Avatar f tn So I was wonderin is this disease definitly curable and has anybody ever had metronidazole and its failed 2 work and had to take something els e.g tinidazole??
Avatar f tn A few months back (March) I had intercourse with a "friend" and during the latter part of the month, I was experiencing some pain in my Vagina. It was itchy, sore and most horrible of all.. I had this awful green/yellow discharge. I had to change my underwear lots of times. When I found out that I had trich, I bought Metronidazole and took 2grams (1 dosage) of it. Metronidazole made me feel really sick! Anyway, after a week I realized that I still had trich.
Avatar f tn Metronidazole and clindamycin are shown to be effective against anaerobic microorganisms, though tinidazole was the most recently approved antimicrobial agent for BV treatment, and is considered an alternative antimicrobial agent, particularly whenever metronidazole and clindamycin are unavailable or not tolerated. Being a second generation nitroimidazole with a longer half-life than metronidazole, it requires lower dosages, to be taken less frequently than metronidazole.
Avatar m tn The urine tests for STDs are just as good as the far less pleasant urethral swabs - believe them, they are good tests. In addition, if you have persistent symptoms after being treated sequentially with metronidazole, then tinidazole, you do not have trich. Could you be paying far more attention to yourself than the past. That is one possibility, the other is that something else is going on. You need not worry about STDs at this time.
Avatar m tn A couple weeks later, my urethritis and drip gets even worse and I start to have full on discharges.I get tested yet again, and I bring girl #1 with me. She's had absolutely no symptoms. She was even examined and the doctor said she looked fine.We both get Doxycycline and I feel better.Tests were negative.I then continued to have unprotected sex with girl #1 and everything is normal.A couple months later I start having sex with girl #2 again.
Avatar f tn Although rare, a small proportion of trich are resistant to metronidazole and tinidazole and it would be good to close this loop, making sure that the treatment you both took worked. 3. It sounds like you have been checked for signs of inflammation in your urine or a smear from your penis, is this correct? This would be a check for white blood cells (WBCs). If not done, it should be. If this is negative, there is little chance that there is persistent inflammation. 4.
Avatar f tn Since you might have a slightly resistant strain, it would be reasonable for him to also receive several days of metronidazole or tinidazole, instead of a single dose. But these treatments should take care of it. As to when you originally were infected with trich, it is really impossible to know. It could even have been well before November 2009. Discuss this with your NP and let me know if you have any further questions. But don't let this bother you much.
Avatar m tn t know it was anything to worry about. The good news is that treatment is easy and effective with Metronidazole or Tinidazole.
Avatar f tn And BV usually improves, at least transiently, with metronidazole or tinidazole. And yeast infections always are a consideration for unexplained vaginal discharge, although your symptoms are not typical for yeast. Most physicians would have evaluated you for yeast BV, but you might check back with them to be certain.
Avatar f tn s Disease) thyroid autoimmune antibody, and for Thyroid Hormone Levels Free T3 and Free T4, and a new TSH, Then post the results with ranges.
Avatar n tn i was once diagonised and was positive for cyst of entamoeba histolytica. i took metronidazole, then tinidazole and it seems to stop for 2 to 3 days and then pick up again. after some research i have come to beleive i am suffering from acute amoebiasis(http://suite101.com/article/amoebiasis-signs-and-symptoms-of-the-disease-a230495). thats is the only safe explanation i could get from my condition.
Avatar m tn She recieved medical treatment Ketonazole 100mg. I went to my doctor and was tested and at the same time was given metronadazole. About a week later I heard from my doctor who said I showed no signs of having Trichomonas. The doctor said that sometimes this is normal in males because it is hard to detect. My question is can ketoconazole be used to treat Trichomonas. In other words can it be used in the same way as metronadzole to treat protozoa.
Avatar m tn Trichomoniasis can usually be cured with prescription drugs, either metronidazole or tinidazole, given by mouth in a single dose. The symptoms of trichomoniasis in infected men may disappear within a few weeks without treatment. However, an infected man, even a man who has never had symptoms or whose symptoms have stopped, can continue to infect or re-infect a female partner until he has been treated. Above is the treatment recommendation by the CDC. I would suggest following up with your Dr.
Avatar f tn Mucus can be due to internal hemorrhoid or it can also be due to amoebiasis (if you feel an urge to pass stool) which is an infection. It is effectively treated with metronidazole and tinidazole. You should get your stool examined for this infection. At times a hemorrhoid is associated with fissure and this too can be a cause. Inflammatory bowel conditions such as IBS, Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis too can cause mucus in stool. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined.
Avatar m tn What would be a possible course of treatment for the Metronidazole-resistant Trich? I read, that perhaps Tinidazole would be the next choice of drug? If yes, what dosage should be effective? Question 5: I tried to comb through the net to find anything about after how much time the symptoms of Trich should start disappearing when treated with drugs? (Non of the countless sites mention that at all). Thank you very much in advance for your help.
Avatar f tn And by the way, although single dose treatment with metronidazole (Flagyl) or tinidazole (Tindamax) is the norm, single dose treatment is only about 90% reliable; treatment for 5 days is more reliable. And in men, tinidazole appears to be more effective than metronidazole. You and your partner should discuss these aspects with your doctor. I hope this has helped.
Avatar m tn You have not told us what you have been treated with. Were you treated for Trich with Metronidazole or Tinidazole? If you weren't, you should go back and request this treatment as Trich is one cause of persistent NGU. It should not take months for your discharge to go away, it's a sign that something isn't right.
Avatar n tn I have seen that it is harder to detect in men. I have also seen that one does of either Metronidazole (Flagyl®) and/or tinidazole (Tindamax®) is sufficient enough. Do you or anyone else know if this is true? Of course I will ask when I call, but I was just curious.
Avatar n tn She gave me metronidazole signal dose. I confronted my babys dad and he denied ever cheating on me, so I told him the proof I had then he admitted to cheating on me. Needless to say we no longer have sex except for ones but ill get to that. Anyway told him he needed to get treated for it as well. And he did. In the mean time I was still having systems so call dr again and she gave me metronidazole the 7 day dose. Still no help. I tried calling dr again and she called in fluconazole 150mg.
Avatar m tn There is no evidence that trich causes prostatitis, but some doctors include one of the anti-trichomonas treatments (metronidazole or tinidazole) if other antibiotics don't work. Usually it has no effect, but there's probably no harm in trying.
Avatar f tn So I am baffled by this. About 3 weeks ago I started to feel like my stomach was coming apart. I immediately went to the ER where they tested me for every known thing. They said I had a UTI and possibly a Kidney infection and prescribed Macrobid. That didn't work and in 2 days I went back, they changed the medication to Levoquin (spelling may be off). That worked!
Avatar f tn I have taken three rounds of the single dose. Twice of Metronidazole and once for Tindamax. Then a couple weeks later Metronidazole twice a day for seven days. I saw no change in my symptoms. When I realized that I wasn't getting better I went back to my obgyn, thats when they told me again that its "inactive". I told her I didn't know what that meant and she said that it means its not moving and said its like little spores of trich.
Avatar m tn Burning in urethra, clear discharge from penis, lower back and abdomen pain intermittently, my scrotum feels really warm and sweaty, my rectum every now and again will feel wet and a sweaty even when I'm standing around not doing anything, sometimes my scrotum feels like its being lightly pinched. These symptoms aren't always present at the same time. Nor do I always have these symptoms.
Avatar m tn symptoms are irritation at the tip of and tingling inside the penis. Could I get presumptively treated w/ metronidazole or tinidazole and would it be reasonable to ask for this? If so, the 1 week regimen instead of single dose, because of the long prostate involvement? If this is limited to a milder form of react. arthritis, I guess I wait. If (a) poss. co-infection w/ a parasite or (b) bacteria “hiding” in the prostate, I would rather avoid the discomfort and get diff./new meds. Pls.
