no, hydrocodone is vicodin. Morphine sulfate is the active ingredient in morphine. If you are worried about a possible reaction to the medication, I would speak to your local pharmacists. An opiate is natural and from the opium poppy plant. Examples of these would be heroine, opium, morphine and codeine. An opioid is a synthetic drug made to mimic the effects of an opiate. These would be Percocet, Fentanyl, Methadone, Oxy, Demerol, etc.
Opiates are said to be more addictive.
As far as your question about receptors....yes there are differences. I used to say opiate and opioids not knowing the difference until I googled "Opiate vs Opioid" a couple years ago.

If Pholcodine has codeine in it that could cause the sleepiness and dizzines. Codeinne, like morphine, is a derivative of opium. It would be possible that you had an allergic reaction, but I am thinking it was more just the normal side effects of codeine. It would really depend on what you mean by "felt very sick".
I suggest you call your doctor of pharmacist and tell them ALL your symptoms and see what they think.

Basically I have not motivation to move or do anything at all. The only thing which helps is opiates like opium, morphine and heroin. From time to time I have had to take one or the other just to be able to do things which were needed to be done. I have no craving for opiates and I don't take large quatity of them and I stay away from heroine if there are other trhings available. Opium is my preferred substance. I repeat I only take it because at times I have to get things done.
I don't know abt. the patch, it seems like it would prolong the withdrawl. Possibly delay the inevitable but give some relief. Are you withdrawling voluntarily or till your next prescription ? Usually by day 5 a person starts to feel better and alot of the really bad stuff is over. I really do think the fentanly is a bad idea but I know how being addicted goes, we just want it to go away. I hope the best for you and I wish I knew more abt. your situation to give a good opinion.

The last time I rotated was from Oxycodone to morphine and it made a huge difference in my baseline dose, however, it did not work as well for breakthrough pain. So I asked my doc to up my BT medication by 15 mg.

they said the lethal dose is 100-300 mg of morphine sulfate, what i took in was 600 mg. however, on the bottle is clearly states 30mL and 20 mg per mL. i drank it all.
then they said i must have vomitted it all out before it took effect. this isn't true. it was hrs before i even felt sick, more than enough time for the morphine to get into my blood stream.
either way, i am happy to be alive. i am not , as i already said, a drug user. i took it because i was in pain, it was convienent.
I found this interesting because my grandfather is the only other person I've known who found more pain than relief in morphine. He said any time he needed to have it (which was maybe when he had an appendix out, otherwise I can't even get him to take a daily aspirin) the morphine intesified his pain. I found it barely worked for me in the MSContin form.
There are a lot of options and there are other meds in the methadone family that may be an option for you.
Morphine and codeine are made from the opium poppy. Many people are allergic to these meds and do better with synthetic opiates like hydrocodone, percocet, fentanyl or methadone. You may not have had a true allergic reaction to the morphine, rather, you were simply overdosed. The same thing happened to my sister with demoral. Everyone reacts a bit different to these meds, depending on their own metabolism and the cause of the pain being treated.
ok...i don't know much about opium except i did it when i was a teen..i am not familiar with any side effects from it but it sounds like you are doing a good job tapering. I don't mean to sound stupid but...your talking opium..illegal opium..i have never heard of someone being prescribed opium..opiates..such as methadone..hydrocodone etc...but not opium..do i have that right?
is there any body having any experience or knowledge of opium addiction?plz share ur experience.
