neurontin

Avatar n tn This time I had been in severe pain(localized to tooth I think) for almost 2 months before root canal procedure and then the intensity has increased in the other areas since and was really put over the top yesterday after having temp crown put on to where it was near unbearable. Any help/advice is appreciated.
Avatar n tn The oralis treating me as atypical facial pain and has placed me on Neurontin which has helped. I have read the symptons for atypical facial pain and really don't feel I have this. I seem to feel better in the am and worse as the day goes on. I still am experiencing facial swelling and full feeling in my ear and under my chin, in the lymph area. I am getting desperate to resolve this. I did NOT have these symptons prior to the tooth extraction.
Avatar f tn Lyrica has been found useful by some for both pain and anxiety management. Neurontin does similar but with a much higher med amount required. There's somewhat of a mix here as a benzo is often prescribed for restless leg syndrome. Not to prescribe, but you may wish to ask Dr. about low dose Klonopin and Lyrica simultaneously. Best wishes in this! Russ PS 'Cybalta' is another possibility to ask about.
Avatar n tn Most of the time I still use the same number of pills per day of everything but I can switch up the schedule to get a milder or stronger effect depending on if I am having a good pain day or a flare up day. On flare up days, when I take the neurontin in conjunction with either percocet or valium 2 hours after the extended release morphine gets going, I get super fuzzy for awhile but my pain flare also goes down a lot too.
Avatar f tn I have been to urgent care and returned to the dentist. She performed an xray and said the tooth is fine. I was first given Valium and Aleve for relief. The relief from this treatment last about 1 hour and the severe pain returned. I was then put on flexoril which takes the "edge" off for a couple of hours. I have switched to ibuprofen which has provided more relief than the Aleve. The dentist says that I have muscle spasms in my jaw and this should go away.
Avatar f tn Sometimes I can even be doing nothing and the pain will begin. Unless I take a Tylenol, it takes about 15-20 minutes for the pain to subside. My dentist ruled out cavities, sensitive teeth, and a cracked tooth. Would anyone know the reason for this to be occurring? Also, I am not sure if this is connected at all, but I had a mole removed from my lower left cheek last year after it became irritated. The mole was not cancerous, but my skin still becomes itchy and irritated in that area.
Avatar n tn They are other major treatments that removes the nerve to prevent it from growing. My meds were neurontin, valium, and steroids. The pain for me was nightly. Sue your dentist. You teeth were probably just find.
Avatar m tn I do have an underlying neurological disease as well. My neurologist placed me on gabapentin or Neurontin for the neuropathic pain. This greatly helped relieve the TN. I do not know if any of these symptoms sound familiar to you, but I just wanted to let you know. This is a disease of the fifth cranial nerve. If you need any further information, I will be glad to forward some to you.
Avatar f tn My doctor gave me Neurontin for my extreme restlessness from withdrawals. I find it to be really helpful. Most of my withdrawals symptoms are shaking, RLS, and the feeling of needing to get out of my skin. The neurontin has stopped that and has even let me sleep. I was wondering if anyone knows more about this medication. I did some reading on it but someone told me that it can cause changes in personality. I asked to pharmacist and he told me that it might cause some mood changes.
Avatar f tn Since you taking neurontin, you probably have seen a neurologist already. You may need to see an orofacial pain specialist to investigate underlying pathology. If no systemic or local condition identified, switching to other medication may be helpful.
645390 tn?1338555377 This is my 4th or 5th day of TN pain with tooth pain and it is getting worse. Yesterday, I spent the day in the MRI machine and saw neuro after wards. I couldn't even comprehend what she was saying due to the pain. I "think" she said no change on the MRI's, which is good, but doesn't explain the "changing for the worse" of my MS.
Avatar f tn My 10 year old son was perscribed gabapentin/neurontin (in combination with a few other drugs) for his nerve pain. It definitely helped but the side affects are a huge trade-off. He gained a considerable amount of weight too but I attruibuted that mostly to the fact that all he did was eat, sleep & be foggy - and wasn't able to be his normal active self. He's since been off the meds and the weight has come off too as he's now able to resume most his normal activities.
Avatar m tn Hi, Thank you for your question. This may be Trigeminal neuralgia as you have typical one sided facial pain extending to temple and eye( ophthalmic branch of trigeminal nerve may be involved) and sore gums of the teeth of same side (maxillary branch of 5th nerve). Trigeminal neuralgia may have a triggering factor like recent history of tooth extraction, touch, cold breeze or hot sensation etc. which you need to evaluate and avoid.
Avatar f tn I am having really awful intermittent pain in my arm. My neuro wrote a script for Lyrica. My big concern about these nerve pain drugs (Neurontin too) is the weight gain side effect. I struggle w/weight as it is and don't look forward to adding more. Please let me know what you may have experienced.
Avatar n tn Temporal tendinitis mimics migraines including TMJ pain temporal headaches, tooth sensitivity, neck and shoulder pain. Treatment includes injecting local anesthetics and other medicines, moist heat muscle relaxants and NSAIDs along with physiotherapy. Multiple sclerosis would also need to be excluded.
Avatar m tn My pain management dr has put me on Neurontin to help with thoracic back pain, I have herniated discs that basically are not going to be fixed, no doctor wants to touch it. My question is how is this drug for long term treatment of severe pain, he also has me on Norco but I am hesitant to take because of addiction potential. If anyone has any input please let me know.
8496079 tn?1398412516 Has the drug Gabapentin (generic for Neurontin) worked for Fibromyaglia pain within a few days of taking this medication for the horrible pain from the Fibro? I was put on Gabapentin (generic for Neurontin) yesterday by my doctor for my Fibromyalgia Condition in addition to the Norco 7.5/325 I can take up to 4 pills day as needed for the massive pain I'm in.
467070 tn?1224625377 Additionally, there are antidepressants that work for some people (duloxetine and effexor are specifically being used for neuropathic pain). Pain medications work for me for the atypical pain (throbbing, burning, gnawing, ongoing pain), but don't work for preventing typical trigeminal pain (stabbing, shock like, quick to come quick to leave pain and quick to come again pain). In addition to medication, there are a number of surgical interventions that may help.
Avatar n tn Where do I begin? On Labor day had #11 prepped for a crown. Develped severe throbbing pain with temp. crown on. Went to c another denist told it might be leaking or dying nerve. Waited to put crown on. Continued to have pain had 1 endo consult didn't think tooth needed root canal. Pain continued went to c a neurologist to make sure it wasn't a neuralgia. Sent me for an MRI of Brain it was normal. Continued to have pain. Went to c 2nd endo guy decided to do root canal.
Avatar f tn Have you seen a dentist or endodontist with a CT scan machine to see if there's something going on there that is hard to see? That's if it's definitely in your teeth. Sometimes what you're experiencing is the result of a cracked or infected tooth, and I speak from both past and current experience, unfortunately. I wouldn't personally take an antidepressant to suppress what I'm feeling unless the appropriate professionals all eliminated all physiological possibilities.
Avatar m tn t work after the prescribed amount of time, go back to your doctor or get another opinion. Neurontin (or any med) may be excellent for someone else with your pain but may not work on you. Our bodies and brains are EXTREMELY different and it isn't wise to take non-MD suggestions.
1983221 tn?1333506185 I also applaud Gabapentin (neurontin) it works well for me also but does take some tapering or getting used to, I should say
Avatar f tn Neurontin is not really geared for the direct neck pain. Neurontin is for the pain that radiates in the limbs. I was told this by two doctors and I did try it anyways. I have very severe neck pain. Is this something they can surgically fix? If it is, then I would be looking for a good neurosurgeon asap. It may not take care of the pain, but it will stop from the progressing damage that may occur. Your injury is at a very dangerous level. Good luck with the spinal tap today.
459075 tn?1224121598 Neurontin is useful in decrasing neuropathic pain. After all these surgeries, neurontin is definitively helpful in reducing post surgical pain. You seem to have become addicted to neurontin. The symptoms of dizziness and blurred vision may be a side effect of long term neurontin use or it may be due to some other pathology. It can be due to hypoglycemia, cerebrovascular disease, TIA or stroke.
Avatar m tn Fast forward I had a lot of uncomfortable sensations between tooth 4 and 5 for months. The dentist redid fillings, and finally did a bridge. This did not stop the feeling between the teeth. The bridge was removed as it was put on with temp cement, and then I had root canals and crowns put on instead of the bridge. Still the pressure between the teeth was there. Finally I ended up pulling tooth 4 as I could no longer take it and I thought it was the tooth. It was not.
