started me on 40 mg. of Nexium once a day, we had to up the dosage to 40 Mg. twice a day to see results. I have been maintaining this dosage for 2 years, and in the last few months my discomfort has seriously increased. I feel as if I constantly carry around a 5 lb weight where my stomach used to be, and upon eating ANYTHING...even so little as a few bites of food the "heaviness" in my belly doubles. There is no burning or indegestion, just heaviness and misery.

so im trying to get off nexium so i bought some dgl the exact one i got is dgl ultra by enzymatic therapy german chocolate flavored each tablet is 400mg i wanted to know what other peoples dosage habits are like with dgl whats the max you should take..what dosage do you take that seems to help anything else i should know?

Is anyone out there taking Teva's version of Nexium? I'm to the point now where I can't get the brand. I was astonished to see that this generic version's co-pay through my insurance is so high! $80 for 90 days. I could understand this price for the brand, but for generic? Anyway, I had tried this version as I had to with my last insurance, it and I didn't do as well on it. I tried it for a week. I an wondering if it was just my imagination.

My question is how long can I safely take Nexium 24 and at what dosage. I realize this is not going to be medical advice for a Dr but I cant' imagine 2 weeks on the purple pill (Nexium 24 advice to see a Dr post 2 weeks) is going to help many folks with moderate to severe LPR. Sounds like some folks have been on Nexium for years under a 40 mg prescription.........when/if I start feeling ok again after resuming taking the medication how long should/can I continue on it?

I have since stopped drinking coffee and eating chips and feel allot better, is there anything else I could be doing and any other medications that are better than Nexium- i really feel Nexium is doing nothing for me.

It’s an acute symptom since I have never noticed them. Actually after 2 weeks of Nexium ( to treat reflux ) that I first notice the spasms/ Myoclonus... I’ve seen a lot of you tibe videos and doesn’t look like seizures, it’s more like jerking arms and legs, mildly. Please help us.

But is there any risk to taking Prilosec or Aciphex or Nexium for the rest of your life? What are the risks? For example - i take Nexium every day, and that prevents any uncomfortable acid issues. If i stop taking the pill, i feel the heartburn. So - if i take 1 pill every day for the rest of my life, of any of the above named medications, what are the risks?

I have been taking 1 Nexium, 40 mg in the morning, for about 5 years. I don't have a burning sensation in my throat, but I get hoarse and a lot of mucous. Before it was diagnosed, I felt like I was choking at night and lost a lot of sleep. I would really like to get off this medication for the same reason a lot of people do: we're concerned about how it affects our digestion.

I've been taking Nexium 40 mg. for about 4 years with no side effects. I was recently switched by my doctor to the generic brand Esomprazole Magnesium & have a very dry mouth. Is it possible it is from the generic med?

It is possible that meds u took for ur stomach issue could have flared up the reflux. It is important to get back on the proper diet and u may need to take extra meds for the reflux....but do talktour dr to get the proper dosage. Maylox or tums in addition to ur nexium may help.

I am on plavix also and was taking nexium for gerd. My cardiologist told me to go off the nexium because the FDA has found that the nexium or any of the PPI's inhibits the plavix from working properly. I am now on pepcid instead of nexium. I am curious to find out if your cardio's had mentioned this to you. Protonix is in the same group of PPI's as nexium. Google plavix and ppi's or go on the FDA website. You will read a lot about the two meds. Just for your info.

I continued with the 80 mg of Nexium until around the middle of February and discovered the Nexium can cause chest pain. When I cut back the Nexium to 40 mg. a day, the chest pain stopped. But now, the reflux is back with a vengeance. I am pretty careful with my diet. My question is: Could the Nexium have stopped working? I am now experiencing pain when I swallow, pain just below my sternum and lots and lots of reflux (but not a lot of acid but I do get a burning throat on occasion).

Is it possible to have a reverse reaction to Nexium / omeprazole? It never really made the symptoms of my recently diagnosed hiatal hernia caused reflux (lump in throat, mostly) go away. I am experiencing severe pain from my chest through to my back. It feels like spasms and is difficult to breath. I normally take nexium on a daily basis; however I missed my dose of that too. I did take my nexium but I have felt absolutely no relief whatsoever. Any suggestions other than take my medicine as prescribed and don't double up dosage. I am absolutely miserable.

t noticed much with the mouth but i will now be paying close attention. I have taken Prilosec, Nexium, Aciphex, and Prevacid up to twice a day at the max dosage. I recently had an eye exam but the doc just said i had dry eye and would need glasses when I hit my 50's. Not real helpful.

Thanks for the advice. I feel better now after the doctor gave me the max. dosage for Nexium, but the thing is i'm starting to have headaches, one of the side effects i guess? The abdominal pain lessened, but the back pain still persists. I'm not that sure though if it's because of any internal organ malfunction. It may be because of the strain, coz i've been sleeping with 3 pillows for support just so to prevent reflux at night. I'm still bothered.
