It depends, probably, on what the metronidazole is for. If it is for a condition that can be passed to a partner, refrain from sex.
I'm a 39-year-old female with only one partner (my husband). After my recent period I noticed I had a brown, foul smelling discharge. If the culture is negative it's because you never had it, not bc the medication erradicated it. I know because it happened to me. I always recommend waiting a full week after finishing treatment with metronidazole before being tested for yeast so you can get properly tested and not diagnosed based on the discharge.
it's very easy to test for bv. if you are being accurately tested for bv and are told you don't have it, no reason to think that you do. if they are just visually looking at you and saying no bv, whole different story.

BV stands for bacterial vaginosis. It can only be treated by your physician with antibiotics. I've never heard of cold tubes used and really can't imagine that type of thing works. You need to see your doctor for flagyl, or generic name, metronidazole which is the standard of care for treating bacterial vaginosis.
The reason that the other poster could have been cured by cipro is that she may have had a Mycoplasma and it may have been sensitive to ciprofloxacin. But the standard treatment for bv is either metronidazole or Clindamycin. So you can try the cipro and see if it clears up but if it doesn't then if can take clindamycin I would then take probiotics after. Cipro can treat a lot of UTI's but not all. It depends on the bacteria that is causing the infection and how resistant it is.
Thanks for your answer. I just looked at my lab results. From my last visit, directly reading from it, there were no yeast or trich. Clue cells were more than or equal to 20%, moderate wbc count, positive whiff test, and my pH was 6.0. This is why I'm confused. If the wet mount doesn't indicate trich, why is my wbc count still elevated? I've been given metronidazole for the millionth time this year for both trich and this last time for BV, but it still didn't help.
