neurontin

Avatar f tn If the feeling has returned, then damage was not 100%. You should consult a neurologist and get a nerve conduction study done. Also if the would has not healed, possibility of diabetes should be looked into. Take care!
Avatar f tn Neurontin, Lyrica for the nerve pain, and Baclophen or Flexeril for the muscle spasms. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn I have been told I had damage, possible caused by infection, to my 5 and 7 facial nerves, because of a year long infection to 5 lower teeth that were eventually extracted and then had dry sockets. The upper nerve pain has subsided somewhat, but now the lower gums and jaw feel hot and like thousands of needles are pricking the area. Ice and oral jel does temporarily ease the pain... is there anything I can do or is there a better topical I can apply to help with the pain.
Avatar f tn I assume you have not had the surgery so it sounds like nerve damage. You need to talk to to your doctor and tell him your medication is not working and see what options he/she can offer.

Avatar n tn for neuro related pain (from nerve damage, shingle, peripheral neuropathy) , sometimes for depression and anxiety and other psych issues. While it is not a narcotic, it needs to be slowly tapered when discontinued.
Avatar m tn 2 weeks post op and pain at surgical site is fine but entire rt side of head on fire and feels numb and having swallowing issues. Saw surgeon and he said I have damage to occipital nerves from surgery. Treatment is neurontin (which I hate) and occipital nerve blocks every few weeks. He said it may heal in a few months, years or never! Pain prior to surgery was 2/10. Now 9/10. Am crushed! Anyone have this?
Avatar n tn What could be causing me to have all of them. I am under pretty good control as I take neurontin and namenda. Before I was put on namenda i was having rhizotomies almost every three months due to the excruciating pain.
Avatar m tn Question for everyone....I am taking Gabapentin for "permanent" sciatic nerve damage. The Gabapentin works great, aside from the fact that I get brain fog and drowsiness. This drug separates me from pain, however, makes me a zombie! Does anyone know of a drug or supplement that I can take with the Gabapentin to combat the somnolence?
Avatar f tn I was on neurontin for nerve pain following a spinal injury and prior to surgery. It relieved my nerve pain and the side effects lessened after a few days. I didn't take the full dose though, and I stopped taking it after the surgery.
Avatar f tn When the surgery was in progress the surgeon needed to do a more extensive procedure and dissect adhesions connected to the annulus (the covering of the disc) This extra manipulation and movement of nerve tissue could result in the symptoms you are currently experiencing. The fact that you have seen minimal response after three months of conservative treatment would indicate the need for further evaluation. This could include the MRI you requested.
Avatar f tn Especially considering my health, I have low back issues, have had major back surgery, permenent nerve damage that affects my legs and also was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes a year and a half ago at the age of 27. I have been on medication for my back issues for almost 2 years, I take Norco 10/325 4 times a day and Neurontin 300 mgs 3 times a day.
Avatar n tn I also have nerve damage and neurontin made me crazy. The doctor prescribed Gabitril and it worked great for me. There is not really anything that can be done for nerve pain. You can block it with pain shots from a pain specialist or take pain pills. Maybe taking a hot shower, muscle rubs, and anti inflammatory like ibuprofen will help for now. Try and get her into a doctor asap and check on the shots or a TENS unit. My tens helps me when my nerves get out of whack. Best of luck to you both.
Avatar f tn Even I feel something is happening in my head.. very much weakness while walking..
Avatar m tn Trembling/shaking, delusions, dementia - all listed in the side effects of Gabapentin on Drugs.com. I took it for a short period of time for nerve damage and all it did was make me tired...I wasn't on it but 5 or so days so I stopped taking it. If I were you I would call your Dr's office. Wishing you good luck!
Avatar n tn I now take one Lyrica before bed and it has helped me IMMENSELY with the nerve pain/damage in my arm and hand without feelng foggy. I am now only taking Lyrica and Motrin. Works very well for me. I dont see how it could be abused as it doesnt give any euphoric effects.
Avatar f tn Do you feel that this is related to stopping Neurontin ??? Also, are Neurontin and Lyrica the same drug? I have been hearing this, but have not found anything to support this in my google search. Do you have any opinions about the use of Neurontin for opiate withdrawal? Nauty..........
Avatar n tn I use these for back pain and for a rotator cuff tear and it is very effective for me but I am also thin. My nerve damage has not repaired itself and usually it does not. Trying to find the painful nerve source is not easy and is not as straight forward as it would appear.
Avatar n tn The hydromorphone will not relieve the pain and burning if he does have nerve damage and he will need a separate medicine for that. I hope he is doing better soon and you fine the cause of his symptoms. He has a supportive wife and this is important.
630344 tn?1280104983 I'm taking the generic form, just recently resumed but have used it in the past. Neurontin is Rx-ed for nerve pain as an "off label" use, that it, treating nerve pain is not the function for which it was designed so it's not listed as a use on the manufacturer's label. It is actually an anti-seizure med, but it was found to also reduce neuropathy in patients. It is my understanding that Lyrica works much in the same way, and is a newer medication by the same company.
1602878 tn?1304336016 I have a tethered cord with many surgeries in the low back which caused a great deal of scar tissue and nerve damage. I also have periverial neuropathy and some small nerve fiber neuropathy. Any ideas how to help calm those nerves asap? I have tried pain meds, muscle relaxers, lidocaine patches, cold packs, heat packs, relaxation, and prayer. A lot of it is sciatica. Then there is the normal pain from the knee replacement.open to ideas.
Avatar m tn I suggest that you discuss with your doctors regarding rehabilitation exercises, as well as medications for neuropathies such as Vitamin B complex and/or neurontin. Until then, make sure you have adequate rest and avoid stress as much as possible (though I understand this maybe hard to do). Regards and God bless.
Avatar f tn What is the connection between femoral nerve blocks and subsequent neuropathic pain. I have had two TKR's and had nerve blocks with each. I now have numbness, tingling and frequent pain in both legs. I have seen a neurologist and am now in a pain clinic and am scheduled for a spinal cord stimulator. What are your thoughts for how this may alleviate my situation.
Avatar f tn Just did some research and couldn't find any correlation between alcohol and radial neuropathy other then what is refered to as Saturday Night Palsy - caused by the arm being compressed against the edge of the bar. It is possible that he has compressed it enough in such a manner that it's damaged. Prednisone is used to treat neuropathy, as well as neurontin and Lycira. It's possible that his history of drinking is why he wasn't prescibed the other 2.
1674301 tn?1304097237 Drs found by using a emg to messure electric pulses, that the cont pain, pins and needles up and down my left leg are from nerve damage I also has nerve damage to both arms all of this is a result of narowing space that pinches the nervres. I get steroid/lidocade injections directly to the nerves in my L4-5 S1 joints. It hlps with the pain but doesn't help the nerological symtoms. Since you have limited medical, I could sugest looking for a community or low cost accupunturist.
