1218873 tn?1300091216 Over here in the UK, we generally don't know what the cost of tests and drugs are, as they are covered by the NHS. But over the past 12 months I have started to learn a bit of what thing cost, and it appears that even if you go private they are considerabley cheaper than in the US which to me dosen't seem quite right.
Avatar n tn Mind you nobody would give you an MRI scan without good reason to do so. Even private hospitals in UK would give you an appointment to discuss your problem. Explain your problems here, and we may be able to give suggestions. You are being very vague.
Avatar m tn I had an MRI of the brain back in May, to investigate various cognitive / neurological problems I've been experiencing since the start of 2009 (mild confusion, memory problems, muscle twitching, etc). This came back normal (I have neither copies of the scans , nor the radiographers report - just a letter from neurologist saying all findings were normal).
Avatar n tn my doctor said i need an mri scan as a result of suffering with many symptoms for many months- he said i will receive a letter. does this mean he will book it for me or refer me? i live in the uk. anyone know anything about this?
Avatar f tn What week do they do your last scan in the UK, do I get another one after 20 weeks?
Avatar f tn If you're in the uk the cost of the blood test is a lot.
Avatar n tn The anatomy scan is usually closer to 20weeks There are blood tests you can do from 10 weeks on that can tell you the gender.
Avatar f tn It could cost thousands..
230948 tn?1235844329 I had my 2nd MRI done at a private MRI company. I had contrast also, but before they could give the contrast we had to wait on the EMT's to arive. They had to be in the room as the contrast was going in incase of allergic reaction. I am thankful that they were there. No reaction but the tech had a hard time finding a vein, but the EMT got it with no problem. Hope this was helpful!
Avatar m tn This sounds like state run socialized medicine to me. Canada? UK? Even in those countries its often possible to go to a private practice consultant. In an urgent situation in US I can get a patient in same day to neurologist, same day CT or MRI, same day ER, same day admission.
7017544 tn?1390083485 Im in the UK had a private gender scan done on Friday baby had her legs closed so she told me to drink some Coke and re scanned me about 15 minutes later baby had moved and found out it was a girl you could clearly see the 3 lines and she also checked in 4d
Avatar m tn i have had done mri scan done it shows one small disc is moved but doctor said to me is not worth to operate he recommend massage of spine and back gp will send me to neurology to check nerve system but im still concern about doctors in uk .
1036535 tn?1278502599 So if one has , say, $600 for a private MRI (yes that is the cost), and knows Medicare will refund $500 of that, why wait? From helen's comment above, it sounds very similar in Canada. So RedFlame, I reckon the majority of stuff you hear would be propaganda. And personally I would MUCH rather pay a tax of 1.5% and know I have health care which wont send me bankrupt than pay 10% (as stated above by.......
Avatar f tn So i sched a private gender scan. They had bundles and i chose the one that was on sale for 65 dollars. I was wondering if its 65 dollars or 65 dollars plus tax?
Avatar f tn It really depends if your a private or public patient. If your public they only book you in for the "important" scans so it doesn't cost to much. However I hVs a private obstetrician and he does a scan for me every 4 weeks and later it will be reduced to 3aeeks, :2weeks and then weekly in the last few weeks.
1960984 tn?1328468228 Hi Im from the UK my mid wife won't check for a heart beat that early i saw her at 16 weeks and she wouldn't even check it then i had early bleeding so paid for a private scan you could always go to your local early pregnancy unit.
Avatar f tn I have recently had an MRI scan and the report has indicated that I have a L5/S1 circumferential disc bulge whih displaces the exiting L5 nerve roots bilaterally.. On the left this effaces the perineural fate and contacts the L5 nerve root. A neurosurgeon has apparently reviewed my scan and said there is no evidence of this disc bulge without even seeing me and suggested tertherd cord syndrome should be investigated..
Avatar f tn Anywherr between 16 and 20 weeks depending on how baby is laying
Avatar n tn Not sure where you live - I am in the US and I haven't had any problems getting copies of tests, MRI scans etc. Whenever I have an MRI, I am given the disc right then to take to my neuro's office. My neuro is sent the written report of the MRI results. When I see my neuro for follow up, I bring the MRI disc. He looks at it then, and reviews it with me. I only get a copy of the radiologists report if I ask for it. Sorry you are feeling stressed out.
3164165 tn?1345333994 Has anyone heard of blue horizon medics online? I've just put in on the search for private thyroid testing as I'm from the uk and my doc is only doing the tsh test which I've heard is lousy, so I came across that website and it will cost me £124.00 for a home kit where I just ***** my finger and put blood in and then send of and get t3 and t4 and other thyroid stuff, I'm just wondering if I should go for this?
