Now that I have stopped it completely, small bumps have appeared where I was putting the topical solution. The doctor now prescribed Doxycyline for 1 month and Metrogel 1%. There has been improvement, but very slowly with 2 flare ups so far. It has been two weeks since I stopped the steroid completely. Will it ever go away? Will my skin return to the way it was before the steroid use? (I never had rosacea before) Thank you in advance.

My doctor perscribed me Metrogel 0.75. I have been using it since Jan 18th 2010 (last month). For the most part I have been clear, however I still see some LIGHT red areas like they are fading away. Have I not used it long enough? BUT, I cleaned the house yesterday, and now today I have a larger red area in the corner of my eye..probably from sweating? My doctor reccommended I take Doxycycline 100mg, accept I took two pills and had total stomach pain -with or without food! My question is.

Meanwhile, stay away from rosacea triggers such as too much sun. Also do not use any topical steroids -- even OTC Hydrocortisone -- on your face unless under the direct supervision of a dermatologist. I'm two years post treatment and have come to the realization that I'll probably have rosacea for life because of the treatment however there are ways to keep it somewhat under control. As a side note, don't expect the dermatologist to relate the rosacea to the interferon.

I have seen the dermatologist's PA, and he said I have peri-oral dermatitis. The cause isn't yet known as to whether or not it was caused by steroid use or allergy. I am using Metrogel and he wanted me to use Oracea pills as well but I may be allergy to Tetracycline so I'm just using the Metrogel 1% topical. It is too soon to know if it is working but it seems to be. Does Rosacea cause itching usually? Is the peri-oral dermatitis a broad term that can include rosacea?

Have seen two dermatologists so far but the condition did not improve. He was given topical metrogel 1% which did not work and the 2nd dermatologist put him on antibiotics for 3 months! nothing worked and wondering what other options he has.

I am allergic to all of the antibiotic topicals (bacitracin, metrogel, neosporin, clindaymin topical (cleocin T), mupirocin) as well as two steroid topicals and possibly tetracycline as well.

In the beginning of May I experinced some usual vaginal discharge and itchiness and I went to the doctor and I was told I had Bacterial Vaginosis and was given Metrogel 0.

I've been using metrogel for a few months now for a place on my cheek. It's finally clearing up, but my entire face was scratched up today, including the area I typically treat with metrogel. Is the metrogel safe to use on fresh scratches and sores to continue treatment. If so, would it be good to also put the metrogel on my entire face to help with all the scratch marks?

BTW....... I use Metrogel daily for Roseacea.

I have been to the dermatologist and the recommended Metrogel and then Finacea have only made my condition worsen. I am allergic to tetracyclines and sulfa drugs so I did the 30 day/2 times of erythromyocin but didn't help. I have a sample of Diprolene that had been given for poison and it clears up the rash but was not approved by the dermatologist, probably because it is just a temporary fix and can make the PODS (what I think I have) worse.

I have been using metrogel for 8 days but at first it was great and now my pimples are starting to come out again is that part of the process???

My OB/GYN did a swab in May that confirmed the BV. I have recently begun Metronidazole Gel 0.75%, qd x 5. I have been reading a lot of forums, and from what it looks like, none of these treatments are very effective. I am starting to really worry that this is going to plague me for the rest of my life. I actually had one and was treated with a topical when I did not realize I was pregnant (like the first week of my pregnancy) and I am now 9 weeks and all is fine.

The NP precribed metrogel for 5 days at bedtime. I havent found the courage to take it yet, because its inserted vaginally. The warning states its a category B and can be passed through the placenta. Has anyone else taken metrogel during their pregnancy? If so wad everything ok?

Please I am desperate!!!! I have had this for 2 years already. I get these small red pimples around my nose and in my chin that burns don't know what to do. The doctors think is rosecea but I have been using metrogel and it doesn't seem to work if I put cortisone I get more of those small little pimples. I hate to have the pimples but i hate even more that are red and that they burn.

I have just been diagnosed, and my POD is at a medium level intensity because I abruptly quit my topical steroid cream (which im positive is the cause of all this). I have been prescribed 21 days of doxycycline at 100mg and metronidazole 0.75%. I'm wondering if this will be enough to clear my POD? I know it usually takes quite a while to clear and this seems like not enough? My doctor told me to take my oral anti-biotics for a couple of weeks first than start the topical anti-biotics.

my dermatologist recommended to use - metronidazole topical 0.75% & Desonide 0.05%.. going try both for week... hope this will not mess up instead of curing ...

t know what Type it is but it is red pimples on my cheeks, occasional white heads but these are rare,and nose and Telangiectasia on my chin. I have been treated with Topical Finacea 15%. It has helped for a long time. But lately I am getting a lot more small pimples and peeling skin.
