I was given metronidazole to treat Bacterial Vaginosis for twice a day for 5 days, it worked within the 2-3 day the odor cleared up, no itching nothing, however after i finished what i was prescribed to take, i started to have dryness and was itching again , i have phoned the GUM and im not happy with the responce I had as they gave no help or information , but told me to wait until my other results come back for sti's, I dont understand because the treatment has worked but now that ive fini
here is my intimate story,
for a few months now i have had an unusual discharge which has a distinct smell, which for some time i thought was thrush. the discharge was 'cottage cheese' like which is supposed to be thrush. so i used all the canesten products, none of which worked, and the discharge then became smoother and smelt more.
i went to my doctor who gave me metronidazole antibiotics but the symptoms did not go away. also i noticed a slight abdominal pain was getting worse.
can post nasal drip cause a white coating on the back of the tongue? i brush and floss pretty regularly, but for a few months i've noticed a whitish coating on the back of my tongue. it doesn't look like thrush at all. sorry for the grossness, but mucus also collects at the back of my tongue. i have a long history of allergies and sinus issues but i've never really had a coating this prominent before. does anyone know what it is or how to clear it up?
For the bv, doctor prescribed metronidazole gel and for the yeast infection, he prescribed terconazole cream
am not itchy or swollen or anything and iv had thrush in the past so i know its not that. iv had a lapoarscopy sterilisation done last wednesday. this only started today. also when i put my hand down there its wet like clear water. any ideas. i feel dirty????????????????????????
A month ago around April 10 I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend and 5 days later I started to feel sick he says he’s fine but I became very nauseous, dehydrated, depressed, lightheaded, diarrhea, extremely fatigue, had fever, couldn’t sleep, was weak, loss of appetite I was very thirsty though, stomach gurgles, gas I’ve also had oral thrush and neck pains.
Also my doctor gave me a course of pessaries and the metronidazole cream for a period of 6 days and it seemed to do the trick.
) I was told i had bacterial vaginosis. They gave me an antibiotic Metronidazole*? which i took for a week without any sexual anything. I was doing better, then i started my period, then it came back. So here i am, i dont have money to figure out what is the matter, im hoping that this can help in some way by getting feedback. I dont want this to interfere with my life and my relationship anymore.

I doubt your stomach issues had anything to do with protected sex 6 weeks later though. You can't get HIV with protected sex so your fears are falsely making that seem real. Since you went on antibiotics what does the prescribing doctor think?
About 3 weeks later my wife got a thrush infection and a week after that I got some read spots on head of penis and under foreskin. These disappeared in a few days but then I noticed a purulent discharge and so went to GU clinic. Diagnosed as NSU and over next three months it kept recurring despite abstaining from sex and being treated with Azithromycin 1 dose, Doxycycline 1 week, Erythromycin + Metronidazole 1 week, and lastly Azithromycin again for 5 days.
Welcome to the Forum. I'll try to help. The majority of people who have thrush, even thrush refractory to treatment, do not have HIV. Some have predisposing issues such as antibiotic use, diabetes, other medications which immunosuppress them or ingestion of lots of sugary substances, many others simply have the recurrent thrush for reason that are hard to understand.
My problem started 6 months ago when I was on an antibiotic (metronidazole) for 1 week.
The antibiotic did its job but caused this condition called "hairy tongue" as a side effect that seems permanent. My tongue looks like it has a white coating of thousands of little elongate papillae. Almost like my once healthy pink tonge now has a 1970's shag-carpet growing on it. These little papillae act like a sponge to trap all sorts of bacteria and food particles.
I am taking Metronidazole for BV and Penicillan for strep throat but my partner and I have been trying to have sex and I have no sex drive is that affecting it?
You may have now gotten a yeast infection from the antibiotics. If you were prescribed metrogel or metronidazole (flagyl), I wouldn't doubt it. I get thrush and/or a genital yeast infection every time I take it.
no no antibiotics i went to my gynecologist an she told me to take metronidazole/flagyl for infection an afterward the sympthoms disappeared then came back i dont have pain or an frequent urination just a sour smell an bitter taste but before i took that antibiotics it was also sour tasting now it just very bitter with a sour or bitter smell an it gets stronger after sexual intercourse
we really can't help you much with this to be honest. most providers just treat for the usual std's instead of waiting for test results to come back and this certainly appears to be the case here though just listing medications without time lines and test results makes it hard in general.
do acute symptoms come on this late 15-16 weeks or can they come and go over this period. To throw in the mix i had 1-2 days of thrush ( Penis ) 2-3 days after completing 5 day treatment with Metronizadale for a tooth infection in April. I realise some of this could be made worse by stress. Thank you.
I visited the doctor Monday with a vaginal infection and was given Metronidazole to start taking. I went back for results Wednesday and I was confirmed to have BV. My doctor then gave me Erythromycin to take (2, twice a day)... as well as the Metronidazole (3, three times a day). This seems like an awful lot of antibiotics. Why was I given Erythromycin, when from as far as I can tell, Metronidazole alone is the recommended treatment for BV?

The nurse examined me and told me I was clear but that she would send my swab for a culture test and during the mean time gave me a cream used to treat thrush. I used the cream religiously but there were no improvements, my culture test results came back as negative. Now, a week and a half later, my symptoms are coming back and I now have a lot of yellow discharge.
