Avatar f tn I know each person is different, but what can I expect? My Mother had a Mini Stroke on Thanksgiving and is a Rehab center now, the Dr. just put her on some meds to help with the uncontrolable jerking of her arms legs etc. , she can't walk and her speach has been greatly affected. she has made some small steps but not much improved. Any advice would be greatly welcomed PLEASE!! I have been caring for my Mother for six years ever since she had a botched surgery to remove scar tissue.
Avatar n tn I am not a doctor, so I have no idea what could have happened. Maybe a mini-stroke? I just don't know, sorry. Was he on BP meds BEFORE this happened? What is he taking now? I'll keep him in my prayers...
Avatar f tn Three months ago, I believe my adult daughter had a mini stroke at Spin Class (horrible headache, coordination problems, she saw things melting, had trouble understanding simple questions and trouble with conveying her thoughts). She went to urgent care next to the gym and waited 45 minutes to be seen. She drank Gatorade while she waited. They told her they didn’t know what was wrong. They diagnosed it as syncope. She couldn’t drive.
Avatar m tn I had a mini stroke about 9-10 years ago no complication with my walking but now my left leg limps and get unbalance when walking should I have had another stroke?
765802 tn?1263304451 The headaches that you are getting now may be a warning sign that your blood pressure is raised even now. Remember a Stroke may occur a number of times if proper treatment and prevention measures are not taken. If you have a high blood pressure, you are always at risk. Please take proper treatment to keep the blood pressure under control. Please do not stop Plavix without the advise of your doctor. It helps in preventing further Strokes. Take care!
Avatar n tn She has chronic edema in both lower legs, and is now using comp stockings, and has NOT been active or walking at all for more than that year. Does the impression #1 mean she's had a mini-stroke, or has MS, or that there is something progressive that's responsible for her heavy, weak leg/foot? Is there a treatment for what she has and if so, is this something that's worsen? HISTORY: Patient with slowly progressive leftsided weakness.
Avatar f tn The EKG, CT-Scan and blood work all came back normal and later during the week, so did the ultrasound on my neck arteries and the echo on my heart. My internist said it could be a mini-stroke but the symptoms persist a week later, with complete numbness of the tongue and lips. He told me it might be a side effect of my anti-depressant, Pristiq, and has taken the dose down from 100mg to 50mg. I am to report in next week to let him know what my symptoms are doing.
Avatar f tn I would love to know what this is and what causes it. I've heard this could be TIA's, Absence Seizuzres or Mini Stroke. Has anyone have a similar experience? Thank You! This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.org/posts/show/295029'>short memory loss seizures</a>.
Avatar n tn My 81 year old father had 5 mini strokes during a proceedure on his lungs in Dec 2007. The gel they used leaked through a small (unknown) hole in his heart and caused the strokes. He went through rehab and was able to come home walking, talking and eating. About 4 weeks ago, he had a UTI that went undiagnosed for almost 3 wks and became dehydrated and had to go back to the hospital.
500374 tn?1210075013 I didn't have a brainstem stroke, but I did have a stroke and I have the same cognitive issues that you have. What I do is write a lot of lists - but darn where is that list? Also, I have a PSP and I play a game called Hot Brain to exercise my brain. I'm not good but I'm trying.
1438751 tn?1285093678 About 4 months ago my son and I were cooking dinner and I got some pressure in my eyes and between above my nose... I got a little disoriented and lightheaded and leaned on the counter.... then I couldn't move the whole right side of my body for a few minuets... I don't know how long but I was so freaked out... I started thinking of what my mom said ABC's and that commercial about not being able to brush my own hair so I got as calm as I could and tried as hard as I could to move...
Avatar n tn SO I WENT TO MY FRIENDS HOUSE AND WE WENT TO another hospital, they did ALL THE NORMAL QUESTIONS ,BUT THIS TIME DECIDED TO RUN SOME TESTS ct scans and blood tests ,i was hooked up to a drip ,tube for just in case ,HE SAID ALL THESE NAMES OF SYMPTOMS TO THE NURSE THE DC SAID HE DIDNT EXPECT TO SEE ANYTHING OUT OF THE ORDERNARY FROM THE RESULTS,IT COULD BE A MINI STROKE,BELPASYER OR EVEN EARLY STAGES OF MS OR BLA BLA ,NA HE WAS A REALY NICE GUY , THEY WERE VERY BUSY AND THE AMBOS HAD ALLBEEN DIVER
Avatar n tn I went to the PCP and Neurologist two days later and had an MRI 5 days later and they saw a stroke in the cerebellum and signs of a mini stroke that they classified as 'old'. I fortunately did not have ongoing loss of speech, or weakness in limbs etc...but have suffered from weird dizziness and electric shock feelings in my head. They seem to get better - but then get wrose again....Dr's are saying it is maybe anxiety --but is not. I have had anxiety before and these are different.
Avatar f tn Sorry to be a downer today, I was soing so well first couple of months after the stroke, stroke, but I kno through it all i've been blessed. I cry more than usual, an I know its the devil, and i'm fighting but at times I feel like I don't have any more fight in me.
Avatar m tn I am 72 yrs old. Mayo in Jacksonville, Fl advised me that I had a "mini" stroke, ( According to an MRI). I have serious memory problems and have a speech impediment. My lips tighten up and my tongue seems to get in the way of proper enunciation. I thought it would clear up, but it didn't. I found a speech therapist who diagnosed me with Dysarthria. No treatment yet. I am seeing a Neurologist, Psychiatrist, Endocrinologist, (for Diab.II), other than my PCP. Keep in touch!
Avatar n tn I am a 65 year old woman. I had a mini stroke. I suffered wity double vision for 8 hours. No one can tell me why. I have gone through many tests. I have a small part of the double vision trying to come back, I just feel it. I hope you all the luck in the world, and will pray for you.
Avatar n tn The neurosergion mentioned that during the operation she had 2 mini strokes. Is this common post stroke? Is this something that gets better with time?
Avatar m tn He contacted the hospital and he received a letter from a senior consultant in the hospital to say that I had been given the wrong treatment. He gave me a copy of the letter and told me that I could do what I wanted with it. I did noting with the letter. I was sent to the hospital for liver tests, renal tests and had a scan done of my head. I was told that everything was ok. About 2 years after that time I was unable to continue with my work.
Avatar f tn I also had a stroke 16 months ago located in the brain stem/ left thalamus and have recurrent headaches probably two a week, sometimes very dibilitating. I have yet to find anything to help..but of course my doctor doesnt seem to find interest in what type of headach it is... Did you have any luck? Im a curious Kimberly.
Avatar m tn I have had a speech problem, which I attribute to a mini stroke as diagnosed by the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fl. They also diagnosed me with Fibromyalgia. Since it didn't clear up, I sought a Speech Therapist who diagnosed me with Dysarthria. I have not received any treatment yet. I have had the condition for several months. I used to fall a lot, but I have learned to be very careful. My vision is blurry. I also have Diabetes, type II.
Avatar f tn I am so sorry you suffered such a lack of veracity in treatment. I am not a medical professional but from the research I've done so far it sounds like a stroke. I don't want to instill any unnecessary worries though. I have read that Migraines, or even TIA's (mini strokes which usually resolve any damages or issues on their own), have the same display of symptoms as a stroke.
Avatar n tn hi i had tia or mini stroke july 5. my speech were slurred and vision blurry. i have recovered well except my speech is somewhat off. my doctor said i will be on coumadin for six months. he started me out with a high dose but not i'm down to 2mg. i just try to be careful and know that if anything else happen that its in our heavenly Fathers hand.
Avatar n tn I am 35 years old, and currently on blood thinners for treatment of my dissections but no stroke that happened 1 year ago next week. I have a 10 year old son that I delivered vaginally, and all was normal. I have been going to Duke University hospital to a High Risk specialist and they strongly advise me not to get pregnant again.
Avatar n tn Last January, 2006, I had a mini stroke. I was 36 years old. I recovered quickly and there has been no side effects. I was taking birth control pills and so the dr.'s say that must be the cause. They can find no other reason for it. I now take 1 aspirin daily. I have 1 son who is 3 and we are wondering about another pregnancy. I'm terrified! My neurologist and obgyn say it would be low risk for another mini stroke. I feel I was probably "no risk" this time last year but it happened.
731247 tn?1233791186 Just a quick note to let everyone know that I have been directed by my hepotologist to discontinue treatment. I was in week 33 when I experienced three transient ischemic attacks (TIA) in four days. These TIAs are a sort of mini strokes. Symptoms where slurred speach, droopy and numb left side of face, vision problems. Just like a stroke but fortunately not premanent. According to my study doc can be caused by the interferon. Which is why the took me out of the study.
