neurontin

700212 tn?1240760820 Ive always had this thing about pain meds.
Avatar f tn I was taking neurontin 300mg/3x a day. It was working fairly well for about 3 weeks, then started not working...they thought I needed a higher dose, but then my old doctor told me it was all in my head and took me off all meds! It did make me tired and actually made me a little depressed. So while I was taking it my doctor put me on Cymbalta to kind of counter act the depression. Which made me even more tired.
Avatar f tn All tests were normal. I recently went to a pain specialist and he thought I might have intercostal neuralgia and put me on neurontin, the medicine wasn' t helping so I am no longer taking it. That is where I am at now and do not know what to do at this point or who to go to next. I do notice that the pain seems to get worse around menstruation or change in the weather, when it is cold out. I use a heating pad to help with the pain and the pain is always there.
Avatar f tn I recently went to my GP to get help for ever stronger pains in my legs due to nerve damage in my back when he refused to increase my dose of oxycodone he gave me an anti epeliptic drug called GABAPENTIN, that day i started my 3 a day dose and to my supprize in the morning when i woke where id normally have rly bad cravings and terrible aches i woke calm ache free and no knotted feeling in my stomach ( i still had my back pain but thats due to real pain not withdrawls) i was slightly puzzle
Avatar m tn That is what I call Tweeks, you get tweeked and more pain for about three days to a week. I was on Neurontin and actually have myofascial pain but they thought it may have been a nerve at first. The neurontin didn't do a thing for me. I was on 1200mg/day and it took me two months to get off of it because I got insomnia and had to take benedryl to get off of it and be able to sleep. It is low on side effects except feeling tired and dumb.
Avatar f tn This is all so interesting and I thank you for sharing. I take Neurontin ONLY at night bc it helps me sleep but I otherwise hate the way the drug makes me feel. It surprises me that it is abused, but that would explain why lyrica is controlled-it must have some abuse potential. The kicker on this all is that I don't have an addictive personality. I allowed myself to become addicted this time, but I'm in my late 40's. If I ever get out of this mess,I'm not going back.
Avatar f tn But, I read about botox injections and something else ....with medications that I am avoiding. For the moment, I take neurontin, and lamotrigine. And I was on morphine patches which I decided to stop. The doctor prescibed Trazadone which will help me sleep But, it is unfriendly to tardive dyskinesia;so, I plan to stop it as well......I appreciate your answering. It is hell.... At times, I feel so low that hope to die. Oh, I forgot: I am taking vit.
Avatar f tn i have been taking gabapentin for about 3 months now for a pain in the neck, head and eye which i have had for 8 months, a week ago i started waking up and feeling sick, very gassy and burping most of the day with my stomach making gassy noises, i have upset stomach every morning too.
Avatar f tn com are two that will list millions of medications and a bunch of side effects and so forth. But I WILL say this, you should stay on your Neurontin, it is a good medicine for what ails you, and simply drink extra water, and you should not have a bunch more digestive problems than you already have, except for this note, that all medicines have the side effect to some degree or another of upsetting the tummy, so you have to follow instructions as to whether to take it with or without food...
Avatar f tn Neurontin is not really geared for the direct neck pain. Neurontin is for the pain that radiates in the limbs. I was told this by two doctors and I did try it anyways. I have very severe neck pain. Is this something they can surgically fix? If it is, then I would be looking for a good neurosurgeon asap. It may not take care of the pain, but it will stop from the progressing damage that may occur. Your injury is at a very dangerous level. Good luck with the spinal tap today.
630344 tn?1280104983 I'm taking the generic form, just recently resumed but have used it in the past. Neurontin is Rx-ed for nerve pain as an "off label" use, that it, treating nerve pain is not the function for which it was designed so it's not listed as a use on the manufacturer's label. It is actually an anti-seizure med, but it was found to also reduce neuropathy in patients. It is my understanding that Lyrica works much in the same way, and is a newer medication by the same company.
1310035 tn?1305621642 Neurontin (brand name for gabapentin) helps with nerve pain. It is very commonly used in MS. Another med for this purpose is Lyrica. If one doesn't work or the side efffects are too much, then the other can be tried, but the two are very similar. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn I have many issues with my back including 5 surgerys and I have also taken Neurontin. It has not been effective in my teatment for pain but it has been effctive for my nerve issues. Good luck with everything.....
1490607 tn?1288379690 Has any one heard of or experienced being on Cymbalta and/or Neurontin and where the side effects suddenly became MS like symptoms after being on them for a year?
645800 tn?1466860955 Of late I have been having a lot of pain and am looking for maybe some suggestions of how to deal with it. It is in the area of my stomach and sides just below my rib cage and think it is due to spasticity of those muscles. Normally I am fine but if I cough or sneeze it just about brings me to my knees. Each day it seems to be located in another area one day in the middle, next day the left side, then back to the middle followed by the right side.
Avatar f tn Currently on 300 mgs. of neurontin 2 times a day for chronic pain. Can I smoke marijuana while taking this medication, or should I stop taking the meds. ? My goal is to get off the med. if marijuana will help the pain.
1207048 tn?1282174304 I take amitryptyline for pain and it does seem to help, though I should probably ask to raise the dosage. You definitely need to give it time though. The first two days I took it I felt like a complete zombie the next day, could barely function. But I decided to give it a week before giving up and I guess I adjusted to it, or it to me, and now I feel normal during the day, but it does help with the pain and sleep.
1490854 tn?1288377107 My fibro has been really bad this year. Along with it, I also have a bi-polar disorder which caused me to be in a manic state for about six weeks. During that time I couldn't sleep. I took all kinds of sleeping pills etc. and I still would only manage 3-4 hours sleep a night. After my doc. got my manic under control, I had the worst fibro pain I've ever had. I've tried Lyrica and Neurontin years ago and they didn' t help much and I didn't like the side effects.
2190999 tn?1504988891 Is Neurontin the drug of choice for all over prickly tingles as well as pain in your feet? If it's not, what is the treatment?
Avatar n tn i had neck surgry Jan 2012. i am still in a lot of pain at times due to my work. will neurontin. have any effects on the muscle relaxer i take now, which is tizadine?
Avatar f tn My psychiatrist is thinking about it for my anxiety, since nothing is working since a terrible and weird and untreated Paxil withdrawal four years ago. And to the poster, she says it's okay to take with klonopin, if that's any help, since I'm on klonopin and asked her about that.
1855076 tn?1337115303 s police department FB page that they had a list of drugs that are being abused and some arrests have been made and Neurontin has been included. Just never really see much about it and heard that it really is great for some people for nerve pain. (I believe it was originally an anti-seizure medication.
Avatar n tn i have been on neurontin for about 2 years. it can be used to treat nerve pain, and of course it's a seizure medication. It does work, however give it a bit to get into your system. Also, you may have to adjust your dosage depending on your tolerance to it. I was taking 600's twice a day, and it will make you dizzy, and not so much out of it, but a bit slow to react. however, everyone is different. Once they lowered my dose to 300, I was quite content on it.
Avatar f tn From my own experience, and reading about others' experiences, and literature on doses expected to provide relief, then if I understood you correctly, that you're currently on 3,000 mg per day, I don't think Neurontin is going to work for you. I have back pain and it went away overnight with your medicine's cousin Lyrica. If I misread what you wrote, and you're just on 300mg daily, you may need some increases, as you said the doc would do, until you DO get relief.
1221035 tn?1301000508 I can sit for up to 5-7 minutes before a flow begins. Not sure if it is the neurontin or a pain medication. I have nerve damage and need both medications.
Avatar f tn I was on neurontin for nerve pain following a spinal injury and prior to surgery. It relieved my nerve pain and the side effects lessened after a few days. I didn't take the full dose though, and I stopped taking it after the surgery.
Avatar f tn I know opiates. I know the pleasure and pain of them. I got the neurontin from a Ear, Nose and Throat specialist. I have had sinus headaches and facial pain for many years. I ALWAYS have a sinus infection. At least thats what my regular doctor tells me. So I went to a specialist. Had some CAT scans. He has not read the films yet but said he does NOT feel its my sinuses since my nose is never runny or stuffy, its always clear and I am a definite nose breather..
