Avatar f tn actually you should've had 8 pills to take - for a total of 2 grams of medication. give the clinic a call and ask them to please check the pdr and call you in the right dose if that is all you were given. remember no alcohol at all for a few days either!

Avatar m tn doxiciclina, flagyl (metronidazolum) and eficef (cefixima) as as well as Arcoxia and some vitamin supplements. He told me to avoid sport, exercise, spicy food and caffeine. Anyway, my main question is this. He has told me to take the 2g of flagyl (metronidazolum), 400mg eficef (cefixima) and 100mg doxiciclina at the same time for the first dosage; i then take the doxiciclina 100mg, twice a dayfor 10 days. Is it ok to take a large dose all at once for the first dose?

Avatar n tn I am now going bacitracin + neomycin and I buy a metronidazole ... I certainly do not get into sex and got after using a simulated oral sex that I was not very clean ... I just want to get rid of this infection ...
Avatar m tn I have a really wierd discharge from my penis after successful Chlamydia treatment. During the first round of Chlamydia treatment, azithromycin didn't work according to my retest, so I took Doxycycline and according to the results from the test last Saturday- I am now free and clear of both Chlamydia and Gonarrhea. However, I have this new type of discharge that happens in the morning. The discharge appears similar to semen but it can't be. Urination is painful.
Avatar n tn My doctor prescribed me metronidazole because of my yeast infection but I'm really "iffy" about taking it because I don't want to harm my baby. Have any of u guys taken metronidazole while pregnant ?
Avatar f tn I'm taking antibiotics, including Metronidazole 500mg for h.pylori. I was at my sister's wedding last night and took 2 glasses of bubbly to toast with the guests, and then switched to water all night (being under the impression that antibiotics just worsen the impact of the alcohol so this is why you shouldn't drink). About 6-7 hours later I started feeling really unwell (nausea, frequent washroom trips, flushed skin)..
Avatar m tn The dose for a large lab would be 500 to 750mg twice per day tor 7 days (Do not overdose). If you have not given the correct dose or metronidazole than another course of metronidazole may help. There could be gastrointestinal parasites not covered by the metronidazole, of course, and it would be best to have your dog's stool checked.
Avatar m tn t seem to be showing any symptoms (no soft stool, etc), and our breeder had assured us upon her call that she had been dewormed with Panacur (fenbendazole) and that everything should be fine. Our vet gave us 2 weeks of what I believe was metronidazole. About a week ago Penny started having very soft stool. We took her into the vet yesterday for her rabies vaccination and a lepto booster, etc...all in all she got 4 needles (our vet told us she'd probably be very tired).
Avatar f tn ve been told by my GI doctor that my peripherial neurapathy is partially caused by the over-use of the metronidazole a antibiotic. I also have low levels of vitamin b1. my question is on the antibiotic metronidazole, Can this cause to my peripherial neurapathy be "corrected" after the toxin has finally left my body? or will this be permantent and get "worse" with time? what can I do to stave off the progression if so?
Avatar m tn I have to take metronidazole for 7 days 2 times a day (1 pill in the morning and one at night). can i still have sexs while doing this process?
Avatar f tn depends of course on the cause if the illness. i would always try the natural treatment before medical eating lots of plain rice bananas apples and tea. dehydration must be watched so copious amounts of water. id seek medical treatment if this does not help and check with hep doc on any meds prescribed. did u know that macaroons help loose bowels too!
Avatar m tn Trichomoniasis can usually be cured with prescription drugs, either metronidazole or tinidazole, given by mouth in a single dose. The symptoms of trichomoniasis in infected men may disappear within a few weeks without treatment. However, an infected man, even a man who has never had symptoms or whose symptoms have stopped, can continue to infect or re-infect a female partner until he has been treated. Above is the treatment recommendation by the CDC. I would suggest following up with your Dr.
Avatar n tn After, I was really worried if either of this (sexual intercourse or the oral sex) would affect my treatment of the BV at all or have an impact on the metronidazole working and its effectiveness? Is it advisable to avoid sex during the course of taking the metronidazole? BTW I don't have any symptoms of BV anymore though (although I am still continuing to take the medicine).
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with trich on July 17th...took the four pill treatment of metronidazole...my husband was also treated..by July 29th symptoms were back...was given 5 day dose 2x a day...symptoms came back...went to a different doctor on August 23 got 7 day treatment 2x a day... two days after taking all meds symptoms came back... mind you during all this time, no drinking, no sex! Now after returning for a recheck appt.
Avatar f tn I was given Rozex cream (metronidazole) as i have an itchy penis (head). When i asked what was the diagnosis they said a fungal infection. Why have i been given this cream when metronidazole doesn't cure fungal infections? Is there any indication for using this cream on the penis at all? I thought most infections or protozoa were treated with oral metronidazole?
Avatar n tn I believe typically in the UK treatment is a single, large dose of metronidazole but this appears to be for more "superficial" infections. Thanks.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with C. diff. After my second hospital stay, I was sent home with Metronidazole 500MG tablets to take with food 3X a day. I am on my 8th day of taking this, and still have diarrhea with a loss of appetite. When will the diarrhea clear up? After the Flagyl treatment is completed? Should I be taking a probiotic supplement along with the Flagyl? I have no other symptoms other than the diarrhea/bloating.
Avatar f tn The doctor prescribed me a mega dose of the metronidazole and said I should feel better in 24 hours. I did NOT feel better in 24 hrs I waited a week because everything online kept telling me the symptoms could take a week to subside but when they didn’t I called my doctor and she prescribed me another mega dose. This one did absolutely nothing but make my symptoms worse my cervix hurt so bad.
Avatar m tn What would be a possible course of treatment for the Metronidazole-resistant Trich? I read, that perhaps Tinidazole would be the next choice of drug? If yes, what dosage should be effective? Question 5: I tried to comb through the net to find anything about after how much time the symptoms of Trich should start disappearing when treated with drugs? (Non of the countless sites mention that at all). Thank you very much in advance for your help.
Avatar m tn That said, I agree with the metronidazole you had for antibiotic treatment. There are some refractory cases which require alternative medications, like oral vancomycin, as well as the addition of probiotics as well as cholestyramine. Other options for refractory cases include the antibiotic Rifaximin, as well as intracolonic vancomycin. Surgery is reserved for the most serious cases. These options should be discussed with your GI specialist.
