I completed my last dose of metronidazole 4 days ago and also took fluconazole after completion. I noticed a yellow tint on both sides of my tongue the Friday I completed the last pill and took the fluconazole. I was instructed to take metronidazole 2times daily for 7 days. During the time taking it i experienced pain in muscles, jaw pain, headaches, dizziness, sweating, pebble like stool...

I just noticed today that my tongue has a white coating that can be scraped off. The white coating is "grainy" and creamy but the surface of my tongue under the coating is not sore. I just finish my 5-day course of Metronidazole 500mg 3x a day. Is this a common side effect, or is this something that I need to worry about?

I continued to be okay then I started to get headache pain (moderate) which goes on for days and I have had many troubles with my stomach (Constipation, Diarrhea for 2 weeks, and horrible cramping). I'm usually very regular and for a few weeks was not so I used Miralax I wonder if these things are causing the yellowing on our tongues?? Does anyone have any answers for us?

ve noticed white bumps on the side of my mouth near the back (one or two) that kind of come and go.. also my tongue has a thick yellow coating when i wake up and is thicker at the back and my taste buds seem swollen. i feel like im producing an above normal amount of saliva as well.. Most likely, in your case, you have bad breathe fairly often. When your tongue turns a yellow/ whitish color it is a sign of dry mouth which can be caused by many medications or it's just common for some people. Overall, I hope this helps! Good luck!

My problem started 6 months ago when I was on an antibiotic (metronidazole) for 1 week. The post nasal drip should not really be causing the white coating on the back of the tongue. I do have thrush a lot of the time and use one of those tongue scrapers every day. If stuff comes off, it's probably thrush.

Hey I am kinda relieved in a way to find someone who is expirencing the sam things I am. Whenever I brush my teeth and tongue, it comes off easily with no pain nor bleeding. I hardly ever consume foods with yellow dyes in them. Besides the yellow coating, my tongue has a normal color to it and appears fine; no pain, no swelling, no cracks, no large bump, no blisters, no bad breath, etc. I've read on various sites that it can be attributed to many things ranging from dehydration to HIV... so I'm at a total loss yet freaked out.
