876405 tn?1243511886 Here's the question- I am wondering if these PVC's and PAC's that I have been experiencing in the past 2 months have to do with suddenly stopping the metoprolol that I was on for my high blood pressure. I don't recall ever getting them before and now they occurring constantly..I was taking metoprolol 25 mg twice a day and then my dr discontinued it because I found out that I was pregnant. Now I am taking something else for the blood pressure that is safe to take in pregnancy.

I'm not the only one to think so! :) Excerpt from Dr Axe's article Tourette Syndrome + 9 Natural Treatments... "1.Magnesium Magnesium supports the central nervous system, promoting proper muscle action and reaction.
672586 tn?1280937258 Can I simply switch without fear of withdrawal symptoms from the metoprolol? His instructions were to stop taking the metoprolol when I start the new diltiazem. I was not aware that I might face withdrawal from metoprolol.
Avatar f tn I have a wonderful (and high profile) cardiologist in Boston (who performed the ablation). He put me on flecainide (worked up to 75mg/day) and 50mg/day metoprolol. It worked at first - not a blip. But then I started having frightening episodes of SVT, which brought me to the ER, and eventually hospitalization. He took me off the flecainide which seemed to be the cause of the SVT. I also have atrial flutter now.

Avatar f tn Back in November of 2008, I literally woke up one morning with my muscles twitching everywhere and I mean everywhere. It has not stopped since. I have chronic widespread muscle twitching and cramping with acute attacks of intense itching on my arms. I have no rash when this occurs. I noticed when I do have the intense itching which my Dr. diagnosed as Pruritis, I get really nauseous and vomit. I have seen two Neurologists. The first Neuro did blood work, EMG, and muscle biopsy.

Avatar m tn I've gone to out-patients/ER several times when I've had this high heart rate and at other times when I've felt a pinching pain where my pectoral muscle connects to my sternum. The ER staff have done ECGs and blood work but have found nothing. I also had a stress test performed which was reviewed by a cardiologist but I am concerned my heart rate was not high enough because of the metoprolol.
Avatar m tn I'll try anything! I'm 45, male, never smoker or illegal drugs, hypertension controlled with Metoprolol (Lopressor). Very rarely do I have alcohol anymore. Married & 2 kids. Ok, I've had pain in back of both knees and down legs for over 5 years. I have had lots of testing and seen several doctor specialties... It started as a tingling in both knees for three days, went away for three weeks, then came back as a painful sensation and has worsened over the years.
378273 tn?1262101221 PVC's (or maybe they are PAC's?) Could this be due to the pain in the leg? Or rather the stress because of the pain? I'm taking Ibuprofen, though the pharmacist said it is not a good idea while on Metoprolol, but if I don't take it all the time there shouldn't be a problem. Could the interaction between the Meto and the Ibu be causing the palpitations? Just wondering!
Avatar f tn After lowering the statin to once a day the pain is a little better. I read that plavix can also cause muscle pain, as well as beta blockers. I'm more tired than i was before the event. All tests, including a CT scan are negative. Some old spinal fracture showed up in the fifth vertebra. One dr said the cpr and shock may have aggravated it, as well as having to wear an external defibrillator for 11 days while drs. decided whether i needed an ICD or not. (I don't.
Avatar m tn Hi, Sorry you are experiencing the intense pain in your left thigh. I recently recovered from sciatica involving thigh and foot pain. Most folks refer to the cause of sciatica as a pinched nerve in the lower back. L5 in my case. Like you described the pain varies and does increase with sitting long and could be aggravated by specific repeated motion. In my case I tended to bend at the waste in order to pull stubborn weeds out of the healthy hedge in my yard. Poor posture is ofter a culprit!
Avatar m tn Just an up-date, My doctor changed my medication to 300mg of Diltiazem. All of my leg muscle pain is gone, I can walk again without pain! And the chest pain that goes all the way through to my back is also gone! Metoprolol took all of my energy, and ambition, which I really didn't realize until I stopped taking it. I found it very difficult to get out of bed while taking Metoprolol.
Avatar f tn they put the new medicated stent in. I take metoprolol, isosorbide, metformin, aspirin, buspar, effexor, nexium, pravastatin. My doctor has ran all the test including stress test with dye, echo cardio& blood work. Everything has come back good. He said the blood flow is good.

Avatar n tn Hi all. I had an ablation 4 weeks ago and since that time I have been experiencing chest tightness, pressure, and sharp pains in the heart. I am seeing my doctor on a weekly basis to determine the cause and undergo treatment. Following a work up of tests (echo, nuclear stress, ekg, etc.) the doctor has determined that everything in the heart is normal and that this "discomfort may be something that I just have to ride out.
Avatar f tn About your heart, well it is not at all sure you will get the same heart problems like your parents had even if you have heart pain. It might be only a muscle pain. And we often get pain because of stress itself. That gives a huge stress on you knowing thinking about your parents hearts. But remember, if you do everything well ,and important to stay calm,(do not panic if you feel a little pain )..
772216 tn?1259276837 I hope your other post(s) is(are) providing something useful. I read you've been on the "hard stuff" pain-wise. My mention of aspirin was for the heart, not pain. As you know, this Community is about heart rhythm problems, and some of them, such as AFib, can cause blood clots. Aspirin helps reduce that occurrence. Aspirin seems to also have some other heart/survival benefits. I think there may be some disagreement on these additional benefits.
Avatar f tn On the tummy injury, where you say the muscles tense up, that's muscle spasm. Usually that happens from a muscle injury (even your diaphram that controls breathing) or from a nerve injury. On your asthma getting out of hand, it's spring and your cat may be blowing her coat for the summer, so might be dust bunnies are irritating your sinuses.
