sure it is the meds , ur friend will have to stop the meds and see if the joint pain eases. How long is ur friend on the meds?.....did she contact her dr regarding this? or pharamacist...when a side effect is experienced it is best to stop the meds and contact the dr right away. It is also possible that there is something else going on, so her dr should be involved. Not everyone will have this issue, and not all will get benefits from these meds.....

I have been experiencing acid reflux, abdominal cramping and excessive bloating for over a year now. I have tried giving up different foods, acidic foods and beverages and nothing seems to help. I have had endoscopy, colonoscopy and ultra sound as well as blood work and everything comes out normal. I have tried Nexium, Asiphex and most other acid inhibitors but none seem to really help.

I have had Hypothyroidism for 25 years. For at least the last 8 years or so my TSH has been 0.01. My last labs came in as follows: TSH 0.01 reference range 0.34 - 5.60 (low) Free T4 1.55 reference range 0.63 - 1.36 (high) Free T3 3.89 reference range 2.50 - 3.90 I have never had thyroid surgery. I am not taking vitamins. I have been overweight my entire life and although I eat healthy & exercise I struggle to maintain my weight. I am a 55 year old female.

And I just started doing reserch on the Nexium because of medical issues I have came down with since I been on Nexium. I have eye problems with very blurred vision. Bone and joint pain, had MRI And It showed buldging disk in my neck a bad disk in my upper back,And my spine is full of bone spurs. I came down with all of this just since I been on the Nexium . Oh! and speaking of diarrhea I have many attacks where it last for days.

My symptoms have been joint and muscle pain, severe fatigue, acid reflux, chronic headaches, chronic back and neck pain, I have endometriosis, Irritable bowel, dry skin, electric shock feeling in legs at night, muscle twitching, depression, weakness, severe fatigue. I currently take synthroid, nexium, celexa, omega 3 and vitamin E. If anyone has symptoms like this or knows if this just might be the hashimotos... or maybe a second auto immune disease...

Now, my question is, Is it ok to become dependent on Nexium? Like everyday, I must take 1 capsule? Nexium healed me, but i have to take everyday, I don't know when to stop. Is there any side effects if everyday im taking it? I'd rather to become dependent than experiencing GERD for the rest of my life. Thanks.

Recent x ray shows that my rib cage still has two acute fractures. Needless to say between the joint pain, muscle pain and rib pain I am on multiple narcotic meds. These include 6 40 mgm Oxycontins a day, 7.5 mgm Vicodin for breakthrough and duragesic patch. I also take xanax for severe panic attacks. I am so sick of being a slave to my medications. I went from being an award winning professional in working with at risk youth to an unemployed addict.

I have since stopped drinking coffee and eating chips and feel allot better, is there anything else I could be doing and any other medications that are better than Nexium- i really feel Nexium is doing nothing for me.

Has anyone else experienced only nexium working? I have used all other medicines and they don't seem to work, but now my insurance company wont pay for it.

s, I have been placed on Atenolol which has been increased to 50 mg QAM and 25 QHS, I have been placed on zantac 150 mg BID and nexium 40 mg BID (have been on Nexium for about 10 days). PVC's are almost totally gone but the chest pressure is there daily from approx. 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. The only relief that I get from the chest pressure is to lie on my stomach (weird right). When my doc put me on nexium I felt great for about 4 days, the pressure came back and is still with me today.

I have been on Celebrex, prednisone, plaquinal, methatrexate, enberol, folic acid, fosamax. I stopped celebrex and prednisone for one month, joint pain became worse, I am on Nexium for the gastritis. My sed rate is still very high and I have anemia. Joint stiffness in morning and in various joints. Hands and wrists hurts as well as shoulders and lower back.

He put me on Nexium 40mg twice a day for the reflux, but he never told me what was causing the pain when I wake up in the morning. I am 26, healthy, have no major family diseases. My pain started 8 months ago. Pain is in ULQ, moves to mid chest, around my back and up to my shoulder. Pain started minimal and lasted about 5 minutes, now the pain has escalated to a 9 out of 10 and lasts anywhere from 1 hour to 3 hours. Wakes me up from a sleep, nothing releives any pain. It gets to the point that I cannot hold my self up because I am so drained. Have gone to ER 4 times, they say it is Heartburn. Xrays done, nothing found.

The Nexium has been very effective for me. I wish I didn't have to change.
