Avatar m tn The joint specialist started physical therapy and the hip finally got well enough to get off crutches and only use a cane by December. Since then I have spells where I might go a week without the cane or a few days. It is crazy the way the pain comes and goes. I have also had severe bouts with lower back and neck pain in the last year.
Avatar m tn I have also had very painful musculoskeletal chest pain and ankle joint pain. I had severe asthma, shortness of breath and fatigue. After a lot of dizziness and other pain, and discussions with my doctor, I slowly decreased my dose and have been Metoprolol free for two days. My cough, wheeze, pain etc has almost gone. I have immediately more energy and also no dizziness. My legs and ankles still hurt and I have tight calves. I hope my body returns to what it used to be.

443862 tn?1237999439 Without these meds I can not function...in fact currently I am on 88 mcg and I am symptomatic (terrible joint pain), I do better when I take 100 mcg and my TSH is around 1.0. Good luck!!
Avatar n tn He has the shakes so bad he cannot eat, becuase he cannot eat he is losing his appetite and strength. They put him on a beta-blocker Metoprolol. He coughs so bad he chokes.
772216 tn?1259273237 m 18 and I have suffered from joint pain since I was 10. It started in my knees and about 4 years ago started spreading, within about 2 years it was in almost every joint and last year affected my jaw (my jaw is not a huge problem just some occasional aches, rarely is it really bad). I am in severe pain daily with little to no relief and also have muscle spasms mostly in my chest and back. I have been on a range of diff.
Avatar m tn I have suffered with taking diltiazem(180 mg ER) AND metoprolol (50 mg ER) for atril fibrillation for the past two and a half years. The side effects have been debilitating.. Both drugs have the same side effects and together and one or the other or both create what I can only describe as chaotic turbulence in my chest and pain in my left arm when the second drug kicks in.. My cardiolgist now wants me to add a blood thinner (xarelto) to my meds menu.
1027737 tn?1253103788 Hi, Can someone tell me what the difference between Metoprolol and Metoprolol Tartrate is? Thank You in advance!
Avatar n tn Beta-blockers affect the heart and circulation (blood flow through arteries and veins). Metoprolol is used to treat angina (chest pain) and hypertension (high blood pressure). It is also used to treat or prevent heart attack. It seems to me if you have high blood pressure the medication should be taken regularily and not as needed. I don't know the effect it has on chest pain.
Avatar n tn She had her f/u with her cardiologist yesterday and was diagnosed with PVCs. She was put on Metoprolol, and told to go to the ED if she had an episode that lasted more than 30 seconds. There isn't much material easily accessible about the correlation, and the effect on her overall prognosis. She found an article that lumped A-fib, V-fib, PVCs all together, and then gave a 33-month prognosis of 50%, without explaining the factors related to that.
Avatar m tn Hi, I'm glad that the Lopressor (metoprolol) work great for you!!! Can I know why you take it? What I understand is that beta blocker have usually mild side-effects when they are give to people with high blood pressure... BUT in my case, my blood pressure is lower to normal only and rarely in the high range (only when i'm in a middle of a panic attack or in a situation where I feel trap).
Avatar n tn My electrophysiologist recently put me on a beta blocker (Metoprolol) 25 mg twice a day for hypertension and a ton of other symptoms he said must be due to Neurocardiogenic Syncope. I was diagnosed with asthma a couple years ago and it seems as if the beta blocker is causing shortness of breath and a feeling that seems similar to how I feel after exercising, a sort of chest tightness I would say. Is this common for beta blockers to do to people with asthma?
Avatar f tn When they were trying to control rate with JUST beta blockers... I took 200 of propranolol and 300 of metoprolol and occasional 100 of labetalol here and there. It helped but it worked a LOT better when other classes of drugs were added. Since the point is to slow you down, it generally SLOWS you down. When I was on THAT much, I felt like I was nailed to the couch. Now, instead I take coreg as a beta blocker and diltiazem, and flecainide and lisinopril.
Avatar n tn more than usual, I just eat another banana and in about an hour everythings good again. No pain...just a sense of movement in my chest. Dr. tried to change me to Terazosin but the flutters were intollerable so he put me back on Metoprolol. My BP is high on the 50 mg of Metoprolol (169/90) so he wants to give me 50 mg Metoprolol in the morning and another 50 mg at night. I'm worried that this will increase the heart flutters. I'm so sick of bananas...
1806721 tn?1554333407 It happens with women with cholesterol. Cholesterol attracts low BP, joint pain and breathing problems, hyperthyroidism, diabetes. Take good amount of calcium and vitamin D3 in your food and exercise 4-5 days a week. Drink good amount of water. I know this because my aunt had the same problem.
Avatar f tn Hello... I am having an inordinate number of PVC's/PAC's and I just need advice...or help or something. Here is my background: I am 47 yo female who up till about three months ago was very healthy. I exercise daily, my weight is good, low BP, well adjusted everything lol. In the beginning of August I began having left shoulder/arm and chest pain and I thought it was related to a small lump under my left arm. I had a mammogram/US of left arm and it was negative for any problems.
Avatar f tn I recently had an exacerbation of svt requiring adenosine and an increase in my maintenance metoprolol dosage. I essentially lost a day of memory and have been forgetful and foggy headed. Just wondering if this is normal. I can't get any doctor I have seen to address this.
Avatar f tn I have experienced tingling in my legs, pressure in my head, takes time for eyes to focus on things, jittery, pain in my chest area and back, and in the morning my heart rate is usually high when I get up anywhere from 110-130. Is this a normal reaction to this medication? My doctor thinks my rapid heart rate is due to severe anemia and possible hyperthyroidism.
Avatar n tn Well I would start with some basics about me- I do not smoke (smoked for a year quit that 05-06) I am 22 not overweight dont drink , but also not very active and I do suffer from Panic disorder and Chronic Anxiety. My question is well this could have very well happened in the past when my anxious worry was always my stomach. since 06 however its been my heart.
Avatar n tn After a while the noises and joint pain may go away, but the joint continues to undergo damage. It just becomes quiet and the pain gets transmitted to the other parts of the head. The patient who experiences once a month headaches, along with a poppin joint, eventually becomes the twice a week headache patient with no joint noises. Vision: The trigeminal nerve is responding to a muscle and jaw joint compression by irritation of its maxillary/opthalmic division.
Avatar f tn I have had increased blood pressure and heart rate over the last several months and my doctor put me on Toprol XL 25mg. Now I am having severe pain in my right knee which goes down into my ankle causing sharp pain. Could this problem be caused by the medication I am taking for my BP? I am taking the generic form, Metoprolol ER. Thank you.
Avatar n tn I never know when they are going to come on and how strong they are going to be and how long they are going to last. The cardiologist has now put me on the 50mg of metoprolol/daily and 100mg of Flecainide/twice daily. Yesterday was my first dose of the flecainide and I ended up in the emergency room again. The doctor at the ER just sounded annoyed with me...told me nothing can be done, PVC's are benign. All he did was give me 1mg of Ativan for anxiety. I don't know what to do anymore...
Avatar f tn I'm 33 years old and prescibed Metoprolol for my heart palpitations, which happens everytime I eat food. After all cardiac tests came back normal, she mentioned that it may be stress related. I'm now being prescribed 20 mg Celexa for aniexty. I only take 6.25 mg of Metoprolol, cutting it into quarters, but are scared to take the two in combination. There are so many warnings about not mixing them. My heart rate has slowed down with the Celexa, but I still get the pounding sensation.
Avatar f tn I had, on average, 20-30,000 ectopic beats every day, and 6-700 runs of SVT per day. Most of my episodes occur at night. From 10pm to 6am, my hourly burden of PACs/SVTwas 30-80%. It starts in the evening and then keeps me awake constantly. The meds have all been a disaster. I have had two ablation attempts with failure to induce. The last ablation attempt caused pericarditis. I was.taking Metoprolol, which I have taken before and it always seems to stop working.
Avatar n tn I have frequent PVC's (often with bigeminy) and I also have lots of reflux problems. I have been getting a lot more PVC's the past couple of weeks. I switched from Toprol XL to generic Metoprolol, and I I don't know if that has had any affect. I have also had increased reflux issues during this time. I am getting more PVC's and bigeminy than normal and am noticing it most when I lean forward, especailly while eating. Does this sound like the PVC's are coming from reflux?
