Mupirocin antibiotic cream

Common Questions and Answers about Mupirocin antibiotic cream

bactroban

Avatar m tn Hello, Instead of Fucidin which is a topical antibiotic, you can use other topical antibiotics like Mupirocin or Neosporin. Folliculitis starts when hair follicles are damaged by friction from clothing or blockage of the follicle. In most cases of folliculitis, the damaged follicles are then infected with the bacteria Staphylococcus (staph). Please keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics.
Avatar n tn Be extremely careful about personal hygiene. Application of antiseptic washes may help prevent recurrences. A topical antibiotic cream, mupirocin (Bactroban®), has been effective at reducing bacterial colonization in the nostrils. It is applied twice daily for a week and is repeated every 6 months. After the lesions have healed you could try waxing. Let us know if you need any other information and consult a skin specialist if the lesion is persistent. Regards.

Avatar m tn Told it was a bacteria given the cortisone cream but can not get red of it.
Avatar m tn When I went to a urologist, he told me the skin test pretty much said I had a bacterial infection and told me to continue taking a cream called Muripocin. I woke up this morning and noticed little bumps on my foreskin that were itchy. When I touched them a little bit of water came out. What could this be?
Avatar f tn Please do not apply anything except for some antibiotic cream like Neosporin or Mupirocin on the area and do not mess with it. Also wear cotton clothes and keep the area sweat free. If the symptoms still persist then you can apply mild steroid like dermacort and get it examined from a dermatologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar n tn The best treatment for that is to use an antibiotic cream (like metronidazole) and a short course of an oral antibiotic like doxycycline. Also, to avoid using cortisone in the area. Ask you dermatologist about this at your follow-up visit. This condition goes entirely away and leaves no marks. Best. Dr.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone! I've had cellulitis for a many months now. My doctor first put me on Bactrim, and I had a rash all over my body and developed a fungal infenction as well. This was on day 8 of 10 on Bactrim. The doctor switched me to Keflex, and this time, that same day I got another rash all over my body. Then, she gave me a cream call Muciprocin, but i've been using it for over a week and see no improvement, although no rashes. Has this happened to anyone?
Avatar n tn Hey there about a week ago i felt a lil soreness under my penis and eventually that area turned red and a little puss started comming out that area grew bigger i applied some antibiotic cream and all eventually it went down a little but i am worried what could it be. I even went to the doc he said its a cyst.... but i am just worried how long does it takes to go away and if there is any way to get rid of it without any surgery???????
Avatar n tn Hi, thanks so much for your reply. I do wash the area regularly and I have E45 cream, and Hydrocortisone cream (for a tiny patch of eczema on my finger!) - would either of these help? The rash isn't sore or dangerous-looking, just not very attractive.I'm pretty sure I can rule out sebaceous cysts - from the pictures on the internet, anyway, as they look to be occuring on their own, and they are much bigger than what I have. And they stand out from the skin.

Avatar m tn They put me on an oral antibiotic but then the symptoms did not subside after a few days leading them to think it was HSV1 and they prescribed Valtrex. After a few days and some rest it went away and scabbed over. Note: The bumps on my lips went across the entire lip, oozed a yellowish- clear liquid, and then scabbed and healed. Fast forward 8 months later, I start getting more and more mini-outbreaks, not as bad as the first one.

1009876 tn?1326490077 The sore spots are only on my scalp, not my face. I have been putting antibiotic cream (clindasol) on the spots. It seems to make the soreness subside, but they're not going away. So far, Head and shoulders doesn't help. I'm going to change my shampoo to see if that helps.

Avatar f tn I finally went to a walk in doctor and was diagnosed with folliculitis.. I was prescribed an antibiotic twice daily for ten days and apply bactroban cream 2-3 times daily. I only have about 6 antibiotic pills left (3 days worth) and not much cream left either. However, the only relief I have had is the itching. I do not really have itching anymore and when I do it is minor and the cream really helps.
Avatar m tn I got fluconazole from the doctor for the yeast infection, but it did not go away completely (It healed and came back several times). Both times, doctor asked me to use an antibiotic cream (mupirocin/bactroban). I used it since Nov. 2013 to Feb. 2014. The cream kind of controlled the condition (I do not know I overused it). Then I went to see my dermatologist Feb. 7 2014. He again suspected my symptoms as HSV 1/2 and ordered me to do a blood test and prescribed me valtrex for five days.

Avatar n tn He gave me a steroid (nebulized) to decrease the internal swelling and I am about to start trying mupirocin (nebulized) for 3 weeks to see if that helps. I do have my doubts if this will work (mupirocin precisely). I have "klebsiella ozaenea" infection and I was under the impression mupirocin is effective on gram positive bacteria and the Ozaenea is a gram negative bacteria. I wanted to ask if any doctors on here can tell me if this is a good try.

Avatar n tn Sounds like a possible allergy to latex that is often in surgical tapes and bandages. Besides benedryl, have you tried cold compresses? Maybe just take a trip to a walk-in clinic and see what they suggest because the "pus filled" part of things may require an antibiotic cream too just to be on the safe side.
Avatar n tn Hello, You can use the antibiotic cream that your dermatologist has prescribed. Basically folliculitis is caused by a bacterial infection and hence the antibiotic cream will decrease the symptoms. You can use the warm compresses and warm water and also apply some antiseptics on the boils and infected hair follicles. If the cases are very severe then oral course of antibiotics may be needed. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn Give your Dr a call to ask what you can use. You may be able to use a topical antibiotic. Do check with your Dr first though.
