Avatar m tn Over the next few years I went to other doctors and a dermatologist, given such medications as bactrim, clindamycin, doxycyclin, mupirocin ointment, etc. None have worked. I went to a primary care doctor last week who performed a general bacterial culture on one of the sores I squeezed and sent of to the lab. The test came back negative and didn't identify any other bacteria present.
Avatar m tn Topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment are also useful. In case the symptoms persist then oral antibiotics may be needed.Pls consult a dermatologist in that case. I hope that helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.Kind regards.
Avatar n tn They have started me on Bactrim DS oral antibiotic and a cream called mupirocin 2% ointment 22GM that you put in the nose with a q-tip.. These sores quickly spread to my neck and are now in my back under the skin as well! My son came home from school with a cut from another child, and a week later developed blisters over that very cut. Then we later found out that boy who cut my son has MRSA and that's how I got it. Please stop touching them, you spread it this way!
Avatar m tn Earlier this afternoon (july 7th), i ended up going to urgent care and the doctor said i had impetigo, and he wrote me up a prescription for antibiotic ointment (Mupirocin Ointment USP, 2%) and sent me on my way. I still have some questions though! 1.) i read that impetigo is highly contagious. How contagious is it? i always wash my hands after i apply the ointment, and I don't touch the area at all, except when im putting the ointment on. 2.
934035 tn?1244792180 I have been to the doctors for it before hundreds of times and the give me the same antibiotic cream but it never works. i was tested for MRSA and all the other good stuff, but nothing! I would like to know what they are and get a some kind of treatment for them that i can buy at any drug store under the counter! Plus i have dark scaring from where they were! can anyone help me? I am so embarressed to wear a bathing suit cause i'm afraid everyone will see the scars!
Avatar m tn s unlikely that the headache is from Mupirocin ointment. Systemic effects are rare with this ointment. Local reactions like rash, erythema and tenderness are likely to occur. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn will this cause worse scarring? I apply ointment onto it daily that contains mupirocin. how long should it take to heal?
Avatar n tn He has 2 boys from his previous marriage. The youngest has a lot of skin issues and has contracted MRSA. Since meeting my husband, we have all had bouts with boils caused by MRSA. We've tried just about everything.. and we really just deal with them now. Get on antibiotics, put the mupirocin in the nose, etc. I had a couple boils over a year ago.. then didn't have anymore for probably 10 months.. then here in the past 3 months..
Avatar n tn I did - this was not only eye problems - inflammation/pain/swelling - which resulted in a growth behind my eye - I aquired MRSA while hospitalized. This has been two weeks... I now have experienced daily bleeding from my rectum in my stools (which are very loose) - the blood is apparent. I am reluctant to go back to the hospital. I need to know what this bleeding is in reference to... Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn Well she had a surgery about 6 months ago and we received mupirocin ointment for it. I was curious to find out if the mupirocin ointment would have any affect on her sores? I know it's to fight infection and bacterial growth but I was hoping it would alleviate her pain and sooth her raw hot spot. Thanks in advance!
Avatar m tn Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove. Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment are also useful. In case the symptoms persist then oral antibiotics may be needed. Please consult a dermatologist in that case. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.

Avatar f tn Follow the package insert. And see if they go away. Mupirocin (Bactroban) topical will also kill MRSA (I think this is prescription only). So there are lots of topicals that can kill it if you actually got it. They probably would give you an oral pill if you are not allergic to sulfa drugs Bactrim works and many other antibiotics. So try not to worry just because it could be MRSA. I think you just have pimples.

Avatar f tn I recently called in a old prescription for mupirocin 2% ointment. My question is if I use it as directed will it help clear up these ugly bites? Summer is coming up and I don't want my legs to look bad this summer please help and let me know if the cream will work!
Avatar m tn The physician could not tell whether it was a bite, but was more concerned that it might be community-based MRSA and gave me a prescription for Mupirocin. I went to a dermatologist on Monday and again she was not sure what it was. The first lesion is nearly healed, but I've had about 3 others appear on the same arm which are healing. Yesterday I discovered a larger lesion, which was scaly, circular with the small hole in it.
Avatar m tn MRSA? I am 65 and live alone. I don't have illnesses [arthritis & hypothyroid]. Pre-surgically [for knee replacement] I had a nasal swab for Staph. IT WAS Positive!?! It was "colonized" or whatever. But between knowing this and never in my life ever having surgery caused me debilitating anxiety. I was given ointment to apply intra-nasally 2X a day for 5 days. I cancelled my left Total knee. My family is shunning me. I feel like a leper.
616582 tn?1225068601 Bactroban is actually mupirocin not an ointment of Bactrim. So it is a different antibiotic. If you were allergic to Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprin) I would think you would react to it all over your body if it is a pill form. A lot of people are allergic to the sulfa drug in the Bacterim. Did you have a pill or ointment? The ointment is called Bactroban (Mupirocin). So if you took the bactrim pill for your sinus infection you usually break out all over or at least on the chest.
Avatar n tn Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment are also useful. Also please consult a dermatologist to get the diagnosis confirmed. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar f tn The lesions lOOK just like what I see online for impetago photos and the derm did just give me mupirocin topical so he must now be considering it possible impetago.......it might, might be improving ???? on this the third day of mupirocin but if it is it is very SLOW improvement (if any) and still some new lesions come daily. It is a blistery type rash. It does not itch but is VERY painful and bleeds or oozes clear fluid. Until they drain, the area swells which hurts a lot.
Avatar f tn s not bad now but I would like to treat it on my own, and I still have some Mupirocin 2% topical cream left. Will this work? Again I would like to avoid the doctor again because I am an 18 year old girl and I'm very embaressed about this.... Please respond ASAP. THANK YOU. HM.
Avatar f tn Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment are also useful. In case the symptoms persist then oral antibiotics or incision and drainage may be needed.Pls consult a dermatologist in that case. Also then the other possibilities of infected sebaceous cyst and swollen lymph node has to be explored. I hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.Kind regards.
Avatar f tn I know this is old, but I was searching for a reason why the prednisolone my son (8, who has autoimmune encephalitis and is a carrier for MRSA) has MRSA outrbreaks from this nostrils but they do not respond to mupirocin, only prednisolone (which he takes to reduce brain inflammation and it just so happens he gets MRSA sores when his flares start). I thought it odd as well that an immune suppressant would yield such quick results in healing a bacterial infection.
Avatar f tn Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment are also useful and you can take oral antiinflammatories like ibuprofen/acetaminophen after consulting your doctor. In case the symptoms persist then oral antibiotics may be needed. Please consult a dermatologist in that case. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar n tn The last few day I noticed white heads (small pumps filled with puss) started forming mostly on the pink ink of my tattoo. Then it started to really itch. I went to the doctor and was prescribed Mupirocin ointment & Doxycycline (oral antibiotic). I just started using it today. Hopefully this will work.
