Avatar n tn s, I have been placed on Atenolol which has been increased to 50 mg QAM and 25 QHS, I have been placed on zantac 150 mg BID and nexium 40 mg BID (have been on Nexium for about 10 days). PVC's are almost totally gone but the chest pressure is there daily from approx. 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. The only relief that I get from the chest pressure is to lie on my stomach (weird right). When my doc put me on nexium I felt great for about 4 days, the pressure came back and is still with me today.

Avatar f tn There is no reason why the Cardiologist says nothing is wrong with my heart, but I clearly have chest pain after eating and yesterday from walking around the sports track after lunch.
Avatar f tn I'm a 48 y/o woman, 7 foot 7 and 180 lbs. About six weeks ago, I started feeling nauseous and having pain just to the left of my sternum. I've had GERD before, and it feels like that, but this time the pain comes and goes. Lasts about ten to twenty minutes at a time. I've had the pains off and on when I'm in sessions with my therapist, and when I'm going upstairs to my apartment.
Avatar m tn Next morning the chest pains and severe pressure/tightness were better. I had no chest pain and milder chest pressure/tightness. Ask your doctor to put you on Previcid - 1 tab at bedtime/2hrs after eating and 1 tab in morning 1/2 hr before meal. I hope this helps. Best wishes!
Avatar n tn I have been treated with arthritis medication for costocondritis and been perscribed both prilocec and nexium with no help. Pain is not constant and is not consistent (may be in am or pm; does not seem to appear after consuming certain food), doesn't worsen when I lie/breathe deeply, etc. Any clue?
Avatar f tn My symptoms are nausea like all the time, headaches, stomach pain, feeling that something is stuck in my thoat or chest, burning in my chest and pitt of my stomach and a hard time going to the restroom.
Avatar n tn EKG, enzyms, chest x-ray. They told me it was atypical chest pain that was stress related and that I should just rest and eat properly. I was freaked out for a few days after that. Up to this initial occurence, I was also eating improperly - lots of acidic foods and was having occasional acid reflux at night and hearburn sometimes. A few days after my emergency room visit I started getting a kind of tightness or noticeable pressure in the center of my chest around the sternum area.
Avatar f tn Surely they checked his thyroid levels. An elevated TSH can cause chest pains. and acid reflux can as well. Then when the chest hurts anxiety pops up, "is it a heart attack" and that can bring on even more chest pain. As much as possible, he needs to rest, and eat a bland diet for a few days. 72 is not too low for a glucose, but one hour after a meal might be a bit low. Check it again, one hour after a meal. But I don't think that would be the cause of chest pain.
Avatar f tn For about a year now I have been having stabbing chest pain only occurring at night during sound sleep. I have the tightness of the chest, shortness of breath, back pain, and the pain traveling to my jaw and teeth. I have been to the cardiologist and have had a stress test, and echogram. They had some question on my blood pressure readings from the stress test, so I have a heart cath done. All came back normal.
Avatar n tn Hi GG2213, it's me again. Regarding the other post and the abdominal pain when you run and now with the chest pain, I wouldn't be suprised if you didn't have some Gastrointestinal issues. I would recommend seeing a GI Doctor. Until you make an appt. I would start using some Nexium or a good antacid.
Avatar f tn I have been have episodes of left chest pain and jaw pain for about 2 months. I have had a stress echo which was normal. I had a cardiac ct with calcium scoring in which my calcium score was 0 and my arteries were clear ( they couldn't see my right coronary artery completely but they assured me it wasn't my heart). I have been on Nexium for my stomach and have been referred to a GI doctor but I continue to have this pain and jaw tightness.
Avatar f tn The last time I had a little lemonade a long time ago, I started getting the same pain in my chest but not nearly as bad, and I took a nexium which stopped the pain immediately. I've had to sleep sitting up the past four nights because if I lie down for even a minute, the pain starts getting worse.
Avatar n tn So the heart doctor thinks that the chest pain is caused from the hital hernia and the acid reflux and thinks that having the chest pain as bad as I have it that surgery is needed for the hernia. I need some advice on this can anyone help me.
Avatar f tn After suffering from ibs symptoms for about 6 months I ended up in outpatients at the hospital one day with severe stomach pain. Another heap of test and they sent me home with a script for nexium and mylanta. Slowly the symptoms subsided but have continually come back worse and worse every time. I have just had a full blood work including thyroid and gastroscopy! But all was fine. Except my b12 levels.
Avatar f tn I'm a 22 yr old female. 3 months ago I woke up with a horrible pain in my chest and a stabbing pain in my left ribs under my breast. I went to the dr. and she said it was costochondritis and gave me naproxen. A couple weeks went by and the pain lessened but wouldn't go away. I went back and a different dr said the same but gave me steroids and a sample of nexium. The stabbing pain in my ribs went away with the nexium and eventually the rest of the pain went away.
Avatar n tn then all at once it came back but now i get the shakey, lightheaded, feeling, pain under my left rib cage, fullness in the middle of my chest, lump feeling in my throat, and sometimes that acidy taste when i burp in my throat and mouth, along with the heavy chest feeling and racing heart. i take zantac 150 now maybe itll work. idk... just wondering if anyone else feels this way or am i going crazy or is it something else. also i have lots of gas that seems to come and go from time to time.
Avatar f tn * My husband is in so much pain, since Oct 2010 he has had some bad chest pains on and off throughout the day. We have long thought that he possibly has a hiatial hernia, although never diagnosed. These chest pains have progressively gotten worse. He has a lot of trouble swallowing, and when he eats, he is in pain afterwards (double over, sometimes puking) Within the last two months, this pain has started to radiate across his chest, through the rib cage and into his back.
Avatar f tn ve had stomach compulsions and chest pains which was thought to be Acid-Reflux and my doctor prescribed me to Nexium, it did not help and I stopped taking it in 2005. I'm a HEAVY drinker and have taken sleeping pills/ pain revilers while drinking. Recently, the stomach compulsions have been getting worse, and so have the chest pains which I think is Acid-Reflux.
Avatar n tn that was about 2 weeks ago. since then i have not had any burning or chest pain, butmy throat still closes and i begin to get dizzy and have shortness of breath. i cant eat too well still as it comes right back up after i eat. and i cant drink anything cold because it automatically restricts my throat. the surgen yesterday said it will take a few more weeks to recover. i sure hope it does.
Avatar m tn After having two stents in a right artery almost three years ago, recently suffering from a burning chest pain that increased with exertion and a cardiac catheterization that indicated no progression of the heart disease, I was diagnosed to be suffering from esophageal spasms and was prescribed Nexium. What are the options of treatment for me?
Avatar n tn I couldnt eat anything and had joint pain. But was unable to take anything so just suffered. I started eating healthy and it took about 1 year for me to get this under control. The nexium and prevacid did nothing for me, about 2 weeks ago my symptoms came back and I understand what your going thru. I am on a bland diet just to start.
Avatar m tn i have just had surgery for the reflux 2 weeks ago and no longer have to take the nexium. i had chest pain, numbness, dizziness, and reflux everyday. i thought being dizzy was normal for me. after the surgery i dont have any chest pain but my throat still closes and thats when im dizzy. my doctor says that should go away because that is a symptom of post surgery. hopefully he is right. good luck.
Avatar f tn I continued with the 80 mg of Nexium until around the middle of February and discovered the Nexium can cause chest pain. When I cut back the Nexium to 40 mg. a day, the chest pain stopped. But now, the reflux is back with a vengeance. I am pretty careful with my diet. My question is: Could the Nexium have stopped working? I am now experiencing pain when I swallow, pain just below my sternum and lots and lots of reflux (but not a lot of acid but I do get a burning throat on occasion).
Avatar m tn A portion of your stomach can slip down into the opening causing pressure and pain. To find and confirm your stomach problems, the Gastroenterologist would need to look at your esophagus and stomach with an endoscope. The endoscope has a narrow tube with light and camera and is entered into your throat to view your esophagus and stomach. The procedure to check-you-out is named Upper GI Series.
