methadone treatment

I need some honest opinions please............ I recently started a methadone treatment program. I am doing the 6 month program. This is my 3rd day of treatment. I am starting at one dose of 30mg of methadone. Is this a good number to start with??? TOO HIGH of a number?? PRETTY LOW of a number??? I have hears many horror storeis of people and methadone, about trading one drug for another and all that.

im 16 years old and im addicted to oxycontin, i recently went to the doctors and got recommended to call a methadone clinic. whats the chance that i will be accepted for treatment?

I want to be prepared if one of these days my doctor will give up on me! Does anyone on this forum know anything about Methadone Treatment and Suboxone Treatment? I have read a lot about Suboxone Treatment but I haven't found much on Methadone Treatment. I would really appreciate any advice!!! I can't even talk to my husband about this subject. He always tells me that I should just stop taking narcotics because he never would take them!

I was put on methadone 14 years ago for chronic pain. 4 years ago I was taken off of it cold turkey. In desperation a got into a methadone clinic. I'm finding that the liquid methadone doesn't seem to work on pain as the pills did. Is this In my head or is there really a difference. Also is this site for online addiction support or is it medical advice. Kind of confused on that issue.

Has anyone on this forum been on treatment while being prescribed methadone? I'd like to hear from anyone who has done this SVR or not. I'm waiting to get accepted into a trial, the methadone limits my placement also another drug, I'm currently prescribed. The only one they were really concerned with was the methadone, I'm not in a maintenence program but I would like to hear from anyone.

I have been taking suboxone for seven or eight days. and I was on methadone 5mg. but I was wondering how long would it take for the methadone to get out of my system , so that if I were to start detoxing off of the sub. would I still withdrawl from methadone too? do I need to take the sub for a few more weeks and then try ? The doc said that she makes the decision of whether or not he is good candidate My question is many people at methadone clinics have hep c and continue their methadone treatment saying that it helps. That is right, I use methadone before 100 mg, and after I start with hep C treatment, I get very ill. I had stop with methadone in several years, but have to start again because I was very ill and the old 100 mg was not enough. I had to start with 200 mg, and I read about methadone that you have to increase the doses when you have pain, and take it several time in a day, and not only one time like normal.

OP would need an evaluation and acceptance into a methadone treatment program and acceptance into it to qualify for a methadone program- however they do not provide methadone for ongoing chronic medical conditions.

How do you guys feel about Methadone treatment vs abstinence from Pills? I think I was trying to help myself with the Methadone but it basically got me addicted to synthetic heroine, which is worse to come off of than just the 4-5 days withdrawal of pills! I don't recommend it. I think if you can't quit pills, maybe rehab or try yourself- but stay away from Methadone. Any opinions?

The just of the whole thing was replacement treatment. Using you guessed it, Methadone.. As well as Sub. But like they said, They only have a few years of studys from the sub. So most of the information was based on methadone, Now I have taken methadone. So I was pretty shocked to here what they had to say. They were saying in order for the treatment to be a sucess. You have to be on it 2 years. Yes 2 years. If you do that. and come off with the help of the doctor. Your rate of sucess is 70%.

i have a friend who has some methadone pills. He takes 80 mg of the liquid methadone, what I can give him is tablets. Would it be the same as the liquid? And should he take the 80 mg all at one time like he does at the clinic. Really not sure what to do. Please give me respone asap I leave town Tues. evening. My son is meeting me on Friday.
