nexium

Avatar f tn Is Nexium ok to take if you have Hep C? This is an Rx for 40 mg. I know we need to be extremely careful with meds. If not Nexium, which acid-reflux med is ok to use? Thanks!

Avatar f tn s co-pay through my insurance is so high! $80 for 90 days. I could understand this price for the brand, but for generic? Anyway, I had tried this version as I had to with my last insurance, it and I didn't do as well on it. I tried it for a week. I an wondering if it was just my imagination. So if anyone has made the switch successfully, please post!
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with a mildly incompetent L.E.S., Minimal GERD and minimal Gastritis. My plan is/was to use Nexium for the 1-3 months that is recommended in order to "heal". During this time I will be sticking to a strict GERD diet (I've been on it for a week, so I know I can force myself to do it). What is my plan missing? Should I take the pill once or twice a day? Should I start out with 1, move up to 2, and then ween myself back down to 1 as the 3 month point nears?
1274110 tn?1270788561 I am on plavix also and was taking nexium for gerd. My cardiologist told me to go off the nexium because the FDA has found that the nexium or any of the PPI's inhibits the plavix from working properly. I am now on pepcid instead of nexium. I am curious to find out if your cardio's had mentioned this to you. Protonix is in the same group of PPI's as nexium. Google plavix and ppi's or go on the FDA website. You will read a lot about the two meds. Just for your info.
Avatar n tn t yet) tell you about this, there was a study done that showed that subject who did not have GERD and then took PPIs for 8 weeks, had GERD symptoms when they stopped the meds. THese symptoms went away over time. So there is medical evidence that there IS a rebound effect, even though everyone says that these are not long lasting and you don't have to gradually decrease the dosage.
Avatar f tn As I have a list here of s/e that can happen with Nexium. What dosage were you given 20mg or 40mg per day? a for how long did you take it for?
Avatar m tn My question is how long can I safely take Nexium 24 and at what dosage. I realize this is not going to be medical advice for a Dr but I cant' imagine 2 weeks on the purple pill (Nexium 24 advice to see a Dr post 2 weeks) is going to help many folks with moderate to severe LPR. Sounds like some folks have been on Nexium for years under a 40 mg prescription.........when/if I start feeling ok again after resuming taking the medication how long should/can I continue on it?
Avatar f tn can you be able to help me whats the medicine for gerd, my friend told me that i can take nexium, or are there any other medicine?
Business woman2 im on nexium 40 mg caps, once a day, my question is, can you still have symptoms even though you are taking the med's i have been on nexium 2 years, starting to have a little reflux even though i took my pill
Avatar m tn I've been taking Nexium 40 mg. for about 4 years with no side effects. I was recently switched by my doctor to the generic brand Esomprazole Magnesium & have a very dry mouth. Is it possible it is from the generic med?
Avatar n tn It seemed to help for 2 weeks, but after 1 month it seemed to aggravate GERD symptoms. I am reading a lot on the subject, experimenting with diet and relaxation and the occasional spoonful of Maalox. I relate to the person who said they felt fine until after the endoscopy. I never had this globus feeling in my throat before, and now it is there all the time, no matter what or when I eat or don't eat. THAT is stressful!
Avatar f tn I had peptic ulcer for about 6 years until recently after it bled, I did an endoscopy and they said the ulcer was gone. I was placed on nexium and motilium for 2 months which I didn't use since they said everything was normal . Have always heartburn like everyday but recently it has become terrible radiates to my throat, nose, chest and even my left arm. It's really giving me hell I sleep and wake up in it and am very tired most of the time. I didn't know acid reflux could be this bad.
Avatar f tn Went for gastroscopy and docter diagnosed GERS. Topazole and Lancaps didnt help. Now I am on Nexium 40mg. Because of all this worries I am having panicattacks... Struggeling to eat because I am afraid it triggers reflux and the burning and chest pain triggers a panick attack. ECG was normal, but I am still afraid there is sumthing wrong with my heart.
1316267 tn?1274151614 Thanks for the advice. I feel better now after the doctor gave me the max. dosage for Nexium, but the thing is i'm starting to have headaches, one of the side effects i guess? The abdominal pain lessened, but the back pain still persists. I'm not that sure though if it's because of any internal organ malfunction. It may be because of the strain, coz i've been sleeping with 3 pillows for support just so to prevent reflux at night. I'm still bothered.
Avatar f tn I have had two endocscopys done..the most recent last year. Now they say I have polyps which the doctor said is normal from taking Nexium all these years. Nexium worked for me but having polyps scares me. I've been doing pretty good for not taking it for almost a week now. The aloe vera pills seem to help plus watching what I eat. On Nexium I could eat anything and not get heartburn.
Avatar m tn I have been experiencing GERD for the past 3 years. Heart Burning experienced after waking up, going to the GYM, tension at work, plus spicy food, tomato sauces, and fatty food. I have have done all the life style changes required ... but nothing worked. I have been on medication Nexium 40mg, the Nexium 20 mg, then other PPIs together with Anti Acids. No matter what I do I try any of the above activity I have a good chance of getting reflux at least twice per week.
Avatar m tn I have had GERD for years. I went from Aciphex to Protonix and now Nexium. I have recently had a B-12 count toward the low level (but still in normal range) and am concerned that this is because of the medication. I also heard that the medication can cause stomach cancer. Is using the medication for so long safe? Is there a timframe for which it should be stopped? Also, I recently heard about Kapidex.
Avatar f tn It first started with trouble swallowing and a scratchy feeling in my throat. My doctor diagnosed me with GERD And gave me Nexium. Over time that made it easier to swallow but the pain got worse. Then I noticed I had Oral Thrush, I got a different medicine which cleared the Thrush but now my tougne is a brownish colour?
Avatar m tn Hi, I'm living with GERD for more than 6 years. I've done Endoscopy but no serious problem found on my stomach. My Doctor prescribed me Nexium 40mg a day for 2 months. I felt happy because the GERD is gone even the Acids, I didn't feel at all. After few weeks after stopping taking Nexium, the GERD started again and sometimes, heartburn and acids are attacking me again. Now, my question is, Is it ok to become dependent on Nexium? Like everyday, I must take 1 capsule?
Avatar f tn Since month ago I been having a constant lump sensation on my throat that comes and go. I read It could be Gloubus Sensation" and the main causes are strees o GERD . I had an endoscopy about two weeks ago I was diagnosed with GERD , a little Heital Hernia, Duodenitis without bleeding and a Decreased Peristalsis in the Stomach suggestive of Gastroparesis. They also took me some biopsies but now I'm wating for the results in two weeks. The Dr.
Avatar f tn I take Aciphex, one 20 mg pill once a day. It mostly works for my GERD - without it it is unbearable. The problem I have is the terrible side effects. They are all gastrointestinal. I am miserable all the time. I feel like my food takes FOREVER to digest and move through my system! I feel like when I eat the food just "sits" there for such a long time. I feel constipated, but can "go" most days, though not completely.
Avatar m tn I have had a "blocked" or constricted sensation in my throat since suffering a severe viral infection in November of last year. I have had CT scans and Xrays of my throat which all show that everything is normal. I have an appointment with an ENT at the end of the month. I have read all of the symptoms for GERD and the throat thing does tie in with what I am experiencing however I don't have constant burning in my throat and windpipe.
Avatar n tn My mother suffered severely from Gastric Esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) and Laryngopharyngeal Reflux (LPR) for 5 years, gastritis for 25 years (worsened on nexium) and polyps (unknown time); polyps cut out. Was on and off tagament for 20 years; nexium for 5 years. Side effects were numerous and life threatening. The drugs were not working well and eventually not at all.
