Been taking antibiotics for Diverticolitis (levofloxacin 500mgs 1x daily metronidazole and 500mg 3x daily). Can antibiotics elevate liver enzymes???
I was tested positive for HIV this February. I have been an occasional user of MDMA via syringe. I tested negative for Hepatitis B and C. During the first week of June, I suddenly came down with a fever which wouldn't go away. Later the doctors found a lesion on my liver, for which I was treated with Metronidazole (Metrogel) injections, and later metrogel tablets. Recent CT scan shows "a cystic lesion on the liver, measuring 4x3.5 cms with a smooth enhancing wall seen in segment IV.
Did your vet do a float with stool that you should have taken in with you?
I have always boiled ground meat (drained the grease) and cooked rice & fed for about 4 days. that has always helped mine,
It almost sounds like a pancreatic flare up which happens when they are not used to the fat in their diet. metronidazole / flagyl SHOULD be short term and it shouldn't hurt.

Are there any suggestions you could give for what step(s) we could take next that we may not know about yet to help his situation? If liver disease, or a non-functioning liver altogether, is the problem we were wondering about a liver transplant and what kind of clinical history there is related to liver transplants in cats.
The 2 cats do fine on the Metronidazole, but the symptoms can recur in 2 months time which has me baffled. I have not tested for wet FIP, but that had crossed my mind. I don't believe it to be a toxin due to the fact that the first time in showed in the first kitten they were living in my barn and the second kitten showed it when living in my house. We did look at a blood smear from the mother cat that died to see if there could be babesia or any foreign signs - clear.

For the past ten days I have been taking Metronidazole (Two 250mg oral tablets, twice daily).
I took my last pills lastnight around 10:30 pm.
My question is, would it be okay for me to consume alcohol on Saturday night?
I know my pharmacist told me to absolutely stay away from alcohol while I was taking the pills because I would vomit alot, and he said most people wait a couple of days after they've finished before they drink. Im just wondering if two days is enough time?
Metronidazole can cause diarrhea as a side effect. But it may be also working on the infective cause of your dog's illness in the first place, so don't stop it without speaking to your vet.
Meanwhile keep your dog hydrated. If you can find an unflavoured electrolyte drink like Pedialyte that would be great. Plain water would do for a short time but Pedialyte would be better.
My heart beat is erratic most of the time anyway but when I tried taking flagyl for campylobacter, it didn't affect my heart at all. I just got extremely sick and intestinal issues worsened. They had to switch me.

This went on for three weeks so on August 18 I was referred to a gastro specialist and performed several procedures. Creatinine was normal, SGPT was high (I have fatty liver), CBC showed all components within normal range. They did colonoscopy and found a mild swelling in the last 6 inches of my colon (doctor wrote "proctitis"), and a slight internal hemorrhoid. Although the doctor said these couldn't have caused the on and off diarrhea.
I have a 2 year old teacup Schnauzer & recently changed her diet to a raw diet. We used Stella & Chewy's raw food. The first week she did great, the second week she began vomiting, sometimes food, other times white foamy stuff. She laid around for about 2 or 3 days, but still had an appetite, loved her new food & drank the normal amount.
