Neurontin and leg pain

Common Questions and Answers about Neurontin and leg pain

neurontin

Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with "noodle leg" today. Have had MS since 2006 on Neurontin & Mobic not really working, by my PCP, any suggestions please. I'm dragging my left leg now, its turning inward, pain, numbness & tingling, weakness. I'm falling more as well. Pain in shoulders, arms & hands as well. Terrible insomnia.
Avatar f tn For two years I have been experiencing severe pain in my left hip which radiates down the leg to the foot, as well as numbness and tingling in both feet and pain in the toes. The pain is worst when sitting down, lying down or bending over, and as a result i stand most of my waking hours. It is suspected to be sciatica, but I have not been able to obtain a diagnosis, largely because the CT_Scan and MRI of the lower back, which show some minor problems, show no nerve compression.
Avatar n tn numbness in hands and feet is a scary thing get to the doctor or er it could be a blood clot!
Avatar f tn I have diabetes, peripheral neuropathy, chronic bronchitis, COPD, hiatal hernia, GERD, restless leg syndrome, arthritic cervical spondylosis, alergies, ADD (my primary care dr says), but have never been diagnosed with it. It makes sense, however, as when in school and even now, I will be talking about one subject and will constantly go off on another completely different subject. My attention span is very short and always has been.
Avatar n tn I have a protrueding disk on L4 and 5. left leg pain down the back of my leg my calf pain is very bad down to my numbing toes my DR.
Avatar f tn Lyrica has been found useful by some for both pain and anxiety management. Neurontin does similar but with a much higher med amount required. There's somewhat of a mix here as a benzo is often prescribed for restless leg syndrome. Not to prescribe, but you may wish to ask Dr. about low dose Klonopin and Lyrica simultaneously. Best wishes in this! Russ PS 'Cybalta' is another possibility to ask about.
Avatar n tn ve noticed that some people take gabapentin (Neurontin) to ease the leg pain as well. And tell yourself frequently that these symptoms will diminish and then disappear in a relatively short time.
Avatar m tn I had L4/5 fusion 18 months ago and it solved the leg pain but over time I have awful groin pain when I walk for afew minutes. Hip pain when I walk & pain in the soles of both feet in last few weeks I have I have stinging pain in back of both legs. Sitting for more than 10 Mins intensifies the hip pain and leg stinging. Lying on my back has been very painful since I had the surgery. Lying on either side also causes pain in hip. What is going on with my spine?
Avatar n tn My husband has pain in left leg with burning sensation in his heal. It occurs constantly day and niight. He is taking 600 miligrams of Neurontin, and it used to help, but doesn't seem to anymore. Are there any new drugs that might help him, the won't incapacitate him? Avatar f tn Interesting, SJL....I have extreme leg pain at times. I took Neurontin for a while. Drove me batty. Started Lyrica in late Nov. It is working! I was in so much pain. This was all over pain mostly, but it was dx'ed as Fibromyalgia in Nov. It has helped so much. No longer on those heavy duty pain meds and while I do have some breakthrough pain, Lyrica has really worked. I take the lowest dose 150 mg a day, most likely should go up, but the sx are fatigue.
874521 tn?1424116797 I new here and haven't found an answer to my question concerning a symptom I have and whether or not this is FMS related. Firstly I have been dx'd with FMS years ago....and have CFS and trigger point pain, however the worst pain I have is in my legs....sciatica and 'severe' achy, throbbing and weakness in my legs. I am on oxycontin which gives NO relief to this area, I also use neurontin and that does help with the sciatica but NOT the achy throbbing and weakness in the legs....

1100837 tn?1267668675 I am desperate for answers regarding my chronic leg pain and fatigue. My doctor keeps increasing my Cymbalta. Now wants me to get off of Elavil 25mg and Adderal 15mg. Doctor says take the Neurontin for sleep. The Elavil works best for pain, but I can hardly get up in the mornings and it has made me gain 10 plus pounds and counting. I take Clonapin 0.5mg twice a day. Getting off the Elavil, I am having cold feet and hands and a very unsettling feeling and absolutley no energy.
1387710 tn?1286267995 By the reason of that nerves from the spinal cord can be irritated causing weakness in the leg, leg/thigh pain and numbness, tingling. Few persons also face generalized body weakness and numbness due to other nerve irritation on back. If you suffer continuous weakness and notice reduced strength of muscle bulk in both the legs, please arrange an appointment with a neurologist right away who will evaluate the possibilities here.
Avatar f tn on her. She has had chronic leg pain related to a surgical issue decades ago, and has been on Neurontin for this, up to 900 mg per day, but she has cut herself back to 600 mg/day unless her leg pain is very severe. She always feels as if floating, even if she is lying in bed. She has to ask someone in her presence if she is moving her head because she can't tell herself if she is. She lists to the right, and now she has episodes of speech impairment, almost an expressive aphasia.
422172 tn?1215990852 It sounds to me as if you are having nerve pain. A good medicine for that is Neurontin and Mirapex. I would ask your Dr about it. I personally take Neurontin. I hope you get relief soon from it.
Avatar f tn I use Neurontin and it works wonders! At 1200mg/day, I started having side effects (balance and vision problems) so I had to back off to 900mg/day. I am thinking about giving Lyrica a chance after this pregnancy when I go back onto meds.
1674301 tn?1304097237 Drs found by using a emg to messure electric pulses, that the cont pain, pins and needles up and down my left leg are from nerve damage I also has nerve damage to both arms all of this is a result of narowing space that pinches the nervres. I get steroid/lidocade injections directly to the nerves in my L4-5 S1 joints. It hlps with the pain but doesn't help the nerological symtoms. Since you have limited medical, I could sugest looking for a community or low cost accupunturist.
1490854 tn?1288377107 My fibro has been really bad this year. Along with it, I also have a bi-polar disorder which caused me to be in a manic state for about six weeks. During that time I couldn't sleep. I took all kinds of sleeping pills etc. and I still would only manage 3-4 hours sleep a night. After my doc. got my manic under control, I had the worst fibro pain I've ever had. I've tried Lyrica and Neurontin years ago and they didn' t help much and I didn't like the side effects.
1322901 tn?1274615330 I was put on cymbalta last october and it has seemed to hep tremedously with the hip and leg pain.... Maybe it might help.
Avatar n tn I met with my surgeon today (12 weeks post-surgery) and asked about my leg pain. He told me that my nerves are probably still inflamed and irritable. He also believes weaning from long-term narcotic use may have something to do with the recent increase in pain. Don't get me wrong, I love and trust my surgeon. He has an excellent reputation and my experience with him has been nothing but positive.
Avatar f tn Since then, I have had referred pain which gives me bad headaches. I have worked with a Physical Therapist for a while and he feels that it is coming from the first 2-3 true ribs and neck area. I have tried trigger point injects which did not work well. I had been on different preventative meds for headaches (nortryptyline, depakote, lyrica, topomax) for 5 yrs but stopped due to side effects. I have not tried neurontin and was prescribed this by my family physician.
Avatar m tn The only thing that helped my leg pain was a spinal fusion. Even very high dosages of various narcotics didn't touch the type rof leg pain I was experiencing. I still suffer with low back pain, but I'm very glad to be rid of that leg pain. It's absolutely horrible! I wish your wife's Grandpa good luck, and good treatment with his ongoing leg pain.
Avatar f tn It seems to help a little with some of the pain sensations I get, not so much with the others, and it never seems to lower my pain level more than a few numbers on the scale. I was up to taking 300mg 3x per day but most days now I only take it at night, unless I'm having a lot of trouble with the tingly, shocky kind of pain. It makes a lot of people sleepy, but it seems NOTHING really makes me sleepy - even sleep meds :-(. However it does make me extremely stupid!
