Avatar n tn Are there any suggestions you could give for what step(s) we could take next that we may not know about yet to help his situation? If liver disease, or a non-functioning liver altogether, is the problem we were wondering about a liver transplant and what kind of clinical history there is related to liver transplants in cats.
Avatar n tn Did your vet do a float with stool that you should have taken in with you? I have always boiled ground meat (drained the grease) and cooked rice & fed for about 4 days. that has always helped mine, It almost sounds like a pancreatic flare up which happens when they are not used to the fat in their diet. metronidazole / flagyl SHOULD be short term and it shouldn't hurt.
Avatar m tn I was tested positive for HIV this February. I have been an occasional user of MDMA via syringe. I tested negative for Hepatitis B and C. During the first week of June, I suddenly came down with a fever which wouldn't go away. Later the doctors found a lesion on my liver, for which I was treated with Metronidazole (Metrogel) injections, and later metrogel tablets. Recent CT scan shows "a cystic lesion on the liver, measuring 4x3.5 cms with a smooth enhancing wall seen in segment IV.
Avatar f tn Many tests and procedures later and her vet diagnosed her with inflammatory bowel disease and put her on Metronidazole and prescribed cat foods with duck, rabbit and deer. Well, both of my cats reaction to the new food was to try to bury it. The Metronidazole made Pixel sick and she stopped eating and her weight fell to under six pounds and the vet then put her on steroids. During this time I bought brand after brand of cat food, hoping to get her to eat anything.
Avatar f tn Veterinarians prescribe this drug for periodontal disease, tetanus and pancreatic insufficiency with small intestinal bacterial overgrowth. There can be a variety of side effects, some of them can be neurological. Though these are rarer. It is very possible that Wubbsy may have taken some of this on board, if he ate Nestle's poop for quite a while. He may have been getting regular ,low doses. I think so anyway -though am not 100% sure how much would pass out in the feces.
Avatar f tn Been taking antibiotics for Diverticolitis (levofloxacin 500mgs 1x daily metronidazole and 500mg 3x daily). Can antibiotics elevate liver enzymes???
Avatar n tn After 2 months, took metronidazole and diarrhea went away but still had bad nausea and started to develop other symptoms-chest pain (left and right sided) and severe back pain. They did all kinds of tests and finally a HIDA scan showed that my gallbladder had 0% ejection fraction (basically was not working). They scheduled me for surgery and when it was taken out, found no signs of disease or stones, just a bit of sludge built up from it not working.
Avatar f tn Your digestive issues could be caused by thyroid disease, and can be treated. Any muscle or joint pain, depression and anxiety issues are also symptoms of thyroid disease. Post the results if you have them, if you have not been tested, request your MD do the following tests, TPO and Tgab for Hypothyroid (Hashimoto's Disease) thyroid autoimmune antibody, and for Thyroid Hormone Levels Free T3 and Free T4, and a new TSH, Then post the results with ranges.

Avatar f tn I am really trying to see if my sister's condition has anything to do with her being given this shot. Last time she was given it was April 2013, she is currently in the hospital fighting for her life!! So with all the warnings about if you have a liver disease you shouldn't be taking this shot and the doctors are advising her liver isn't functioning and for it to be as far gone as it is, if she had come to hospital a year ago they wouldn't have been able to do anything!!
Avatar m tn He pants and drinks lots of water. He was diagnosed with high liver enzymes. He does also have some mouth/teeth problems but can’t go under the anesthesia to get a dental! He has been eating home cooking, ground Turkey meatloaf with a couple eggs and some oats mixed in! Also Crock pot chicken boneless breast with no seasoning other than a bit of chicken broth to cook it in. With each meal (2 times a day morning and evening) I also include some type veggies….
Avatar m tn The doctor prescribed Flagyl (metronidazole) after taking blood, urine and stool sample. He said blood and urine test looked normal., the stool test results hasn' t been released yet. I have started to loose weight and started to feel mild pain in my lower back and legs. Is my doctor on the right track ? Is it a parasite my problem or could this be caused by something else like krohn disease or pancreatic problem ? I really appreciate your comments. Thankyou for your help.
Avatar f tn Autoimmune disorders Sometimes a body’s immune system may begin to attack the liver or bile ducts causing inflammation and scarring which leads to a progressive form of liver disease. Examples of liver diseases believed to be caused by the immune system are primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC), primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) and autoimmune hepatitis.
Avatar n tn If your report says that your bilirubin is high, then you probably have jaundice (jaundice is the accumulation of bilirubin under the skin) and some type of liver disease that needs further testing and diagnosis. My two cents. Take care and God bless.
Avatar f tn I was going thru a bottle of vodka every 2 to 3 days. I started having discomfort in the liver area with nausea fatigue and dry mouth. Had an lft done all normal. Still felt sick and went to the hospital lft normal except elevated bilirubin ultrasound normal. Had another lft couple of weeks after bilrubin down to 1.3. And another normal ultrasound. I still deal with right quadrant pain fatigue and nausea.
1714226 tn?1308625105 Hi, my name is Patty and I am 29 years old. To say that liver disease runs in my family would be a huge understatement, for my grandmother, aunt, and my father have all died of cirrhosis of the liver. Neither of the 3 were alcoholics either. Since the age of 18, I have had routine checkups and blood work, keeping a close eye on my liver function and health. In January of 2010, I was diagnosed with gallbladder disease and had surgery to remove it.

Avatar f tn My daughter has been diagnosed with liver disease. She had hep c but that is now under control. She has developed varies in the aesophagus and these are banded every three months. She now has frequent nose bleeds and would like to know the significance of this. She had a drug problem and she also continues to drink alcohol in large amounts. What is the likely outcome of this as she does not listen to what I have to say regarding not drinking.
Avatar n tn God made the liver to be self replicating and self healing. You can lose half of it to disease and it will heal itself if you treat it right. Please "Google" liver and you will see how wonderful it is.
Avatar f tn He should be restricting sodium, taking medications to prevent ascites, varices, and hepatic encephalopathy, monitoring for liver cancer, restricting red meat, eating a liver friendly diet, and not drinking or taking medications that harm the liver. Obviously it is his choice whether or not to drink and whether or not to take care of his liver.
Avatar m tn Also only patients with cirrhosis of the liver are prone to liver cancer. Liver cancer is a very serious and many times deadly disease. It is one the worse cancers you can have if not caught early. An MRI with contrast is the best test for determining if a growth in the liver is benign or cancer. You should have a MRI perform assuming whoever is doing the testing is experienced in diagnosing liver cancer. Most radiologists are not experts in liver tumors so they can miss cancer.
Avatar n tn if you are 57yo you better consider treatment seriously and do all tests, cirrhosis and liver cancer jump to very high percentage after 50yo
