I have searched for the excellent articles that was written by a physician on the positives of methadone treatment for Chronic Pain (CP) sufferers. I cannot find it.This physician felt that methadone was the best opiate for chronic pain with the least side effects. I will keep looking but it has not come up on my goggle search. I assume because I can't remember the name of the physician. It should be in MH archives as there was a discussion on this articles some time ago.

When I was takeing alot of pills it messed with mine. but I am also in my mid 40s so who knows...lol..

He has become addicted to oxys since the accident and now does them intravenously, and at extremely high doses talking 500 to 600 in 24 hours (is trying to taper down). Can you recommend any treatment centers that specialize in addicts with TBI no longer acute that accepts medicaid in or around missouri. He has been through regular rehab a few times. We have been told that will be hard for him to quit until he gets help with the TBI first.

There are lots of detox centers in florida...sometimes you have to go where your insurance directs you..if you have your choice I would google it...

Hi, I have been in and out of treatment centers since age 15 ( first depression, then drugs etc) I had been taking percocet and suddenly I am getting my life together. Got into a vetrinary technology school and an apartment. I am on paxil which seems tobe helping depression anxiety. I knowsubutex is supposed to have benefits of taking away body pain and then I switch to suboxon so I can't get high, just still feel okay about myself and life.

You have traditional rehabs that will require a 30 to 90 day commitment, you have medical detoxification that some treatment centers offer , you have rapid detox ( I work with The Waismann Method) where you will need a week or you can titrate slowly on your own . Most patients that I have seen that have succeeded in an outpatient basis tapered really slowly like 1 to 2 milligrams a week.

I was on Darvocet for 2 yrs & then my dr switched me to methadone once I found out I was pregnant. Without exception UROD must always be followed immediatley by the same ************** program which any opiate addict must undergo. UROD is a beneficial treatment specifically for individuals who want to get off methadone. It DOES NOT cure addiction nor does it prevent all physical withdrawal symptoms, and it does nothing for psychological withdrawal or furutre drug craving. Seeing a 'counselor' does not either.

I need some honest opinions please............ I recently started a methadone treatment program. I am doing the 6 month program. This is my 3rd day of treatment. I am starting at one dose of 30mg of methadone. Is this a good number to start with??? TOO HIGH of a number?? PRETTY LOW of a number??? When I knew I was going to stop taking methadone I called all the detox centers in my area and asked alot of questions. I had heard that methadone was very hard to come off of and I fully intended to have to be hospitalized. I told my family that we would try this at home and if I got real bad I would go to hospital. My question today is, is it acceptable to ask about specific MS centers? I'm waiting to hear from one, have another in mind, and keep hearing suggestions (from less informed sources) that I should check out another. Of these, the first and third are CMSC members. The third is probably a good hundred miles away, maybe a bit more.

He told us about suboxone treatment and that made me curious to research, so we left the clinic to do some research before starting the methadone maintenance treatment. Open searching I came across other options- like the Thomas Recipe (cold turkey quitting.) I do like the sounds of suboxone over methadone, but I am afraid because I have read that you can have bad withdrawals from suboxone too? Also, suboxone treatment is a LOT harder to find in my city than methadone.

There are no free clinics and I know a little about that in fl. It always costs there except for maybe VA clinics for vets. I had the same problem once in fl. many years ago. Sometimes you have to just go with what's delt , which may mean no $ no more methadone and detox. It tough but it can be done with conviction, faith and some meds. Most addicts also freak and and get suicidal when they know they have to go through it.

i suspect only larger liver transplant centers would agree to transplant someone of his age so a second opinion should be sought. i hope this is helpful.

He always tells me that I should just stop taking narcotics because he never would take them!

If it is at all possible to get him into treatment, please consider it. The treatment centers are geared toward teaching us new coping skills and I am certain your son will benefit from it in a big way. After he gets clean and is on his way, are you considering coming off of the Methadone yourself? I hope so for both of your sake. Stick around here. I was put on methadone 14 years ago for chronic pain. 4 years ago I was taken off of it cold turkey. In desperation a got into a methadone clinic. I'm finding that the liquid methadone doesn't seem to work on pain as the pills did. Is this In my head or is there really a difference. Also is this site for online addiction support or is it medical advice. Kind of confused on that issue.

Has anyone on this forum been on treatment while being prescribed methadone? I'd like to hear from anyone who has done this SVR or not. I'm waiting to get accepted into a trial, the methadone limits my placement also another drug, I'm currently prescribed. The only one they were really concerned with was the methadone, I'm not in a maintenence program but I would like to hear from anyone.

Back when I got sober 30 years ago Alcoholism treatment centers were all the rage. Then it was Cancer treatment centers. The staff took the team approach. How about a MS program. MS treatment Centers of America. They would get you on Steroids if you needed them. Start you on a DMD. Set up appointments with other professionals such as Urologists or have them on staff who understand MS. Work on PT and OT.
