Avatar f tn I was on neurontin for nerve pain following a spinal injury and prior to surgery. It relieved my nerve pain and the side effects lessened after a few days. I didn't take the full dose though, and I stopped taking it after the surgery.
1264955 tn?1381782221 I have had horrible total body pain, many sleepless nights and horrid hip pain when I try to sleep. I had an x-ray and I don't have arthritis in my hips. Could this by fibro? I am just going to start Lyrica for the second time today. I quit taking it about six months ago because of the appetite increase....and I am trying to recover from a lifelong eating disorder. I also had minimal pain while on it and thought I could go off of it....wrong.
Avatar f tn For two years I have been experiencing severe pain in my left hip which radiates down the leg to the foot, as well as numbness and tingling in both feet and pain in the toes. The pain is worst when sitting down, lying down or bending over, and as a result i stand most of my waking hours. It is suspected to be sciatica, but I have not been able to obtain a diagnosis, largely because the CT_Scan and MRI of the lower back, which show some minor problems, show no nerve compression.
Avatar f tn My wife was prescribed neurotin for severe hip pain. She had a total hip replcacement after falling down some basement stairs 5 yrs ago Feb. Believe it or not tripped over a cat, HUGE CAT ! Her right leg is 1 inch shorter than the left and there is an issue with nerves. They also gave her a TENS unit that applies electric shock to the areas of pain and relaxes the muscles around the area. These are working for now and beat the H**** out of the vicodin and valium.
Avatar f tn could this hip pain and then abdo pain be caused by nerves affected by the chiari?
Avatar f tn an ER doctor who she saw this week for extreme pain in the hip said he felt she should see a Rheumatologist. She has been worked up for Lupus and had had 3 ANAs come back positive, but not Lupus. She has almost become crippled by this hip problem and pain and pain meds and Neurontin do nothing to help. Her fatjher has Multiple Sclerosis and I am desperate to find out what is wrong with her. She is becoming very depressed to be so sick at such a young age. She also has IBS.
Avatar f tn Neurontin is a nerve blocker to help w/neuropathy pain. I have been on it about 6 months for fibro. It seems to help a little with some of the pain sensations I get, not so much with the others, and it never seems to lower my pain level more than a few numbers on the scale. I was up to taking 300mg 3x per day but most days now I only take it at night, unless I'm having a lot of trouble with the tingly, shocky kind of pain.
Avatar n tn Most of the time I still use the same number of pills per day of everything but I can switch up the schedule to get a milder or stronger effect depending on if I am having a good pain day or a flare up day. On flare up days, when I take the neurontin in conjunction with either percocet or valium 2 hours after the extended release morphine gets going, I get super fuzzy for awhile but my pain flare also goes down a lot too.

475300 tn?1312423126 Hi, I have been taking 300 mgs of gabba 3 times a day and it seems to be really helping. Here is my question.....I haven't been taking it as faithfully as I should for the last 4 or 5 days. Today my legs are aching like crazy, my right hip kept me up a good bit of the night and I really feel like crap. Is there a withdrawl from gabba? And do most people find that it works pretty good?
Avatar n tn I have had moderate to severe pain in my left thigh for about 5 years with varying degrees of pain in my left forearm and left buttock. In the last several months I have been also been experiencing some symptoms almost every day – beginning in the early afternoon my skin gets pink and is warm, then within the hour, I have body aches, slight fatigue, and joint pain mostly in my hands but sometimes in my shoulders.
Avatar f tn Talk to your doctor and try to get some help in finding out if your pain is nerve based because if it is Neurontin can help. Neurontin is used for nerve pain. Also you can talk to your doctor to find out if some of the pain is from muscle spasms because there is a medication that might help called flexeril. It's a muscle relaxer but in my experience not a very strong one so it may help. Have you been diagnosed with depression or fibromyalgia? Lyrica is used for both of these disorders.
1415174 tn?1453243103 I have sciatica symptoms and am wondering what drugs other than Tylenol and Ibuprofen, I can take for Sciatica pain, that isn't contraindicated with clonazepam. I have been on clonazepam for 30 years for cyclic vomiting syndrome/abdominal migraine. The sciatic pain is now intermittent (low one day high the next) and I have had it for 3 months. I see my NP tomorrow and wonder if there is anything I can suggest or ask for.
Avatar f tn My 10 year old son was perscribed gabapentin/neurontin (in combination with a few other drugs) for his nerve pain. It definitely helped but the side affects are a huge trade-off. He gained a considerable amount of weight too but I attruibuted that mostly to the fact that all he did was eat, sleep & be foggy - and wasn't able to be his normal active self. He's since been off the meds and the weight has come off too as he's now able to resume most his normal activities.
Avatar f tn I am having really awful intermittent pain in my arm. My neuro wrote a script for Lyrica. My big concern about these nerve pain drugs (Neurontin too) is the weight gain side effect. I struggle w/weight as it is and don't look forward to adding more. Please let me know what you may have experienced.

Avatar m tn I have been taking about 40mg of roxicet for 2 years due to hip pain. My doc recently advised me that I need to get off of the roxicet and gave me some clonidine and ativan to help with the withdrawals. Will these two drugs actually help or do I need to go to a detox center?
Avatar n tn Now I have low back pain AND hip pain. I have to take neurontin now on top of the pain/antiflammitory pills. Has anyone else out there experienced anything like this? It has been almost a year since I got the shot and I'm still hurting. I'm getting worried because the pain is starting to travel down my right leg. It's a deep burning pain that is constant and I just don't know what to do. The Dr. says it's neuropathy.
Avatar m tn My pain management dr has put me on Neurontin to help with thoracic back pain, I have herniated discs that basically are not going to be fixed, no doctor wants to touch it. My question is how is this drug for long term treatment of severe pain, he also has me on Norco but I am hesitant to take because of addiction potential. If anyone has any input please let me know.
279234 tn?1363105249 Hi Gang :) yes, I'm alive and still slightly broken. To put it bluntly, I feel like crap...but everyone says I look great (I hate that). Although I do like the weight dropping off. I'm still on the IVSM 1000 g once a month. Neurontin for nerve pain (which he just raised). Baclofen was just raised as well. For those of you who don't know, my DX is PPMS. On the 27th I go to the pain clinic.
8496079 tn?1398412516 Has the drug Gabapentin (generic for Neurontin) worked for Fibromyaglia pain within a few days of taking this medication for the horrible pain from the Fibro? I was put on Gabapentin (generic for Neurontin) yesterday by my doctor for my Fibromyalgia Condition in addition to the Norco 7.5/325 I can take up to 4 pills day as needed for the massive pain I'm in.
Avatar n tn I have tried a chiropractor, physical therapy, joined a gym(on the advice of a neurosurgeon)to strengthen my core, have had back surgery(for a cyst removal-which did not lessen my pain),have taken naprosyn, advil and am on cymbalta for my fibromyalgia and take neurontin for nerve pain(for my sciatica). I am now seeing a rhuematologist who has treated me for SI joint pain with cortisone and lido injections and now they say I have hip bursitis and have been treated with more injections.
Avatar f tn s of prednisone three times a day to try to get my flare under control and I take neurontin for pain, although I have to admit it does not help much with the bone pain but helps with the muscle pain. I also take Flexeril three times a day with a xanax to calm the muscles, I have severe spasticity in my hip and I usually get a nice shot of lidocaine in my back everytime I go to the Dr office. It is worth the money for the few hours of relief.
620923 tn?1452915648 On the 1-10 scale of pain, the average reduction in neuropathic pain for those in a study was slightly over 1. Which is significant if you're in a lot of pain, as I am. This is similar benefit to the low-dose cyclic antidepressants. I've heard others comment that over time your body may develop a tolerance to it, I think this may be my case, where I feel like I may need to increase the dose to get the same efficacy.
