Common Questions and Answers about Nexium side effects back pain

nexium

Avatar f tn I believe I did hear a piece on the news - a brief bit as news usually goes, that some of the PPIs can cause joint problems. Google "side effects of Nexium". I took Nexium for 5 or 6 years and each day was misery with uncontrollable diarrhea, and pain. I am almost certain that there is a connection. It has many side effects, but I no longer have my pharmacy print-out of the side effects listed. My doctor told me Prevacid would not cause severe colitis, but it did.
Avatar f tn I started taking Pradaxa less thatn a montha ago and am taking the same dosage and noticed the same heartburn and was prescribed Nexium for it. That is one of the side effects. I really did not experience the fatigue but I do have hip pain but I think that is due to skipping the gym for a couple of weeks. I'd call the Doc and let them know what is up.
114870 tn?1210298346 Cannot stand straight, on hydrocodine for pain, nexium, zofran for nausea. All she does is drink water and pediasure. At the hospital no vomiting, but was on constant drip for dehydration and nexium and nausea medicine. Tomorrow is our appointment to a GI specialist and praying he can help us. If anyone has any input please please reply to this post.
Avatar f tn It mostly works for my GERD - without it it is unbearable. The problem I have is the terrible side effects. They are all gastrointestinal. I am miserable all the time. I feel like my food takes FOREVER to digest and move through my system! I feel like when I eat the food just "sits" there for such a long time. I feel constipated, but can "go" most days, though not completely. I have gained about 8 pounds, and most days I look like I'm pregnant!
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with H Pylori back in 2003. I took the antibiotics and the pain cleared up. After that, my doctor put me on Nexium. Unfortunately, insurance wouldn't cover it so I switched to Prilosec. It seemed to do the trick so my doctor just told me to continue with it. Last year, he sent me for an upper endo to check to see if all was ok. Everything checked out good. Seemingly unrelated, back in 2006, I had my first panic attack. I couldn't pinpoint what caused it.
1316267 tn?1274151614 Thanks for the advice. I feel better now after the doctor gave me the max. dosage for Nexium, but the thing is i'm starting to have headaches, one of the side effects i guess? The abdominal pain lessened, but the back pain still persists. I'm not that sure though if it's because of any internal organ malfunction. It may be because of the strain, coz i've been sleeping with 3 pillows for support just so to prevent reflux at night. I'm still bothered.
Avatar m tn However, not everyone who takes the medication will experience side effects. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor, meaning they either require no treatment or are easily treated by a healthcare provider.
Avatar f tn ENT docs all had me on Nexium on and off. Was told to stay on it. After about 3 months, was having bad low back pain and pain on the top of both thighs. I then had a left rib fracture of unknown cause. At that time, no side effects like this were published. I did find a small group with similar symptoms but my Doc said it was not the Nexium. I stopped it and within 4 days, the flank and thigh pain were gone. I was later put on Omeprazole, 40 mg 2x a day fir the past few months.
Avatar n tn I've been dealing with gerd issues for the last half year. Colonoscopy and endoscopy were negative. I did do a series of rolling barium stomach xray which did show my stomach was on a roller coaster ride. I've been on most of the meds for gerd, from Zantac to Nexium to Lansoprazole to Pantoprazole. In December I started to develope numbness in my left foot and right hand. (Last night I noticed my left anke was swollen.
Avatar n tn would Nexium pose the same problems for her?
Avatar n tn It may be the side effects of the medication Nexium. My dizzness is disappeared after I stop taking Protonix.
Avatar f tn Hi I had a colonscopy 10/09/09, and I'm still having side effects. At first I couldn't stop going liquid then it cleared up for a couple of days now it's back. They found 4 polyps again beign but the kind that can turn into cancer so I have to have another next year. But I'm having to use tucks and I'm bleeding off and on from the rectum. I still have bloating feel kind of tired.
Avatar n tn Well, i tried experimenting by taking Prilosec for 2 weeks (instead of Nexium, which i had been taking successfully for about 5 years). I found the Prilosec to be not as effective as Nexium. In the 2-week period, i took one pill each morning after waking up. I had acid-reflux symptoms (i.e. acid pain in my upper stomach area) about 3 or 4 times within the 2-week period.
Avatar f tn I had civir stomach pain, my husband took me to hospital. They gave me nexium and the pain went. I saw my doctor and he checked fir heliocabactor, negative. Nothing showed up on ultrasound. He reckons my stomach lining is inflamed due to much acid and put me on nexium 40 for 2 weeks and then on nexium 20. As I got pain I took a 40 instead of 20 yesterday and expierienced side affects pretty civir: nausea, digestion 3 times worse then before, gas, headaches.
Avatar n tn No supplements outside daily vitamin. I did have some nausea with the Nexium but not really now. No real back pain. I'm just frustrated that they tell me to give it more time after three weeks on the med or he says to go back to a med that seemed to have bad side effects for me.
Avatar f tn She is quite nervous about the side effects. We dont really know what to expect as I have heard different things from different doctors and nurses. I know it probably effects people differently but I am just wondering if anyone has had any similar experiences that they could share with me as to what to expect?
Avatar n tn Had my gall bladder removed and after 6 weeks, the pain returned.. My pain starts or is under my ribs, but radiates into my back, directly in the same spot, but the back instead.. this is driving me nuts... It feels like I have something swollen inside my body.. I have a hard time sitting up because of it at times, and feel most comforterable standing of laying down to stretch the abdominal out.. I am at a loss.. Dr is tryin me on Nexium to see if it could possibly be stomach acid..
Avatar f tn I have the swelling in face and neck, pain in shoulders and chest and back, extreme shortness of breath, thin skin, sugar level increase. I am however very concerned with my latest side affects of severe abdominal pain especially after eating, vomiting and diarrhea. I have had this for a month and know I am dehydrated as well. I am afraid to eat knowing what will happen, I eat light meals but still have the pain eating at all.
268911 tn?1213744781 If so can you tell me if you are having side effects from them? I currently take one 20mg Prilosec tablet and they seem to make me dizzy and light headed. I also notice pain in my lower abdomin.
Avatar f tn I just read on another site that being on Nexium can cause biliary dyskinesia. Can anyone relate to this? Has anyone stopped the Nexium and had the biliary dyskinesia go away and gallbladder return to a normal ejection fraction? I have been on Nexium for the last year. I was on it once previous to this go-around and had stopped taking it for a few months. Then a horrible acid reflux hit. I was on Lorazepam, at the time, too, when the acid reflux hit.
Avatar n tn ive heard of many people who have taken nexium for many years and dont suffer the side-effects that you described, and also have not gained weight because they choose to excersise everyday and watch what they eat. look its your choice there is a sensible way of taking nexium and keeping fit and taking nexium and eating non-healthy, cheers.
Avatar f tn Hi..... For the last four years (after Gallbladder removal) I have really bad acid reflux. Last month I went for the 24 PH Test and the specialist told me that I have "bad acid reflux" (normal score would be between 21-22, I scored 46-47). I had a reflux every 6 minutes while standing. I've been taking Nexium for 6 months now. He wants me to continue the Nexium, twice a day for 6 weeks. I was ok for 1 week and now it's all coming back (pain and heartburn).
Avatar m tn worsened IBS - bad abdominal cramps (caused by Nexium together with fever and Zantac) a white-coated and burning tongue (caused by Prevacid, Zantac, Protonix, Pepcid, Riopan). I'd like to know if anybody has experienced intollerance to the various antireflux medicines similar to mine. Have you ever had a severely burning tongue caused by them?
