It has now been 13 days on the Doxycycline (of a 30 day cycle total ) and 4 days applying the Metronidazole 0.75% gel only at night, once a day. Thankfully, there has been much improvement since then. So far, no more flareups, hardly any itching only when my skin gets too dry, and during the day when I don't use the Metrogel, my skin is not as red anymore (more pink or normal in color) or bumpy. I just have one more question though.
If you think that you have developed this scratchy type of rash after using the gel it is recommended to stop the gel. I will advise you to see a dermatologist and get your rash seen. Only a clinical examination can confirm the cause of your rash and treatment will depend on the cause. Do keep me posted.

My doctor perscribed me Metrogel 0.75. I have been using it since Jan 18th 2010 (last month). For the most part I have been clear, however I still see some LIGHT red areas like they are fading away. Have I not used it long enough? BUT, I cleaned the house yesterday, and now today I have a larger red area in the corner of my eye..probably from sweating? My doctor reccommended I take Doxycycline 100mg, accept I took two pills and had total stomach pain -with or without food!

My OB/GYN did a swab in May that confirmed the BV. I have recently begun Metronidazole Gel 0.75%, qd x 5. I have been reading a lot of forums, and from what it looks like, none of these treatments are very effective. I am starting to really worry that this is going to plague me for the rest of my life. I have asked these questions, but no one can seem to give me a straight answer. I have never had an STD before, although I had a shaky past, and have had a lot of sexual partners in my life.
The NP precribed metrogel for 5 days at bedtime. I havent found the courage to take it yet, because its inserted vaginally. The warning states its a category B and can be passed through the placenta. Has anyone else taken metrogel during their pregnancy? If so wad everything ok?

I took the a 3 day monistat suppository & when that finished I took the metro gel for BV medicine. Should I have waited to take the BV medicine since now I getting a
white clumpy discharge? If left there too long it seems to irritate to me. Do I need to retreat the yeast or will it clear once I finish the metrogel??
How soon after using metronidazole vaginal gel (0.75%) for bacterial vaginosis can you consume alcoholic beverages? On the box it says do not drink alcoholic beverages when taking this medicine. I only used it twice, and experienced bad side effects so I do not plan on using it anymore. Today (April 22), was the last time I used it. Will I be able to drink alcohol on Saturday, April 25? Hi everyone...Recently I have been having several problems with the skin on my face. Up until about a year ago I had absolutely flawless skin. I'm 22 years old and live in Florida and used to go tanning alot but stopped about a year and a half ago. It started when I went on the birth control-nuva ring for ovarian cysts about 5 months ago and recently changed to yaz and have seen no difference.
I got meds to be treated for uti (100 mg Nitrofurantoin) and an bacterial infection (given MetroGel-Vaginal 0.75%, just in case) and told the results are to return in two weeks. I've only been taking the Nitroftranoin, thus far and figured at the end of this week, I take the Metro-Gel since I have two weeks to wait anyways. After the first dose, which I took the evening of the appoint (about 7 days after the sexual contact), I got like two big bumps on the labia majora.

it's not unusual at all for bv to come back over and over again. continue to be seen every time you have discharge for proper testing. if the oral treatment for bv isn't working for you, ask your provider for the vaginal metrogel instead. it's been shown to alter the vagina's ph and keep bv away longer than the pills do.
do you have a regular partner? do you use condoms?
Can I use metrodizole gel for bv and use monistat creme for yeast infection at the same time.? One during day and 1 at night? Or both at night? I know I have both I just don't know if I can insert both into vagina at same time or once in morning and other at night?
Hello I am 25 years old and I recent had my first pap smear and was told I had BV, bacteria vaginosis. I was put on Metronidozole Vaginal gel, 0.75% for 5 days. My pap smear test results all came back negative, no STD no abnormal pap smear. But It's been a week since I finished the use of the metronidozole gel and I have notice an increase amount of discharge that is not normal for me.
I was diagnosed with a bladder infection and a vaginal infection. I assume its bacterial vaginosis because my doctor prescribed Bactrim and Metrogel. But because I have Raynaud's Syndrome, I can't use Metrogel. So my doctor has now prescribed Cipro. But how would either one help with the vaginosis? And as for the bladder infection, couldn't I just take one because they both treat UTIs?
Can someone recommend anything?
I had bv at about 20 weeks and doctor prescribed Mr metronidazole gel to be inserted vaginally for a week. I didn't put the applicator all the way in. Only halfway like he said. I've had that and about 3 yeast infections and I'm about 26 weeks and baby is just fine and hoping he stays that way. But I'm always sure to catch it early. As soon as of starts feeling the slightest bit funny down there, off to the doctor I go!
just miscarried baby #6 on 2/17/11 had my first cerclage put in place at 13 weeks, was on 17p shots for 1 week as well as promitrium vaginal gel caps., Metrogel to prevent infections, as well as a ton of natural vitamins that my genetic dr suggested I take, I was also on 3 colace a day! This time I felt I did everything possible. Yet my waterbag ruptured at 18wks :( baby #5 miscarried at 16 wks due to waterbag again, baby # 4 miscarried at 22 wks again waterbag!
