Instead of Fucidin which is a topical antibiotic, you can use other topical antibiotics like Mupirocin or Neosporin. Folliculitis starts when hair follicles are damaged by friction from clothing or blockage of the follicle. In most cases of folliculitis, the damaged follicles are then infected with the bacteria Staphylococcus (staph).
Please keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics.
The first doctor (my PCP) did a swab and determined bacteria growth and prescribed me Mupirocin 2% topical ointment. The redness did go down but not completely away. The second doctor (a dermatologist) which I saw almost a year later (more recently) also did a swab and found bacteria growth. He prescribed me Desonide 0.05% for 10 days, along with Cephalexin 500mg (3x/day) for 2 weeks. After the 10 days, I went on Mupirocin for 5 more days.

Since the skin tests have come positive for the bacterial infection, so you can continue with Mupirocin which is a topical antibiotics. For specific antibiotics the culture sensitivity test will come positive and then only can they be prescribed. An oral course of antibiotic can be taken for very severe cases.

Hi, thanks so much for your reply. I do wash the area regularly and I have E45 cream, and Hydrocortisone cream (for a tiny patch of eczema on my finger!) - would either of these help? The rash isn't sore or dangerous-looking, just not very attractive.I'm pretty sure I can rule out sebaceous cysts - from the pictures on the internet, anyway, as they look to be occuring on their own, and they are much bigger than what I have. And they stand out from the skin.

In addition, please don’t use any cosmetics on the penis, instead use some topical antimicrobials like Mupirocin .Also corticosteroids and topical immunosuppressants can be used but they are available under prescription. You can however use the antifungal+steroid cream that you have. Also retract the foreskin daily and soak in warm water to clean penis and foreskin.
It will subside within the week if you use mild soap without scrubbing. A hydrocortisone cream on the area will help if its painful or itchy. You'll see relief soon.
I have been applying hydrocortisone cream on my butt cheeks area for 4 weeks now twice a day, in hopes that these blemish/pimple-like bumps will go away but they still have not gone away. A topical antibiotic cream, mupirocin (Bactroban®), has been effective at reducing bacterial colonization in the nostrils. It is applied twice daily for a week and is repeated every 6 months.

I am on holiday far away from any doctor, I have been applying an anti-bacterial cream after I shower since I found them. Could it perhaps be from sitting in the same position for too long? (3 hour flight + 5 hour drive) If not that, any suggestions as to what it might be and any possible temporary treatment, until I get back home. Please, any help would be appreciated.

I went to my gp and they did a blood test for herpes which came back negative and i have also been trying cold sore cream on them but it does nothing. Sometimes they almost feel like they have gone away but then like a flick of a switch they start burning and itching like crazy. They get a little irritated when i clean my teeth from the toothpaste and sometimes they get irritated in the shower from the heat. Both times, doctor asked me to use an antibiotic cream (mupirocin/bactroban). I used it since Nov. 2013 to Feb. 2014. The cream kind of controlled the condition (I do not know I overused it). Then I went to see my dermatologist Feb. 7 2014. He again suspected my symptoms as HSV 1/2 and ordered me to do a blood test and prescribed me valtrex for five days.

Wash the area with warm water and keep it dry and clean at most times. Apply mupirocin, an antibacterial cream over the area once daily and see if this responds. After 5 days, if this does not respond, have your doctor see this. If discharge is present and if the bumps increase in number, then we may need oral antibiotics for this.
