mri-scan

Avatar f tn Is it necessary to have more than one MRI scan done. I have only ever had the one scan, 15 yrs ago which was when I was given my official dx, despite having several episodes/relapses since. Initially told I had RRMS now being told I have SPMS with relapses.
Avatar m tn I just had my first abdominal MRI last week. No results back yet. I had just been getting ultrasounds every 6 mon. up until this point. After listening to a talk from the Liver Meeting about alternating with other methods, I suggested it to my doctor. He was fine with it as long as the insurance would cover it.
Avatar n tn The University of Miami will not charge you for the Fibro Scan they are also doing clinicle trials for some of the newest drugs out there for Hep C. I would rec. that you contact them and see I do know they were looking for people to be part of the studies for the protease inhibitators that are used with the standard treatment for Hep C..
Avatar n tn You can ask your vet to prescribe an antibiotic like cephalexin and an antifungal like fluconazole both which can be called into a walmart in your area and they are on the $4 generic list so it keeps cost down. As for itching they can have antihistamines WITHOUT DECONGESTANTS in them.
Avatar m tn m looking for advice on what exactly I should ask for scan wise, to make it actually count for something. Many thanks in advance!
Avatar f tn The only ways to check for the adult worms are with an echocardiogram, or with an MRI of the heart. If money is no object than having an echocardiogram performed may set your mind at ease. An MRI would cost over $1000.00 each. I think it is less of a gamble to treat them for heartworm disease than to leave the heartworms there to damage their hearts.
Avatar m tn You can also see lesions (carcinoma) on MRI. A radiologist can determine a rough density from an MRI which is good for determining fibrousness of the liver. Cirrhotic nodules can also be visualized via MRI. The con of an MRI is that it costs much more than ultrasound and you can't have certain metal (i.e. implanted metal) inside your body.
Avatar n tn An ultrasound and an uptake scan are different tests. :o) Didn't know FNA's were so expensive though...ouch.
Avatar f tn s previous medical records that I like to have titers ran first, before I vaccinate my dogs for other diseases. He told me that I was wise and explained to me that, because of the research and his own personal testing on this, he has started to recommend to patients to check their pet's titer first to make sure that they don't need an unnecessary vaccination. I can only tell you that every time I've done this, my pet's titers were always within normal range.
Avatar m tn did they order a follow up with an MRI ? this usually gives a better picture on what it is. I can tell you that most lesions on the liver are hemangiomas which are benign and nothing to worry about.
Avatar n tn I dont know what state your in, but in Connecticut, neurologists for dogs are very very expensive. But then again, any specialist is. I had to take my dog to see one for his seizures. Would I do it again? Yep ... cause I still have my wonderful boy !
Avatar m tn I've read many many many blogs about how dogs are reacting to Phenobarb treatment for seizures. It is so concerning and I am so confused what to do. For a few months after a lipoma removal surgery, our dog Ranger started to 'trip' while walking. Then a few days ago he had a seizure during the night and again about 9 hours later. We took him to the vet yesterday and were told they could try treating him for epilepsy, but it could also be a brain tumor causing the issue.
Avatar m tn Well since last Saturday my 11 yr old toy poodle suffered seizures, with Sunday being a full blown one. She was hospitalized both days and stabilized. I took her to her vet on Monday and was prescribed phenobarbital and told most likely a brain tumor. Of course if I had the financial means I would do more, maybe an MRI etc. I sure don't like the side effects of pheno for her, but the thought of her going through more seizures is to scary. Any thoughts out there or experiences.
Avatar f tn Other than cost, is there a reason I should have a CT scan instead of an MRI? I would rather not have the radiation exposure of a CT scan if an MRI will produce adequate data. Thank you!
987762 tn?1671273328 As a result, an MRI examination can cost several thousands of dollars, as it includes a charge for using the MRI machine to perform the scan, as well as a professional charge for a radiologist to view the images. In the end, the MRI machine is a miracle, as long as you don't have a pacemaker, metal hip replacement or metal ANYTHING replacement, and you can afford it. References information was gained from all of the following MRI-related sites. http://www.ccmr.cornell.
1580434 tn?1378596528 I have to pay $200 just to see my Neurologist for 15 minutes. The copay for a brain MRI is $1000. I pay $600 a month in premium. My deductible this year is $8,300. In July everything goes up probably to $10,000 deductible. I never reach my deductible. My LP was done in the hospital in 2009 and was $12,000 dollars, I paid $4,000. I am sure yours will be a lot cheaper. My LP was the only way I would have been diagnosed with MS. Every test pointed to MS but they had to have a positive LP.
Avatar m tn It's not a cost issue. My doctor doesn't want to send me to MRI nor CT scan. She says that i don't need to do MRI, because CT didn't showed anyting abnormal, and that i am too young for serious disorders. I find this strange, because it was 8 years ago, and i assume that something could changed. Or maybe i'm wrong?
Avatar f tn is an MRI or an ultrasound as accurate as a CT scan in determining if the spot on my liver is a hemangioma and not cancerous? Other than cost, is there a reason I should have a CT scan instead of an MRI? I would rather not have the radiation exposure of a CT scan if an MRI will produce adequate data. Furthermore, should I see a specialist instead of my PCP about this? Thank you!
567677 tn?1246767776 One more thought about the cost - did they give you a price for the MRI test? See if you can get that negotiated rate like they do with the big insurance companies. I'm with Anthem and it seems to me they only pay about 20-25% of the rate that is billed for my MRI's. It would be great if you could get this worked out too.
564735 tn?1263943526 Thanks for the advice...I will speak with my doctor tomorrow and see what she says.
765439 tn?1292960414 Nevertheless, if you feel strongly about not having a CT scan, you can call your doctor and tell him or her that you want an MRI instead of a CT scan. But be aware that your insurance may decline to cover the cost of the MRI since CTs are the standard for a 21 y/o male patient.
Avatar n tn As the CT scan report was normal and since there was no MRI scan facility in the hospital the patient was not shifted immediately to another one. The doctor of the hospital to which he was later admitted mentioned about the delay. that is why i felt so. Do you think that the CT scan report which mentioned "brain-stem normal" was correct?
Avatar f tn Hello, How did the Vet determine the Vertebra is smaller? Was an MRI or CAT scan done or is this just a guess? This sounds like IVDD (Intervertabral Disk/Disc Disease) & there are MANY precautions you can take to avoid another episode......Please, google IVDD in dogs & read everything you can......Trust me, the precautions DO work! Thank you for coming back with an update........If you need any info., please let me know......Karla P.S.
1139187 tn?1355706647 I have had a sonogram of my thyroid but not an MRI. Should I ask for an MRI. WHAT DO I ASK FOR? (my internal medicine doctor will request it). 2. My internal medicine doctor has a blood sheet where he is testing my TSH, t4 free, and t-3 free. Are there any other tests he should ask for? I just had an MRI of my pituary gland, waiting for the results but im sure it will be negative. Thank you.
