1511591 tn?1290728687 Hello, White heads like bumps on body can be due to folliculitis skin, viral infections like chicken pox or molluscum lesions. Folliculitis is the inflammation of one or more hair follicles. The condition may occur anywhere on the skin. It starts when hair follicles are damaged by friction from clothing or blockage of the follicle. In most cases of folliculitis, the damaged follicles are then infected with the bacteria Staphylococcus (staph). Avoid any kind of cosmetics.

Avatar m tn Boils are caused by infection of the hair follicle by staph aureus.Bacterial skin infections can be spread by shared cosmetics or washcloths, close human contact, or by contact with pus from a boil or carbuncle. Apply warm compresses on the boil and keep the area clean.Drainage of the boil is done only when it becomes soft and forms a head.Take some over the counter pain reliever and consult a doctor for examination and antibiotics prescription.

People with depressed immune systems, diabetes, or obesity have a greater risk of contracting folliculitis than the general population.
Avatar n tn Use hot compresses to bring it to a head. Go online and check staph infections and you can see what they look like. Some say it is contagious, some say it isn't. My husband never got it. Hope you get it cleared up. Let me know what happens. I am curious as to what your dr does. They leave scars, too. Go while you have the infection before it drains so he can test it. There is one MRSA. Staph can be life threatening, as you will see when you read information on it.

Avatar f tn Accidentally, I sprayed mupirocin/Dextamethasone 5GM/45ML/0.1%, a compounded nasal preparation, in my eye. I rinsed the eye with water for about one minute. Eye has had 5 retina surgeries, has band kerapothy, and no lens. PCC told me it's ok because the mupirocin is also used for eye preparations. Correct?

Avatar n tn Hi This may be a fungal infection with an overlying bacterial infection. Culture of the discharge and culture of the of skin scrapings from the scalp may help ascertain the diagnosis. Hair loss is due to scalp conditions like tinea capitis, discoid lupus and seborrheic dermatitis. You may need oral antifungals or antibiotics for this. Treating the underlying scalp condition will help revert the hair loss.
Avatar n tn I can not see the hair underneath the skin which has kept me from removing it myself. I have tried using a warm/hot towel to soften the skin and raise the hair, but it did not work. I have used a needle to try to find the hair under the skin, but only made a pin-cushion out of my penis... ouch. I would like to avoid seeing a doctor due to money constraints and a lack of medical insurance.... can anyone please help me?

Avatar n tn I ended up having a yeast infection (never got tested for it, but had all the symptoms and visually it looked just like other penile yeast infections and was irritated only when left moist and damp.) On top of having unprotected sex with my co worker, I was drinking a lot of beer / alcohol at the time, eating unhealthy, surfing a lot, sacrificing personal hygiene, and smoking cigarettes (which lowered my immune system) - pretty much asking for a yeast infection.
