Mupirocin nostril

Common Questions and Answers about Mupirocin nostril

bactroban

Avatar f tn I have about a pencil eraser-size white patch in my nostril. It is flat, nontender. I went to an urgent care clinic to have this checked and the doctor was at a loss. Her recommendation was Vaseline to the area for 2-3 weeks and if not resolved, then to see my primary. Well, it hasn't gone away and it's starting to scare me. I will be making an appt. with my primary in the next week, but was just wondering if anyone else has ever had something similar.
612551 tn?1450022175 Some docs recommend heavier ointments, and among them, a topical nasal antibiotic called Mupirocin or Bactroban is remarkably effective in preventing bleeding. However, since it's an antibiotic, doctors don't want to prescribe it for long-term use. Anyhow, for the nose-bleed crowd--as you point out--there are at-home measures the patient can take. It can also be worth asking the doctor if you've got an overgrown Kiesselbach's Plexus and if so, could it be cauterized.
Avatar m tn I decided to make a dermatologist appointment, and she prescribed Nystatin and Mupirocin for the time being, and took two cultures, one of the corners of my mouth and one in my nose to check for bacteria. I had to mix the two prescriptions together 2-3 times a day for 5 days. The condition definitely got better, but was still somewhat visible. The results of the cultures came back last week and I apparently had a minor staph infection in my nose, so she prescribed Bactroban Nasal.
Avatar m tn There's redness around and under my nostril/nose and when I stretched that area out I can see tiny little white razor bumps look alike on it. Does anyone know what this is and how can I fix it? I'm more concerned about the redness because you can't really see the little bumps unless i really stretched that area out. Help please.
Avatar n tn Topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment are also useful. In case the symptoms persist then oral antibiotics may be needed.Pls consult a dermatologist in that case. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing and if you have any additional queries.
Avatar m tn Now today the edge of my right nostril is getting painful again. It actually is the entire edge of my nostril into the tissue that divides one nostril from the other. It's been going on too long and I too and wondering what sort of doc to go to. It's very painful right now, almost throbbing as I'm sitting here typing. Has anybody found out anything about what this could be???
Avatar n tn I've been having a similar experience, but my lumps don't seem small. I had one in my right nostril initially a couple of weeks ago at the same time I got a cold that made my nose look deformed and made it painful to touch. I went away without coming to a head. Now I have two huge ones on my forehead and cheek, both on the right side, and another coming on on the right side of my chin. The two I tried to squeeze out and they've been oozing for a couple of days.
Avatar f tn Accidentally, I sprayed mupirocin/Dextamethasone 5GM/45ML/0.1%, a compounded nasal preparation, in my eye. I rinsed the eye with water for about one minute. Eye has had 5 retina surgeries, has band kerapothy, and no lens. PCC told me it's ok because the mupirocin is also used for eye preparations. Correct?
5123318 tn?1417395836 You can try measures to reduce colonisation of the nose and spread (for example, by using 2% mupirocin cream or ointment applied inside the nostril 3 times per day for 5 days each month). It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar m tn It was originally identified as staph and treated with Mupirocin and Clobetasol by my Dr. Unfortunately 2 weeks of use has done nothing. I haven't been able to see her again so I figured I'd post here. I have a feeling this could be fungal, but am not sure. As you can see in the pic, it is a red irritation and slightly raised. It has shown only minor response to both clobetasol and mupirocin. It has never itched.

Avatar m tn But, I thought I applied mupirocin onto my face because of a minor injury. So I am wondering if mupirocin could affect my test result and made it false-negative?
Avatar f tn Thanks for your response. Will I be able to get mupirocin over the counter? Since I don't have ins, can't go to the doctor. Thanks.
Avatar m tn will this cause worse scarring? I apply ointment onto it daily that contains mupirocin. how long should it take to heal?
