7052683 tn?1392942395 tHi Guys, I am throwing this question out there for anyone who has had experience (good or bad) with the drug Metronidazole. My Bat Mia had some biopsies done and it showed she had a Heliobacter Infection--which is like a developing ulcer in humans. She was give this drug to be taken twice daily, along with Azithromycin, and 1/4 tab of Prilosec. She seems a little lethargic and is under the bed , so I looked up this drug and the comments were very worrisome.
72351 tn?1281996142 I would like to know what would be the best drug to treat oral infections in possible fiv possitive cats. I have tried Metronidazole without success, mostly because it is virtually impossible to give them tablets due to their mouths being so sore. I tried crushing the tablets and diluting with water to give orally but that is an even worse option lol! I heard it comes in liquid forms but my vet has not been able to locate it to purchase for me.
Avatar m tn My 14 year old bengal cat, Kuanish, threw up a pinkish red liquid along with along with a 50mg metronidazole (Flagyl) pill, after I had just administered it to him :( Should we continue treatment? What is the possible cause of this diarrhea? Is there any other treatment that wouldn't require forcing pills in his mouth? Thanks so much for your help!

Avatar n tn Pet Diet plays a major role in influencing the effectiveness, pet response and ultimate outcome of chemotherapy in dogs and cats diagnosed with cancer. Cancer cells alter your pets body’s ability to metabolize dietary nutrients, including carbohydrates, fats and proteins. The effect of cancer on dog and cat glucose or "blood" sugar metabolism is most dramatic in pets.
Avatar f tn He's had liquid Metronidazole and Tylan Powder both have made no difference. His most recent test came back positive for feline corona virus and c. perfringens enteroxtoxin. The odd thing is that we have another kitten that is his sister and she doesn't have this problem (normal stool with a dollop of softer stool on top which we've been told is normal for kittens on kitten chow). We've tried seeing if it's a sensitive digestion system with trying out different foods.
506791 tn?1439846583 Hi Pip...pilling IS actually easier imo. Not nearly the chance of choking like with liquid. We have choked Jade many times, and it's really scary to hear and see her coughing. Either way is no fun, but pilling with 2 people is much easier than dealing with liquid, I think. Good luck!
5886089 tn?1376166477 vet has never seen anything like this before, and they've seen ALOT of cats and kittens. She's been checked for worms; she had an episode of diarrhea a while back, but other than that she uses her litter box and everything is normal. She had a hard time getting into it still... I have the smallest one I could find but it's still really big to her. I don't think she could be a dwarf... She doesn't have the short legs & long body. Her body is just like a normal, fat, 2-3 week old kitten.
Avatar m tn One vet wanted to give the cat NEMEX (pyrantel pamoate) oral liquid to kill any potential worms, even though none were seen on microscopic examination. I don't think it's a good idea to give an animal something like that "in case" they might have worms. Microscopic exam in the office has not seen worms. Are there lab tests available that would give an absolute answer on whether a cat has any type of worms?

I called him at 5:00pm. I had to describe my cat as Gray/White short haired neutered male before he could identify our pet. He said that even with fluids Strom was not improving, Blood work was not done yet. He said he called me at 9 or 10 am but didn't leave a message on my machine..
Avatar f tn So my 10 month old shih tzu just finished a 10 day round of metronidazole. Also a 10 day of provobiales probiotics. She was dx w/ stress colitis after her last trip to the groomers. She was have multiple episodes of diarrhea. So the metro stopped it cold, wonderful I was thinking... then it got to where she wouldn't poop at all. When she would finally go it was after standing outside w/ her sometimes up to an hour & the movement would be huge since she'd not been in a while.
Avatar f tn If I am able to prevent throwing up or at least postpone it, I will have total liquid bowel movement. My GP has prescribed a medication to help empty my stomach but did not seem to help when the episode set in. I will be visiting a true Dr. House next week and will post what he has to say.
4865450 tn?1361298133 The two common ones here are metronidazole and clindamycin. I would try metronidazole if you can take it. Some times this will clear it if that is what it is.

1916673 tn?1420236870 Vomits maybe 2-3 times a week now. Has some diarrhea that we gave him 2 courses of Metronidazole . Per my readings here I have switched him to filtered water . Bruno has been acting pretty frisky with some days where he just hides from us -I assume that's when he isn't feeling well. . I adore this dog and am heartbroken thinking I may lose him sooner than later :( Any tips/input are greatly appreciated Tony! Thanks so much!
Avatar f tn I had already started using liquid toenail fungus meds on my face and have seen DRASTIC RESULTS. The liquid versus creams is huge because it can reach the fungus. Also added colloital silver and it is healing beautifully. Hope my "find" helps some of you. Good luck, Kelley Search www.cidpusa.org: Part Two: Adult “Acne” This is where the “saga” starts to get interesting. After my adolescent acne should have cleared up 35 years ago, it got slowly worse.
Avatar n tn I did use KY Silky at one point in time. I have a cyst on my labia. I have cats and someone told me that cats can give people a skin disorder I forgot what it is called but it comes from their feces(gross) I guess you get it when changing cat litter. I give them advantage and I thought that maybe touching that stuff could cause something. I am getting these cracks on the top of my hands.
Avatar m tn I have noticed that he hesitant to go up/down our hardwood stairs more but once I turn the light on and talk to him, he is fine. he is eating and doing his regular daily routines normally, jumps up to go after our cats and will still barking and go crazy if someone is walking down the street with their dog or is at the door. It is driving me crazy because I feel like he is in pain but oither than the moaning, he seems fine.
Avatar n tn Hi! Wow, I found so many comments about chronic hives. I thought I was alone. I have suffered with hives, usually starting in the evening and through the night for 7 years now. I would like to share that I have used "Aller-chlor", a liquid antihistamine, on a nightly basis, only 2 teaspoons full and that will usually get me through the night. On a bad night, I will have to take 2 more teaspoons, which is okay every 4 hours.
Avatar n tn There are multiple things that can cause itching inside and outside of the vagina, and often it is difficult to tell the difference between them. If itching is accompanied by a discharge (any liquid or "slime") or an odor, you need to see your doctor because you may have an infection that requires a prescription to treat (such as bacterial vaginosis - "BV", or trichominiasis - "trich", each requiring different medications).
Avatar n tn I get something like this too...but I have LOTS of intestinal problems...and namely...I also had my gallbladder taken out about 10 years ago....I get "attacks" where I have SEVERE pain in the midle of my gut (triggered by pain meds.....wine....greasy food...and ????) I get VERY pale...sweat PROFUSELY, drool and then either vomit....have watery stools, fart or....if I'm REALLY unlucky....suffer from these WAVES of pain, vaso-vagal(?) type symptoms for HOURS until they subside...
Avatar n tn There are preservatives in wine - maybe that's what I'm allergic/sensitive to. I have allergies (mold, ragweed, cats, etc.) and take 1 Allegra/day when needed - still taking that. It could also be the black kohosh I suppose or God only knows what else. BUT - I know that since I stopped drinking the red wine and stopped the vitamins, I'VE BEEN ABLE TO SLEEP THE WHOLE NIGHT THROUGH!!!!! That seems to be a miracle to me. I used to wake myself up from scratching. I am still going to the dr.
