Common Questions and Answers about Mri scan of lower back

mri-scan

Avatar f tn I had a X-ray today and the doctor says my back is fine and suggested me to go for a MRI scan. Due to the cost of MRI scan, i am abit reluctant to go for it unless there is a problem with my back. I read the symptoms for Herniated Disc online. It says i will feel numbness on my back. But i don't feel any numbness at all. Pain there is, numbness nope. So Dr what do you think could be the reason for my back?
Avatar n tn I got an MRI done on my lower back and the results showed that i have low fluid in Disc Number 2.... what causes this to happen? Am I doing something wrong? I am pretty young to have back problems i think.
Avatar m tn The next day I was in total agony with pain radiating down my legs, and pain located in both the lower and middle of my back. I went to hospital and had an MRI scan which showed a degenerated L4-L5 disc and bulging disc at L5-S1 with no neural compromise. The pain continued and I was referred to an orthopaedic surgeon, with my appointment taking several months for me to be seen. In September I was sent for another MRI scan due to continued pain and weakness/numbness in both feet and toes.
Avatar f tn I have had really bad lower back pain since march. It feels like extreme stiffness, and shooting pain in my glutes. I have worked with children with disabilities for years (which requires lifting). My back was beginning to get sore but I quit before it became as serious as my symptoms are now. I have had an Xray done on my lumbar region. My Xrays show minimal growth on the L5 vertebrae. My family doc spent 4 minutes talking to me about this, and was no help at all.
Avatar f tn The further course of management can be decided thereafter. Let your neurosurgeon examine you with your MRI scan report for best assurance. Take care.
Avatar f tn I have suffered with the pain for years and had to give up my fav job when I was 21yrs because of it. I have had 2 lots of physiotheraphy, a scan and all I get told is that they not sure what is causing it but I have the problem for life, apart from I have sensitive nerve endings due to being told I can't do everything I us to do, but now they say I could have done and not stopped.

Avatar m tn Ive injured my back in football working out and stuff and it would heal right up. Does anyone know about stress fractures in lower back? Do they ever heal all the way up or do they always give problems? Did I keep re-injuring to the point where it won't heal? It's just depressing I am to young to be having back problems. any information would be greatly appreciated thank you very much and sorry for the long story.
Avatar n tn After a day of cleaning and my back hurts I massage this into lower back and pain disappears. It is amazing and works so fast. Lots of others uses as well. Check it out. Get better.
Avatar m tn I got an mri scan just before Christmas, which showed the two lower disks in my back were bulging, the doctor told me to walk everyday to fix this problem, but one month on and the pain is ten times worse than it was before, I have been experiencing a continous spasm in my back for 3 days now, and can't so simple things, even walking is a chore. I am at a loss of what to do about this.
Avatar f tn There is a point in getting some type of imaging done. An MRI scan would not only show the bones, but also the state of your discs and other soft tissues. Let me know how you get on. Best of luck.

Avatar m tn I had an MRI done after 2months of pain in my lower back. I am a 43 year old female. The MRI results say l5/ s1 right paracentral disc protrusion exerting mass effect on the traversing right s1nerve root. L3 /l4 small right sub articulate / foraminal annular tear / disc protrusion. L4/ l5 broad based posterior disk buldging with small superimposed central disc protrusion mild to moderate central canal stenosis. Minimal bilateral neural foraminal narrowing.
Avatar n tn I also would occasionally get a shooting pain down my right leg from my lower right side of my back when standing up or walking, but this happened so infrequent back then that I did not seek treatment. In 2005 I began having much worse pain and the shooting pains down my leg became more frequent. I was treated and diagnosed with bulging disc(s). No MRI was done at that time and I went to physical therapy.
Avatar f tn I just got the results of my CAT Scan and it says at the level of L3-4 3mm right infraforaminal disc bulging is noted and there in tsays there is morerate right neuroforaminal narrowing and final it says there is mild bilateral facet hypertrophu at the level of L4-5. Could someone explain this in English for me and also what are my treatment options. i've been treated with meds for chronic back pain for the last 5 years and thought about implanting a neurotransmitter.
Avatar m tn I used to be in gymnastics and I got injured by bending too far forward while doing stretches. Now, 5 years later, my lower back hurts and it hurts to touch the place where the first or second bones are from the bottom. I've tried physical therapy and there I learned exercises that help relieve the pain temporarily. Is this lower back strain or something more serious? Is it a ligament that has been stretched too far? I'm afraid I might have damaged the spinal cord.
Avatar n tn My husband was diagnosed with a 4x3cm cyst on the back of his brain when they were performing a MRI on his upper back. He has had a constant headache for 3 months, vomiting in the middle of the night, tingling in his arms and hands, upper back pain and lower back pain. He has a herniated disk in his L4, L5 and his pain has gotten progressively worse. He thought he had more herniated disks in the top of the back but there aren't any.
Avatar m tn Your numbness can be caused by a irritated nerve in your back or possible pinched nerve. Most of the time I will have a radiating pain from my lower back down my leg. I would suggest seeing a Pysiatrist, and make sure they are good. Then that doc will refer or treat what he finds.
601516 tn?1224884637 my pcp finally got an mri of the spine yesterday but did it without contrast. by the time i got home from the scan the office called and said it was normal. i was in tears. only the day before i was ready to go to the hospital because of the terrible pain in my back. i decided to wait for the scan to show the problem. i just knew it would. what on earth? now, i had a ct scan in january that found an ovarian cyst...that scan was done with contrast. i got the records out last night.
Avatar n tn I have heard that most bone metastasis from breast cancer are osteolytic and might not show up well on a bone scan. Is this true? I have been having pain in my pelvis and my family doctor ordered an MRI of my lower spine which was normal, but told me that an MRI of my pelvis was overkill. The pain has has not gone away and I cannot get in to see my oncologist for another month. I feel like I have "cried wolf" so many times with aches and pains that the doctors brush me off now.
Avatar m tn I had a severe case of sciatica a couple years ago just like what you are describing. Finally got a prescription for an anti spasmotic and an anti inflammatory and went to the chiropractor. He stated it was my sacroiliac joint. He snapped it back, what a relief instantly got the feeling back in my leg. I noticed too that certain shoes will irritate my back. They may look great but still be worn out or just the wrong shoe. Good sneakers are the best.No cheap stuff or really flat shoes.
