Avatar f tn I went to dr and they did many test, xray of lumbar-suggested mri. Had mri - bilaterial pars defect, ann. radial tears l/3,l4,l5,s1- moderate. Did physical therapy- no help saw neurosurgeon - he said problems were from fracture(bilaterial pars defect) needed surgery.Cant have anthesia so got second opinion-he said I was basicly faking but ordered a ct scan and put in his report that with surgery there was a high failure rate of good functional outcome.
Avatar n tn my doctor said i need an mri scan as a result of suffering with many symptoms for many months- he said i will receive a letter. does this mean he will book it for me or refer me? i live in the uk. anyone know anything about this?
Avatar n tn I had a brain mri scan for recurrent 'auras' thought to be due to migraine. The result of the scan came back normal except for a few spots of plaques. I am 50, is this normal? I am concerned that it is indicative of early degeneration associated with dementia.
Avatar f tn Hi, last year I had an MRI scan. I was having it as the Dr was looking to see if I had an AVM on the brain, I get a lot of headaches and have an AVM on my right forearm. When I went to see the Dr he told me my results, he said there is a malformation there but it isnt an AVM. He then pointed to the temporal lobes and said they are low. I should of asked him what that meant, but I never ask questions when Im there, I just say to myself I should of asked this and I should of asked that.
Avatar f tn Let me start by giving a bit of medical history... About 9 years ago I had trouble with blurry vision, fatigue and weakness in my hands. MS was suspected at that time because of some white matter lesions on my MRI. Had to have a lumbar puncture which showed nothing, so once my symptoms went away in a few months nothing more was said or done about it. Since I had no symptoms I kind of just put it away and forgot about it.
Avatar f tn s neurologist tried to shrug off the low lying tonsils that the CT scan showed as nothing, but I at least talked her into doing an MRI. Waiting for the results of the MRI and no matter what her current neurologist says I will be making an appointment for a Chiari specialist in Chicago - which is 3 hours from us. I know that her symptoms right now are not severe by any means - but at least want a specialist to look at the results. So another questions for everyone......
Avatar n tn I have not had a CT scan yet for this problem. Do you believe a CT-scan would be better than getting an abdominal MRI and MRI enterography? I am very worried about having the radiation from the CT scan since this would be my 3rd CT scan. What are the risks of having 3 CT scans? I do not want to replace one problem with another by potentially causing myself cancer down the line due to the CT radiation. Celiac disease has been ruled out.
Avatar f tn hello, i got a call from my 2nd opinion neurologist late yesterday afternoon to discuss an MRI w/contrast i had done as a follow-up to a scan performed on 2/1 which revealed c-spine inflammation on the anterior cord and "possible myelitis." i don't have the report in hand yet, but the doctor told me that this follow-up MRI w/contrast revealed that my t-spine is perfectly clear and that my c-spine showed only a 1mm signal which did not enhance from the contrast fluid.

Avatar f tn I had a CT scan done with and without contrast. The following is in the radiologist report: Prominent meningeal calcification is present on both sides of the midline near the vertex and a further more focal region of dense calcification lies on the left side of the superior sagittal sinus in the anterior parietal region and measures around 13mm in diameter .
Avatar f tn I had a MRI of my brain re-read by another radiologist and I need help understanding his findings before I see my doctor next week....this is the result/change that was noted from the first reading which was showing everything normal which I questioned. "I called Dr. XXXXXX with this result change. I beleive that the most likely etiology for this enhancement, especialy considering its somewhat linear appearance, is that of a very small venous anomaly.
Avatar f tn I had a regulary scheduled appointment yesterday with my Internal Medicine Doctor. He asked me if I had ever had a spinal MRI. I told him no and he said I really needed to have one. (he knows my neurological history and has seen my brain MRIs. I had a total spine MRI at 8:00 this morning. The Tech told me that they don't use the dye for this scan unless she sees something. After the scan.
Avatar n tn My seventy year old father complained of headaches and some weakness. Bringing him to the emergency room seemed precautionary, but his ct scan revealed a 'mass.' He is now having mri, and a complete battery of tests. I am so devastated because the first (ct scan) result seems like obvious brain tumor. Can you give me not false hope, but some reason for optimism? Is it possible the 'mass' could represent something else?
Avatar f tn t even know they have it until it is discovered on a CT scan or MRI. My husband was diagnosed with this post lumbar injury and until that time never had a problem. But, with the injury, it caused severe pain and irritated all those areas. Now, end plate changes are usually called Scuerrmanns and can be the product of injury. I am surprised your doctor didn't explain all of this. But, they might not discuss changes like that when considered to be mild.
Avatar n tn They can however, detect mental illness such as scitzophreneia which i know because i was diagnosed through an MRI. The only mental illness an MRI scan able detect is an actually different brain connections than that of a normal brain. Ive had one done for mental illess! Can you describe some of your symptoms, what you feel and how often yolou feel it? I know your question is based on needing to know where to get a private MRI scan, which i am unsure of!!
Avatar f tn Hey B I am sorry you are still left with questions...I hope your other apppt. with rheumy gives more answers..I am also happy about MS being put aside but wish you could get an answer..The frustration of being told one thing then another is like a carnival ride..I'm sorry..
