Avatar n tn too much morphine can result in death. I would advise you to call your pharmacist for information - they would be able to give you pharmaceutical information that would clarify this situation. I am sorry for you loss and the experience around it.
Avatar n tn My husband is 64 years old and had cancer in his tonsil and lymph nodes in 2000 and was aggressively treated for a year with radiation and chemo after surgery to remove the tonsil, saliva gland, and strap muscle in his neck. He has routine exams every 3 to 6 months and has always gotten a clean bill of health. In a routine blood test last week, he was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and was given meds to treat it.
Avatar f tn I did not understand the question about the cortisone injections and the spread of cancer? Are you asking if this injections can spread the cancer?
1674921 tn?1304177675 I am only allowed to take 4 Tylenol daily - no aspirin or Advil. I can have morphine should I want it, but no aspirin.
1686743 tn?1306005451 For the last year I have been taking15 mg Morphine2 times a day, and 5mg Oxycodone HCI For pain in back and hips, and knee. At this dosage I have been getting some relief.Could one say that I'm chemically dependent. I'm 6 ft tall and 172 lbs. What is the suggested dosage for 61 yr old? I just had surgery in my chest and the pain level is 10 by times 10. they increased the oxy to 10 mg every 4 hrs and the Morphine 3 times a day 30 mg a day. with little effect.
210982 tn?1280983895 Yes although dosage and frequency of usage does matter. In my experience morphine, high dosage oxycontin and methadone are the most effective (and the most addicting) pain killers.
Avatar n tn ve also had personal experience with I.V. morphine since I had cancer and It did cause nausea at high doses 15mg-25mg I.V. but after some time... the nausea goes away your body developes tolerance to the drug so side effects experience at the beginning disappear. I've never tried oral morphine or a pain pump; only I.V. morphine pain pump. They're also medication to help with the nausea example: Zofran, Ativan, Phenergan, Vistaril, Kytril, etc...
Avatar m tn About 1 month ago my pain management doctor increased my dosage of morphine sulfate from 10 gm to 30 mg (1 every 12 hours). Shortly after I began taking the 30mg morphine sulfate, I started to develop a slight rash. Over the last week, the rash has become much worse and a real problem. I've been taking over the counter benadryl tabs to get some relief from the rash which is helping a little to relief the itching and rash.
Avatar f tn The pain specialist says morphine and other opiates do not work well for MS pain because they do not go to where the pain is. He is not against Morphine I take it for Cancer. There are several drugs for nerve pain Lyrica, Gabenpentin, Trileptal, and few others. For muscle spasms there are muscle relaxers the main ones are Bacolphen, Flexiral, and Zananflex. Many people need a combination. Some drugs work for some people and others for others. My MS Specialist sent me to a pain clinic.
Avatar m tn The 50 patch is more in line with your previous 60 morphine sulfate, plus some break through meds, dosage. The problem most have with the patches is that they do not last three days, only two for most people. See if your insurance company and doctor will allow you to do a 2 day dosage, vs the std 3 day.
557111 tn?1219712047 So once she is off the percs, the doctor is weaning down her dosage of morphine. Perhaps you can cut down your percocets a little after you go on the morphine? If the morphine works for you, that is. Of course waiting until after surgery is probably wise. You won't know how bad you'll feel and what you'll need to take. After my mom's surgery (and the initial surgery pain subsided) she really cut way back on the percs because she was no longer in so much pain.
Avatar n tn re facing this now. My Dad is in the same position (obviously not ovarian cancer but cancer all through his body). The hospice nurse and volunteers are terrific. My Dad's hospice nurse will do whatever it takes to keep him comfortable and drugs are the number one defense. My Dad is groggy and falls asleep all the time from the meds but that's OK. Hospice usually sends a volunteer to your house to sit for 4 hours so you can get out and do errands or just unwind.
Avatar n tn I just spent 8 days in the hospital. I was given 15mg of morphine every hour. They released me with nothing and that is fine. Accept I feel like I am dieing. I am so scared, I dont know what is normal withdraw if I need a Dr. or what....
Avatar n tn The morphine is actually much less problematic than the oxycodone. You should be comfortable taking the morphine and not the oxy.................
Avatar m tn im not sure what mg but i expect him to start me on 15 of morphine. will the morphine help me? should i talk to him about another option such as percocet? im scared that the low beginning dosage will affect my quality and comfort even more.
19579204 tn?1480364655 My husband had the electronic stimulator first. It broke twice in a month so we opted for the Medtronic pain pump. More and more it's having recalls, failures and complications. Pump failure, catheter failure, and pump stall in 14 months. Fewer doctors will take patients that have them. The expense and side effects are mounting. Dry mouth rotted his teeth. Low testosterone so we do injections.
Avatar f tn I went to the drs today and explained that the oxy 15s I was prescribed were not working as well as the 10/325s I was on so my dr. gives me morphine 30 mgs I have taken a few they dont seem very strong either. I was told I was not allowed to switch for a while. I will have to just make them work. will they start working better in a while or am I just stuck on then?
Avatar m tn Hello all, My mom is on in-home hospice care and receiving Morphine Sulphate for pain related to cancer. She has mets in her spine, including her neck. Her requests for morphine, of which she was usually getting 5mg, has tapered off over the past two or three weeks, but she suddenly started complaining of neck pain yesterday. We tried a small pillow that you heat in the microwave and put under her neck, which helped very little.
1695881 tn?1306506766 the baby is going to be gettin morphine. i wonder if i could be hospitalied and do the same treatment?
Avatar f tn My mother who has cronic back and shoulder pain is being taken off of fentanyl 100mcg patch and 7.5/500mg and being put on morphine 60mg 2x daily and then morphine sulfate 15mg every 4 hours for breakthough pain. What I'm wondering is there going to be withdrawl or is the morphine going to have enough of the same stuff in it. If not what kind of withdrawl systems will there be to watch for.
Avatar f tn Might his pain be from the lymph node cancer? Lung cancer has only enlarged slightly. They have him on Vicaden (sp?) and have prescribed Morphine patches.
Avatar f tn My sister's eye specialist has been unable to determine "why" she developed corneal melt. The typical causes have been ruled out, rheumatoid arthritis, etc. My online readings indicate corneal melt is often a symptom of the herpes virus - this may be relevant since my sister had several genital warts removed by a cancer specialist on a few occasions.
Avatar f tn I would really like to know if anyone has taken morphine in pregnancy and upon giving birth if their baby had with drawls or not AND what dosage PLEASE! I have heard a few moms say they were taking Oxycontin 40mg three times a day with no baby withdrawals, but did not know if morphine was the same. I do go to a pain management place, I am in severe pain, I do not need lecturing, there are times I think about just ending it all just to stop the pain.
