Common Questions and Answers about Metformin reviews pcos

Avatar n tn I had a child over 4 years ago. And, I've been trying to have another. Well, I've read nothing but, very good reviews. There are many people who have pcos that haven't been able to conceive and, they were actually able to.

1965859 tn?1325562037 They are crazy out of control due to the fact that I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). I am on Metformin and also an antidepressant as well. I was originally taking the generic form of Yaz and was generally happy with it, but I have trouble keeping up with all these medications. I am scheduling an appointment with my gyno and looking into the Ortho Evra patch.
Avatar n tn I'm doing okay with the hcg shots so I mainly hope the Metformin will help with the PCOS. Also, Metformin is being used for a weight loss aid I guess in people with stress issues. I live an amazingly high stress life (not enough room on the internet to go into that one) and have learned that when your body is enduring constant high stress, it causes your liver (?
1669017 tn?1303579296 Hi, ive just turned 25, ive been on metformin for a month now. i was diagnosed with pcos when i was 14, but my doctors didnt really do anything for me. i changed doctors in january and have started seeing a gynecologist. ive been put on metformin and am wondering what will happen next. i have had blood tests and my partner has had a sperm test and we will get the results from both next month at our next gyne appointment.
Avatar n tn I started feeling this way after discovering I have PCOS, getting on Metformin, getting off Metformin, getting on birth control (Yaz), not seeing a difference and having increased pains, until eventually having to get on Zoloft. I first tried herbal remedies. I went to Whole Foods (Natural food store) and bought a bottle of Serenity. It seems to help some with sleeping and anxiety. You can find it online or read about it at: www.gaiaherbs.
992128 tn?1364375342 As for the birth control i know a lot of doctors prescribe it to treat pcos, there is mixed reviews some say take it some say don't. I hope i answered some of your questions.
363243 tn?1331037450 Hello everyone, I hope all is well. I was just diagnosed with PCOS although I've had symptoms of it since I was 12 (hirsutism) and I am now 36. My hirsutism was diagnosed as idiopathic because the testing I had did not indicate an elevated testosterone level. I don't know if the testing is more sophisticated now but I had new testing done and it did indicate that my free weak testosterone was elevated.
Avatar f tn Ive tried birth control pillsto solve it at the time no luck. 2007 after just hearing oh thats just hormonal imbalance 2007 i was diagnosed with pcos and endometrial hyperplasia at age 24. I was put on metformin and then clomid to try and concieve 6 cycles no luck maybe it was 9. Then started takin provera for a long time that is the only thing that helped with the bleeding but never regulated it. My cycles range from 21to 35 days depending on the month.
1396753 tn?1280420684 i have pcos too and just the thought of having the condition makes me depressed and anxious bout my future i have found a great book to reverse the symptoms of painful pcos it is called "natural pcos relief by laura hennings hope this helps
586512 tn?1218515679 I'm also taking metformin, though I haven't been diagnosed with PCOS. Doc said it would help with the lining of my uterus. We tried 3 cycles of clomid and IUIs. No success. Clomid gave me hot flashes and may have made my cervical mucus hostile. This cycle, I took femara and had IUIs (in 2ww). I didn't have hot flashes, but my progesterone level went down slightly when tested on CD 19, compared to when I was on clomid.
Avatar f tn Is your friend also on metformin? Some people have been able to regulate their cycles by taking metformin. In terms of a natural supplement, I have tried "Vitex",chaste berry- a "natural supplement" after reading great reviews. I did not have a good experience, I suffered horrible, realistic nightmares and had to stop after two weeks.
Avatar f tn Hi! If you were my patient, I would advise you to use Metformin and Clomid to help you to conceive. I am not sure what fertab is, so hard to comment on that. The combination of Metformin and Clomid works well for women with PCOS> Weight loss can sometimes work very well too, if you are overweight. Good luck!
2081611 tn?1332984180 Your doctor can also put you on birth control, and sometimes metformin is used. I want the metformin because of the good reviews, but my doc (Katie) is resistant because of how young I am. I have to get a pelvic ultrasound and bloodwork once a month to watch for cysts and hormone changes. Cysts are normally removed with surgery ASAP (laproscopicly, almost always). In extreme cases, people have gotten ovaries removed, or full hysterectomies.
2208415 tn?1339085013 I have also been diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome). Currently taking pill for PCOS (Yasmin and Metformin-I am not diabetic, but Metforming help with PCOS sympthoms-that what I have been told). I do not feel well at all. I have hot flushes, problems with palpitations (I have been diagnosed with tachycardio too and take Bisoprorol Fumarate 2.5mg daily) and problems with sweating and generally I do feel unwell and weak.
Avatar f tn I have been treating hypothyroidism for almost a year, recently added bio progesterone for irregular cycles possibly related to pcos(was perscribed metformin and aldactone but after reading horrible reviews on them I decided to pass), hydrocortizone for adreanals and I am still experiencing extreme fatigue. Reading through some of your prior responses I am interested in how I can find out if I have a chronic infection? Or candidias?
Avatar f tn These medications have been shown to reverse the endocrine abnormalities seen with PCOS within two or three months.....We have seen pregnancies result in less than two months in women who concieved in their very first ovulatory menstrual cycle." These are metformin, pioglitazone and rosiglitazone, taken seperately or as combination. I shall definately be asking on Friday.
2025592 tn?1348159619 I had the same thing and ended up having pcos and fibroids in my uterus. A few simple tests and a pill of metformin helped regulate my periods and in less than a month i was super preggo...
Avatar n tn About a year ago I was diagnosed with PCOS and started Metformin. Now, we just finished our first round of Clomid. We're really hoping that this combo of meds work but we know that if it doesn't there are other options out there for us. We'll be praying for all of you who are TTC! Best wishes!
283175 tn?1295540865 I have started some of my own research and I find it to be overwhelming to read all the success stories. I have PCOS, haven't had my period in 8 months, and as of right now all I know is my left tube is unblocked after having the HSG... Have you talked to a doctor before taking Ovulex or just went and did it?
Avatar m tn I was taking 40 units of Lantus nightly, and 1000mg metformin. I am no longer taking Lantus but, I am still on metformin. Five months on Victoza I lost 32 pounds. Today I have lost a total of 48 pounds. A1C went from 8.2 to 6.7. Victoza does decrease your appetite tremendously; I have to force myself to eat at times. But, I also realized after not eating so much (stomach shrinkage) it becomes hard to overeat….which is a good thing for me. Victoza has been a Blessing for me.
666061 tn?1227112932 When I found out I was pg, one of my female co-workers recommended her clinic with raving reviews. They were fantastic there and especially when I m/c. My co-worker who recommended had 3 m/c and was wonderfully supportive. Every day she would check on me to see how I was doing and the stages of m/c I was in and comiserated with my experience. It's amazing how much closer we are after that. If you have been ttc for longer then a year, it may be worthwhile to start seeing an RE.
Avatar f tn If you can, look around online for patient reviews of their gastroenterologists, and ask your family and friends if they-- or anyone they can ask-- is able to recommend or warn against any of them. I haven't used the gastroenterology forum on this site, yet, but you could see if they have suggestions about finding a good doctor. Your best bet is to find out everything you can because a doctor who's good with one patient could be completely unprofessional with another.
280700 tn?1210287416 I to have pcos and was on Metformin 825 mg. I also was put on Provera and Clomid and fell pregnant on the first cycle. I miscaried at 6 weeks. Baby dust to all of you all wish you luck!!
Avatar f tn Get on yahoo . There is a search for Thyroid Doctors - Top Directory Help. It lists all doctors and has patient reviews on the doctors in your area that specialize in thyroid disease. Your weight is an issue - but it can be managed if you get that TSH back where it is suppose to be. Most are happy when there TSH is at a 1.0 to 1.5 range so you can see you have alot of work ahead of you. Get busy and take charge of this - get a doc to listen to you and hope my information helped.

413852 tn?1317312312 Greetings Ladies... At last check, we are 30 strong in membership...YES!!! I'd like to Thank Naturschild (NC) for starting this group, because it was an excellent idea & very much needed. It's good to know that we are NOT alone on our journey of TTC at the Beautiful age of 40+. Having stated the above, we aren't getting much participation on the boards. I think only a handful of the ladies are posting questions, statements or replying to them.
