It could be a side effect of the methadone or even an allergic type reaction to it. I remember when I took Macrobid (antibiotic) for a urinary infection, I had a high fever (102.3) every time I would take it, so I called my doctor's office and they told me to stop it immediately because I was having an allergic reaction to it. As it turned out, my father had had this same type of reaction to it a couple years before.

They kept increasing my dose until at my highest I was taking 600mgs of methadone daily and was a walking zombie and suffering some sever side effects. It was hell trying to decrease from that high of a dose down to 30mgs to make the switch to suboxone. High doses of methadone long term have really screwed some people up. Also as a new methadone patient be sure to pay special attention to your oral hygiene.

Hi, I agree with hellc@mst. U have to make sure u have really good oral hygiene while on methadone. I've been on methadone for over 7 yrs and my teeth r just fine. I also brush and floss 3 times a day everyday.

HI welcome to the world of methadone they dont tell you about im sorry hun about all you can do is get off the stuff to get rid of the side effects I was on it for 6 1/2 yr and lived in a sexless marriage it s u c ked I know of nothing that can fix your problem other then getting off the stuff if you need help with that I can help good luck and God bless........

I wish i had never been offered Methadone. I never noticed any side effects up untill about 2yrs ago. I have every known side effect,but the worst one of all at the moment is excessive sweating. My quality of life is zero. I sweat from head to toe most days all day. I sit with ice ,cold can's of juice sitting on my cheek's,my breasts and my wrists. Ive put on 4st in weight,and i know this wont be helping the situation. I don't know what to do anymore.

Nonetheless, as said, it beats the brutal, unbearing side effects, of toxic waste = METHADONE! and by the way I am no junkie. My doctor used to give me methadone straight up in nothing but water! So if i really wanted to abuse a medication........... And yes I have pain still!

my advise is stay on it only as long as you have to to stratin out your life then get off it I had beautiful teeth and have always took care of them but my dentist says several of my molars are rotting from the root and there is no fixing that he says it was from the methadone this stuff eats up your whole body the side effects are many use it wile you got to then get off good luck and God bless hope this helps you........

So today my Celexa dose was upped from half a pill to 1 whole pill and the side effects are coming back like when I first started... Sweaty, can't sleep, headache, stiff neck, clenching teeth... Etc. I don't know what to do. I tried taking stuff for it, including an Oxy but still no change. What can I take to make these side effects not so bad? I don't see the dr till Thursday, so I can't ask her... If anyone has any suggestions?

I have been on methadone at 75 mls for several years ,I insist on sugar free methadone as there is a choice ,that helps with teeth .. Weight . Sadly I was on sugar methadone for a long time and put on a lot me weight ,the sugar free is the best option . My conference has been knocked since weight gain I eat to many sugar based foods its v frustrating I walked miles yet weight only came off with reduction . Its not a race the main thing is not to be desperately getting money for opiates .

I have been in the clinic on methadone for a little over 90 days now and i am on 110mg a day . Since starting i have noticed that i wake up with dry mouth and when i eat everything has no taste and i have the same taste or feeling in my mouth no matter what i eat. The doctors have said that they would have to pluck my 4 teeth from each side. the 4th teeth from each side will be taken out . Does it have any side-effects like brain-cancer etc.?

I took my shots on Friday night and thought the worst side effects would be over by Monday so I could work. For most of treatment, Saturday was a pretty good day and by Monday I was feeling it. Of course everyone is different, but it can help to watch for trends so you can plan how and when he will have his "down in the bed" days. I'm glad he has you. if methadone has no long term side effects then why about a week after i came off methadone did i urinate blood every time i passed urine for about 24 to36 hours then things cleared up

My husband developed squamous cell carcinoma 5 years ago. After 8 weeks of intensive radiation treatments, along with chemo, his behavior also changed. He doesn't remember things!! He also lost the use of his arms, his shoulder fell out of it's socket, he can not speak and can only eat thru a feeding tube. In the summer of 2009, after two years on home hospice, his tumors disappeared!!

I was on methadone for a year and if you take oxys while on it, you won't really feel the oxys, so it would kinda be pointless, plus the should drug test her at the methadone clinic. Then I dropped the codeine. After about a month, because of side effects, I tried to go back to Codeine, but had problems sleeping, So, For the last 2 months I've been on about 30 mg. Methodone, and about 10 mg. lorazepam daily. I know I'm going to be tapering of the lorazepam for quite a while, and I don't want to be on Methodone during that entire time.
