Avatar m tn Hi I have been Suffering with Pains in my Left Chest Area for 6 Weeks,I have been been to The Doctor and Hospital to have ECG,Heart Scan,Blood Oxygen and Blood Pressure, and all the Results came back fine. The Doctor said it could be a Pulled Chest Wall Muscle and said take Pain Killers. My Symptoms are time to time I feel sick,I have Dizzyness,Heart Palpatations,Hot and Cold and shivers,Lack of Sleep, fear of dieing, and having a Heart attack fears. Could some of this be Stress?
443862 tn?1237999439 I don't think the metoprolol, a beta blocker which; reduces the force and rate of the contraction of the heart, is causing this. The medicines that you take for hyperthyroidism might cause some exacerbation of the "hard heart beat" symptoms, especially if they are contraindicated with metoprolol, of course. Your doctor should be on top of this and I would let him know about it, especially if it just started, or is getting worse.
Avatar f tn t know too much about your medication for Thyroid, although I was on Metoprolol for over a year, I always had chest tightness and pain to the point I thought I had heart trouble, I had a fast heart rate and moderate high blood pressure at the time the Cardiac md put me on 100mg Metoprolol, He did not know at that time that I had Hashimoto's and that high Bp's and fast heart rates are part of the package with thyroid disorders, I did some checking into the side effects of Metoprolol, It s
Avatar f tn Chest pain when you take a deep breath is not typical of cardiac chest pain. That is usually from another cause like musculoskeletal (bone, muscle or soft tissue). Having a diagnosis of non sustained VT is not a reason to panic. If you have a normal EKG, echo and probably stress test, VT with a normal heart is not associated with increased cardiac risk. Often a medication like metoprolol and a calcium channel blocker will help decrease the frequency.
672586 tn?1280933658 Can I simply switch without fear of withdrawal symptoms from the metoprolol? His instructions were to stop taking the metoprolol when I start the new diltiazem. I was not aware that I might face withdrawal from metoprolol.
Avatar m tn Hey thanks for your explanations... If I understand well, it's not dangerous? My last echo from the summer 2014 show nothing wrong and my EF was 60... At the end of 2012 I had a nuclear stress test call Persantin mibi and nothing wrong with my heart was found, nothing to explain the chest pain like reduce blood flow...BUT my EF was about 47...
Avatar m tn When we changed to bisoprolol I have experienced ankle pain, now severe knee pain, and pain in implant area when trying to do bench presses. We have changed back to metoprolol starting today. Befeore implant I could run 25 miles a week without pain. Ater implant abot 10 -15 miles a week, less miles, slower pace with added days to rest in between. This is the first time I am experiencing pain ever. what should I do?.
Avatar m tn does metoprolol regulate your heart rate, preventing an increased heart pace when having a pacemaker?
Avatar n tn I've been dealing with PAC's/PVC close to five years now. They come and go in intensity but have lately been really active. I finally started to take Metoprolol 25mg 2x day. I haven't noticed any significant change in improvement other than maybe they don't feel as strong but they are still there. At what point do I discontinue the meds or is there some valuable benefit to a beta blocker as far as overall heart health.
Avatar n tn Beta-blockers affect the heart and circulation (blood flow through arteries and veins). Metoprolol is used to treat angina (chest pain) and hypertension (high blood pressure). It is also used to treat or prevent heart attack. It seems to me if you have high blood pressure the medication should be taken regularily and not as needed. I don't know the effect it has on chest pain.
15860670 tn?1443541254 I am so sick and tired of taking pills that make me feel like I am not myself. I am always, tired, weak, have muscle pain, I have headaches daily, I have leg cramps, I have memory loss, I have vision problems, I have pain and neuropathy in my feet.

264156 tn?1206986994 5 mg of metoprolol and it dramatically calms things down. Is it okay to take metoprolol as needed? I would say I take it once every 8-9 days, but sometimes have to take it 2-4 days in a row. THANKS SO MUCH!!!!
211940 tn?1267881266 Hey Stan, lol i like your dr question, though i was thinking more along the lines of hitting him with a 2 x 4 plank of wood, just to see if that gave him a better idea lol From my ignorant perspective, I sort of get if you have a defect from birth, normally if its going ok you'd leave it alone, that does make sense, though what exactly does it mean if your having intercostal muscle spasms which is repeatedly putting even more strain on your heart defect?
Avatar m tn In those 2 years, I start having more and more heart related symptoms. Chest pain, jaw pain, left arm pain, exercise intolerance, dizziness, vertigo, intestine problems, low energy physically and mentally... I have severe anxiety (panic with agoraphobia, somatisation, GAD, social anxiety). My anxiety is not well control, I'm med sensitive and can't take antidepressants like Paxil, Lexapro or even older ones like imipramine...
Avatar f tn I take metoprolol and I have had hardly any side effects. It did make me alittle tired but I got use to it. Everybody is different when it comes to meds and side effects. For expample musikbox could not tolerate metoprolol and was switched to atenolol. For me it was the opposite. I could not function on atenolol and had to come off of it and I am having no problems with metoprolol.

Avatar m tn I went to the ER that evening with a blood pressure of 150s/115, pulse 125-150. The ER doctor administered a 100mg prescription for Metoprolol. Prior to that, I was only on .88mcgs of Levothyroxine for Hashimoto's Disease, along with 1000mg of concentrated Garlic extract. I had never had excessive hypertension, with an average blood pressure reading of 130s/70s.
Avatar f tn I have had increased blood pressure and heart rate over the last several months and my doctor put me on Toprol XL 25mg. Now I am having severe pain in my right knee which goes down into my ankle causing sharp pain. Could this problem be caused by the medication I am taking for my BP? I am taking the generic form, Metoprolol ER. Thank you.
Avatar f tn HTN, chest pain ect.
Avatar f tn This past week I have been having chest pain in the center of my chest through to the middle of my back and my arms and legs feel like the circulation is being cut off. Any input on what I'm looking at would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn I believe I tried a Magnesium supplement when on Metoprolol (a BB). I quit the Magnesium as it did not reduce my symptoms to any degree I could detect.
589617 tn?1218719782 I take metoprolol (aka lopressor) for PVC's and occasional SVT. It has been good for me....my PVC's are not gone, but they are not as "forceful" and therefore are easier to ignore. The SVT is very infrequent for me in the first place, so I can't say that the metoprolol has had anything to do with the fact that I haven't had any for nearly 1.5 years, but I'm not going to stop the drugs to find out :-).
Avatar m tn Stress testing helps to identify perfusion defects, indicating diminished blood supply to heart muscle. So, if this was normal its unlikely that the pain is due to angina. If the EKG was also normal, you don't have to worry about Mitral valve prolapse. Lifestyle modifications like avoidance of caffeine, exercise, relaxation techniques and pain relievers are advised. Beta blockers and aspirin are indicated if you have rhythm abnormalities or if prone for blood clots.
Avatar n tn When did the shaking ang cough started? Is this before or after the prescription of metoprolol? Metoprolol is a beta-adrenergic blocking agent that is used for treating high blood pressure, heart pain, abnormal rhythms of the heart, and some neurologic conditions. Metoprolol is generally well tolerated. However, this drug may reduce blood flow to the hands and feet, causing them to feel cold. Smoking may worsen this effect. Some side effects include: symptoms of a very slow heartbeat (e.g.
Avatar m tn Has anyone developed Arthritis like side effects? I started taking Metoprolol (25 mg) in Feb of 2012 and suddenly in August my right hip began to develop severe pain. I did not relate this to being a side effect so had tests which showed "minor Arthritis and small tear in Labrum. The joint specialist started physical therapy and the hip finally got well enough to get off crutches and only use a cane by December.
