Metoprolol leg pain

Common Questions and Answers about Metoprolol leg pain

Avatar m tn I went back to work July 1st and even though I'm doing the same amount of walking everyday at work, I'm still worn out from walking with leg pain until I get seated and rested and then when I start walking again it happens all over. The only thing that comes to mind is the metoprolol to help my heart not work as hard, but I'm supposed to get exercise and it's really difficult to do under these conditions.
Avatar m tn In those 2 years, I start having more and more heart related symptoms. Chest pain, jaw pain, left arm pain, exercise intolerance, dizziness, vertigo, intestine problems, low energy physically and mentally... I have severe anxiety (panic with agoraphobia, somatisation, GAD, social anxiety). My anxiety is not well control, I'm med sensitive and can't take antidepressants like Paxil, Lexapro or even older ones like imipramine...
Avatar n tn I was put on 25 mg Metoprolol (12.5mg 2x per day) on April 4, 2012 for a multicfocal atrial tachycardia event (lasted a day). Echocardiogram showed that my heart is in great shape. All was finew/ the Metoprolol (no side effects) until late July when I started losing LOTS of hair (300-400 hairs per shampooing; "normal" shedding of 75-125 when not shampooing) and now my previously thick, shiny hair is thinning rapidly and dull.
Avatar m tn I continue to take the supplement because I don't ever want to experience that leg pain ever again. I also take Wilson's Norweign Cod Liver Oil which is one of the purest forms of Vitamin D and if I don't take it for a few days then I notice that I get achy. I would mention it to your primary Physician. Request a blood test for your vitamin and mineral levels. It's nearly impossible for everyone to obtain the vitamins and minerals that our body needs through food only.
Avatar m tn After a lot of dizziness and other pain, and discussions with my doctor, I slowly decreased my dose and have been Metoprolol free for two days. My cough, wheeze, pain etc has almost gone. I have immediately more energy and also no dizziness. My legs and ankles still hurt and I have tight calves. I hope my body returns to what it used to be. My palpitations and tachycardia settled a while back after being aggressively treated for iron deficiency anaemia.
471161 tn?1317194550 Maybe she thought I was trying to get pain meds out of her. That just didn't make sense. I am not in pain. I just feel like someone has their thumb on my throat about where my adams apple would be if I had one. My PCP told me it could be the Metoprolol and I have been off of it for 4 days now. My heart rate is fine and I was down to a very low dose anyway. I am wondering if it will take longer to get it out of my system or if it may be the Digoxin ro something completely different.
Avatar m tn For the past couple of months, I have been experiencing pain primarily in my left leg, especially the thigh. The pain is not constant and occurs in several places on my thigh. It occurs most often on the top of my thigh just above and knee and at the middle of my inner thigh. The pain varies between aching, stabbing, and burning. I am also currently experiencing pain on the back and side of my calf at about the middle portion of my lower leg.
Avatar f tn There is evidence Toprol CAN cause leg cramps. Also, low potassium is murder on your legs, they hurt, they cramp, etc. so I think I'd check that first. Hope this helps and thanks for the question. Take care.
Avatar f tn I believe that it is the beta blocker that causes the pain and am now wondering if all beta blockers would cause it. Has anyone else had leg pain on the atenolol or bystolic? Also, can anyone else tell me of any other type of medicine that helped to lower heart rate other that a beta blocker?

Avatar n tn I have been having generalized joint aches and now have numbness under my left great toe and part of the ball of my foot. It also seems as though I have "restless leg" issues at night. Recently, I have noticed an increase in lower leg and pedal edema (mild, but slightly pitting if I'm up all day on my feet). I have cervical disc problems and a type of trigeminal neuralgia and take Neurontin. I also take metoprolol for WPW (only 12.5mg daily).

The pain only starts after I take my 5mg Bystolic tablet. I too gained 15 pds with no dietary changes. I joined Weight Watchers and an wasting money nothing seems to be working to lose the weight.
Avatar m tn It seems to occur randomly, but I want to make sure it isn't an indication of long term problems with the medication. This also occurs sometimes when I am walking, and my left leg will also have the same sensation. It lasts for about 5 minutes, but for the next hour my limb will be tingly and feels numb compared to everywhere else. Is this a common occurrence? Thank You!
378273 tn?1262101221 PVC's (or maybe they are PAC's?) Could this be due to the pain in the leg? Or rather the stress because of the pain? I'm taking Ibuprofen, though the pharmacist said it is not a good idea while on Metoprolol, but if I don't take it all the time there shouldn't be a problem. Could the interaction between the Meto and the Ibu be causing the palpitations? Just wondering!
Avatar n tn last night when I went to sit up I got a sharp pain on the left side of my upper back. it would get worse whenever I took a deep breath, moved my body in a certain way or moved my left arm. now today the pain isn't as bad, still there, but now my heart is going really fast, especially when I stand up and when I lay back down I get palpitations for a few minutes. sometimes the pain radiates to my chest or shoulder. I've had random pains in those areas for a while.
Avatar f tn Hi, I had a drug eluding stent (taxus) placed almost two months ago. I have pain when i take a deep breath, shoulder blade pain, especialy when i lie down. I'm taking a beta blocker (cardensiel a french version, reduced from 5 mg to 2.5 mg) plavix 75 mg, enteric aspirin, crestor 10mg, as well as for my thyroid levoxyl .75 mg and cytomel .05 mg.
Avatar n tn I had 2 ablations and each time my heart rate increased for a short time after the procedure. I did not experience any chest pain or discomfort other than my leg was a bit sore. Interestingly, after the second procedure, my BP rose enough to warrant a small dose of medication. Up until then, my BP was on the low side...95-110/55-65. Hope you are feeling better. I'm happy to hear your test results are good!! Take care.
Avatar m tn Just an up-date, My doctor changed my medication to 300mg of Diltiazem. All of my leg muscle pain is gone, I can walk again without pain! And the chest pain that goes all the way through to my back is also gone! Metoprolol took all of my energy, and ambition, which I really didn't realize until I stopped taking it. I found it very difficult to get out of bed while taking Metoprolol.
Avatar m tn 25 year old male. Average fitness. Lumbar MRI: micro bulges at L4-L5 & L5-L6. No nerves being compressed. Neurologist rules out of cause of any pain. Brain MRI/MRA: Likely clinically insignificant cyst above mouth. Slightly deviated septum. No other findings. Left leg, right leg, and right arm EMG: normal Chest CT: trace gynecomastia. Borderline enlarged spleen. No aneurysms. Cardiologist and GP dismiss gynecomastia and enlarged spleen finding as inconsequential.
Avatar m tn I suffer from chest pressure, chest pain, left shoulder pain, left arm pain, left elbow pain, veins that swell in my left forearn, lower jaw pain, dizziness and leg pain (only when walking up stairs). I have been told my symptoms are "atypical" in nature for cardiac problems but when you look them up on the internet they all say heart condition. I want to see my doc. but they always brush me off, saying it is anxiety. I don't know what to do anymore. I have had many tests done.

As we speak I am having episodes including chest pain, pain on the left side of my neck, left arm pain, weakeness in my left arm, wrists and hands, arm and hand is cold, left jaw pain, teeth hurt and metal taste in my mouth. I have been back and forth to the E.R. with no answers. I was given a prescription for Prozac and I am afraid to take it because of the listed side effects.
Avatar m tn I was advised by the attending doctor that I should apply heat and elevate the leg. I did this for 3 full days and nights. After the first day my leg had swollen and had a small blister formed that brke open and there was some slight bleeding.I suffered a stroke 8 years ago caused by atrial fibrilation and a heart attack 3 years ago whereupon I had double by pass surgery. Avatar f tn I spoke with my OBGYN and was told that my problem was a muscle pull, the pain was near the crease in my leg and the pelvic area. I wanted to make sure that it was not arthritis, so I had x rays. The arthritis doctor said that I did not have hip arthritis, and that my back x rays were OK, except for H dis. The doctor gave me Naproxen 500mg. to take 2 weeks to a month The doctor said that I could walk, but not to over do it. My question is if I rest a lot, will I get better faster?
Avatar f tn I have low blood pressure with standing. I have been taking metoprolol and midodrine. Lately after 4 months of meds I been having such prickling numbness its painful and I am weak dizzy had stiff neck apper bck pulling inthe muscles of my head. tingling pain on moving the head even just bending the skin. They checked for lyme disease negative but I dont know if its been enough time. Is a sweat test what I need they did a nerve test of arm and leg showed some arthritis.
Avatar m tn Ever since surgery, I haven't felt so great. I have leg weakness and dizziness, and run out of breath at the slightest exertion. Rule out medication, as I am only taking metoprolol 25mg per day, and I have got off it for 2 weeks to see if my symptoms improved and my PVC's worsened. Getting off the metoprolol did not change anything. Does that sound familiar, or do you have any idea what would cause my symptoms? A recent sonogram showed good heart function with an EF of 65.
Avatar f tn I went in for a stent but the area that the doctor was trying to push through collapsed and brought on a heart attack. I was put on Metoprolol among other meds and found myself becoming increasingly breathless with the slightest exertion. (I was also leaking urine.) I discovered that Metoprolol has a reputation for making asthma worse! I was not asthmatic but I was a smoker -- and that fact was on the record. I kept complaining and my doctor kept increasing the dosage.
