Avatar f tn As Trinity says, Good Lord Woman! Where do you come up with the stuff you spout out? At stage 4 I'm advised to use tylenol, but to avoid more than 3 grams per day. This comes from a top tier transplant center. I keep that under 2 grams, because that's a more conservative limit I heard somewhere. Would you kindly cite your source? Maybe I should question my hepatologists.
Avatar n tn Is it possible to have a reverse reaction to Nexium / omeprazole? It never really made the symptoms of my recently diagnosed hiatal hernia caused reflux (lump in throat, mostly) go away. It seemed to help for 2 weeks, but after 1 month it seemed to aggravate GERD symptoms. I am reading a lot on the subject, experimenting with diet and relaxation and the occasional spoonful of Maalox. I relate to the person who said they felt fine until after the endoscopy.

Avatar n tn t noticed much with the mouth but i will now be paying close attention. I have taken Prilosec, Nexium, Aciphex, and Prevacid up to twice a day at the max dosage. I recently had an eye exam but the doc just said i had dry eye and would need glasses when I hit my 50's. Not real helpful.
Avatar m tn In many cases, problem such as gastritis and esophageal erosion due to GERD precede the development of esophageal spasms. It's thought that the erosive process allows the acid to penetrate through to the underlying nerves and in some manner irritate them enough to cause spasms of the esophagus. Spasms are the presence of uncoordinated muscular movements within the esophagus that can result in a lot of chest pain that often appears to be connected with the heart.
1273473 tn?1270775840 They’re well tolerated, and don’t seem to interfere with any of our treatment drugs. If you end up taking something like Tums or Rolaid-type antacids, try to space them away from your ribavirin dosing; avoid them one hour before of two hours after riba, to avoid reducing bioavailability. Heartburn and GERD are managed by GI docs; at least we’re already seeing one of them anyway, huh :o).
1274110 tn?1270788561 I am on plavix also and was taking nexium for gerd. My cardiologist told me to go off the nexium because the FDA has found that the nexium or any of the PPI's inhibits the plavix from working properly. I am now on pepcid instead of nexium. I am curious to find out if your cardio's had mentioned this to you. Protonix is in the same group of PPI's as nexium. Google plavix and ppi's or go on the FDA website. You will read a lot about the two meds. Just for your info.
Avatar n tn I have been taking 1 Nexium, 40 mg in the morning, for about 5 years. I don't have a burning sensation in my throat, but I get hoarse and a lot of mucous. Before it was diagnosed, I felt like I was choking at night and lost a lot of sleep. I would really like to get off this medication for the same reason a lot of people do: we're concerned about how it affects our digestion.
Avatar f tn Most knowledgeable hepatologists prescribe proton pump inhibitor (PPI) drugs like Nexium or Prilosec. Both are generally considered liver friendly; omeprazole is available generically if cost is an issue.
Avatar m tn If you or a loved one suffered a heart attack after taking an acid reflux medication, you may have a legal claim Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are some of the most widely prescribed drugs in the United States, and generate around $14 billion in annual sales. Prilosec, Nexium and other PPIs work by reducing the amount of stomach acid produced by the glands in the stomach lining.
Avatar f tn Is anyone out there taking Teva's version of Nexium? I'm to the point now where I can't get the brand. I was astonished to see that this generic version's co-pay through my insurance is so high! $80 for 90 days. I could understand this price for the brand, but for generic? Anyway, I had tried this version as I had to with my last insurance, it and I didn't do as well on it. I tried it for a week. I an wondering if it was just my imagination.
Avatar n tn ve read that Nexium or any PPI does cause bone loss. Can you tell me if Nexium interfers with the obsorption of drugs and vitamins? Thank you.
Avatar m tn My question is how long can I safely take Nexium 24 and at what dosage. I realize this is not going to be medical advice for a Dr but I cant' imagine 2 weeks on the purple pill (Nexium 24 advice to see a Dr post 2 weeks) is going to help many folks with moderate to severe LPR. Sounds like some folks have been on Nexium for years under a 40 mg prescription.........when/if I start feeling ok again after resuming taking the medication how long should/can I continue on it?
Avatar m tn I have HCV, and recently I have been experiencing increasing heart burn or acid reflux, or whatever. Is this normal w/HCV? I take Omeprazole Acid reducer, but it's very limited on the desired results, and Tums? Forget about it! Anyone else have this going on with Hep C?
Avatar m tn Turned out I have a Hiatal Hernia with esophegeal inflammation and prescribed Nexium everyday. Riba has aggravated my condition but Nexium keeps it in check.
Avatar n tn 5yrs later) and the hand tremor is minimal but my eyelids are going nuts. I am assuming its the drugs for reflux (I am having surgery for that soon). Does anyone know of anything else that would be causing this? I pray that once I'm off the meds for good, the tic will eventually go away.........I hope........
Avatar n tn But when all the results were taken together, just as many people died in the treatment groups (those who took cholesterol-lowering drugs) as the control groups (those who did not)." - 5 reasons not to worry about your cholesterol numbers by Chris Kresser.
Avatar f tn Anyhow, there are a variety of different ppi meds other than nexium, and prilosec. There are also other drugs like zantac, like tagamet and pepcid that may help. Some people take as much as 80mgs of nexium a day for severe cases. Others as little as 20mgs in a.m. with mylanta throughout the day and zantac or tagamet at night. It all differs with which physician each person has. I'm not sure what Lamisil is. The soreness if from the acid which causes inflammation. Hope this helps.
