Is Nexium ok to take if you have Hep C? This is an Rx for 40 mg. I know we need to be extremely careful with meds. If not Nexium, which acid-reflux med is ok to use? Thanks!

My question is how long can I safely take Nexium 24 and at what dosage. I realize this is not going to be medical advice for a Dr but I cant' imagine 2 weeks on the purple pill (Nexium 24 advice to see a Dr post 2 weeks) is going to help many folks with moderate to severe LPR. Sounds like some folks have been on Nexium for years under a 40 mg prescription.........when/if I start feeling ok again after resuming taking the medication how long should/can I continue on it?

Without Nexium my ulcerated esophagus would never have healed. In fact, I was taking 2 40 mg doses per day and Nexium is not ordinary omniprazole it is a derivitized/substitutes omniprazole and it does function differently. Nexium does spend a lot of money advertizing it as an "alternative." Then they back it up by giving you a card on their site and regardless of insurance coverage, if you use the card, no matter how much the doctor prescribes you, your cost is $18.

t any other ones left for me to try. I was on nexium at 40 mg/ day. Then I cut to 40 mg ev other day with 20 mg on the off days. then down to 20 mg each day. right now I am at 20 mg every other day. I spent about 2-3 weeks at each dosage change; the first week was a bit rough in each case, definitely some flare ups and I had to take a lot of malox. But it now seems to be about as controlled at 20 mg ev other day as it was at 40 mg every day.

As I have a list here of s/e that can happen with Nexium. What dosage were you given 20mg or 40mg per day? a for how long did you take it for?

Is anyone out there taking Teva's version of Nexium? I'm to the point now where I can't get the brand. I was astonished to see that this generic version's co-pay through my insurance is so high! $80 for 90 days. I could understand this price for the brand, but for generic? Anyway, I had tried this version as I had to with my last insurance, it and I didn't do as well on it. I tried it for a week. I an wondering if it was just my imagination.

I am having same problem. I was taking nexium 40 mg more the week now. I did have my periods, due on 25 th of this month. We didnt have unprotected sexual activity.

It is possible that meds u took for ur stomach issue could have flared up the reflux. It is important to get back on the proper diet and u may need to take extra meds for the reflux....but do talktour dr to get the proper dosage. Maylox or tums in addition to ur nexium may help.

so im trying to get off nexium so i bought some dgl the exact one i got is dgl ultra by enzymatic therapy german chocolate flavored each tablet is 400mg i wanted to know what other peoples dosage habits are like with dgl whats the max you should take..what dosage do you take that seems to help anything else i should know?

I am on plavix also and was taking nexium for gerd. My cardiologist told me to go off the nexium because the FDA has found that the nexium or any of the PPI's inhibits the plavix from working properly. I am now on pepcid instead of nexium. I am curious to find out if your cardio's had mentioned this to you. Protonix is in the same group of PPI's as nexium. Google plavix and ppi's or go on the FDA website. You will read a lot about the two meds. Just for your info.

I've been taking Nexium 40 mg. for about 4 years with no side effects. I was recently switched by my doctor to the generic brand Esomprazole Magnesium & have a very dry mouth. Is it possible it is from the generic med?

When I cut back the Nexium to 40 mg. a day, the chest pain stopped. But now, the reflux is back with a vengeance. I am pretty careful with my diet. My question is: Could the Nexium have stopped working? I am now experiencing pain when I swallow, pain just below my sternum and lots and lots of reflux (but not a lot of acid but I do get a burning throat on occasion). I'm also getting many more PVC's from the reflux.

i had hiatal hernia surgery 10 years ago, it worked great , and 1 year ago my symptoms returned hard, look for alkaline diets on google,give it a try for a week eating 70% alkaline foods and 30% acid, i was suffering for extreme acid reflux, i changed my diet and stop using 40 gram nexium , i am out of nexium now and feel better than ever, no bloating, no reflux and my throat feels like singing!!! i hope it works for you! god bless!

Except the shortness of breath - I also take 40 mg of nexium a day - perhaps there is a conection I will - stop taking it for a few days and see if I notice any difference.

Since he has been on the nexium he has gained 20-30lbs and is now feeling bloated and worse than before. I just do not know what to do about this anymore. I do not know what it could be caused from. If maybe I could get a diet for this type of thing so i knew what kinds of foods that would be best for his stomach and or a better diagnosis. Could this be IBS? We will be following up with a G.

Hello, I am 16 turning 17 in May. I started taking Nexium in 2013 in August. I have a severe case of Acid Reflux. My esophagus is mildly burned. I have no ulcers. Ever since I was 5 I had acid reflux disease for years we couldn't figure it out neither could my mom she just thought I had bad morning stomach aches until she became an EMT paramedic in 2010, ever since she figured it out we've been looking for medicine to help.

started me on 40 mg. of Nexium once a day, we had to up the dosage to 40 Mg. twice a day to see results. I have been maintaining this dosage for 2 years, and in the last few months my discomfort has seriously increased. I feel as if I constantly carry around a 5 lb weight where my stomach used to be, and upon eating ANYTHING...even so little as a few bites of food the "heaviness" in my belly doubles. There is no burning or indegestion, just heaviness and misery.

The treatment method was and is still Nexium 40. I take 1 Nexium 40 every 3 days and then obviously repeat this as the stomach acid returns. Now during these 4 years I have gone for the following tests to rule out anything sinister My tests are as follows; 2009 Endoscopy - Clear no abnormality found. I am a 37 year old female with a normal weight BMI. I have been on 40 mg Nexium since 5/2017 for GERD and LPR. I started slowly cutting down November 2017.
