metformin and clomid

I too have PCOS and tried metformin and Clomid like RippedonScotch mentioned. The Metformin and Clomid didn't help me and I ended up with a Fertility Specialist as my obgyn could only take it so far. It would be worth talking to your OBGYN about Metformin, it helps a lot of people as does the Clomid. Your wife is very young and if you try those meds you might have great success.

I was on metformin 1500mg for about 8 months before I got pregnant. But my first cycle with clomid and metformin and IUI I got pregnant. The metformin made me ovulate more (3 follicles) so I think it upped the chance. I used clomid and metformin w/o IUI and had no success. I'd give the metfomin a few months before you try something new - it will start working!

I am on Metformin, Clomid, Ovidrel and had my IUI done 11 days ago and am waiting 5 more days to find out the results. I was just curious how yours worked out.

What is clomid and metformin for? I mean if i take this have posibilities to be pregnant? How that it does? Can i bought this in any drugstore?

I too have PCOS and my doc just put me on Metformin to help me Ov I was on clomid for 6 months and only Ov once the whole time now he took me off the clomid and just put me on Metformin and told me that it will help with my Ov I am not insulin resistance but he says it will help me to Ov. I am not over weight and I am over all healthy thank god. I hope it helps you and I both to Ov.

I am anxious to concevie again but have been told by my doctor that I will need a combination of clomid and metformin. Has anyone done both and been effective while breastfeeding ? .

He immediately put me on Metformin and Clomid. I was to take the Metformin 3 times a day (1 pill each time). It is best if you take it with food as it will upset your gastro system. I took 3 pills a day of Clomid starting Day 2 of my cycle for 5 days. I took Metformin for 1 year and took 7 rounds of Clomid before we finally got pregnant. I was off Clomid for 3 months (I didn't like the side effects) when we got pregnant. We now have a 17 month old baby girl who is our miracle child.

I did the clomid thing and m/c too. I couldn't tolerate metformin at all. Decided to switch it up and live a better lifestyle by eating healthier, low, low carbs...low glycemic foods, no fake food----like margarine. Natural as possible. Very little prepackaged/processed foods. Acupuncture. My periods which were nonexistant in my teens and twenties come every 28 days for the past 10 years. Have 2 healthy kids now. Clomid is no picnic. Metformin may or may not work. Good Luck!

I am also taking Metformin and took Clomid 150 and developed a 1 mature follicle. Had a trigger shot last night then intercourse. Today went on PCT test to see how the sperm swims inside and was told by my RE that the sperm is there but it is dead and that possible reason is the negative effect of Clomid :( My dh and I are very dissapointed but RE said that the problem should be bypassed by IUI tomorrow.. Did you also do IUI or JUST metformin and clomid?

Yup you can, I conceived naturally once and 3 times with Clomid and Metformin and an injection of ovidrel. Sometimes the dosage of clomid has to be tweeked, I started with 150mg starting on day 3 for 5 days after 3 insuccessful failures my fert spec switched it to 100mgs starting on day 2 for 8 days and that did the trick for my last two. hi, im concerned about my results with my hsg test. are my chances still high to conceive if my results were clear of blockage from my tubes??? i was also wondering if talking clomid & metformin er will help with the process??? and how should i take metformin??? should i start clomid and metformin together or finish clomid and then start metformin??? is there a particular way to take the combo medication??? i really need to get this clear. im so confused! your help will mean the world to me.

Hi everyone, So my husband and I have been ttc for a little over 2 yrs. I was diagnosed with PCOS after my first miscarry. I've been bounce from doctor to doctor and finally found one that will listen to me. I've been on metformin on and off for the 2 yrs. and my current doctor just put me on clomid. I was on 50mg in early Dec. Nothing happened. I felt my body change, I felt different, but I took ovulation tests and nothing. Neg. preg. test. too.

i dont ovulate and i havve pcos i been on metformin femara and provera for a month now..i havent ovulated this month so we are going to do provera to started my cycle again.. i have tried clomid 50mg-150 for six cycles and didnt ovulated at all..my questions is should i take femara again this month or moved on to injections? how long did it take for these drugs to work for you?

I was supposed to take provera to start my period three weeks after I started metformin then take Clomid 50 mg. I took a pregnancy test first and it was positive! SO yes I did get pregnant. It was a tubal pregnancy and I have to have a shot to remove it but I did get pregnant. Metformin has helped me to ovulate and has given me a regular 30 day cycle. I am just now able to start trying again and have take Clomid 50 mg to make sure that I am ovulating.

Yes same as diabetic meds its supposed to lower insulin levels because its said ppl with pcos have higher levels of insulin and can cause problems also clomid is to get you to ovulate that is all it does then you are able to use ovulation tests time sexual actions and hopefully get pregnant

Hello, I have some questions, I have started taking 1500 mg of metformin and 150mg of clomid daily to increase my chances of getting pregnant, has anyone ever had a success story with those meds combined? Hi, I also have PCOS and was ttc... I spoke with my doc and he started me on metformin and povera. I stopped taking metformin after about a month because the tummy problems never went away! (sorry TMI ) Well I used provera from sept 2010 - May 2011 and did not ovulate once even with 3 of those months including Clomid. Provera does not make you ovulate it just induces a period, metformin lowers your insulin and clomid is for ovulation. Clomid doesn't work for everyone.

I have PCOS and I am trying to get pregnant. I have been prescribed Clomid and am waiting to take them when I have my next period. So far I've been waiting for the opportunity since November. I recently experienced all the symptoms of my period except the actual period. Lots of people haev recommended Provera and Metformin but is it possible just to start taking one or other of these or will I have to wait until I next experience the symptoms?

I took five rounds of clomid ( up to 150mg) and metformin and did not ovulate. So after having surgery I started with tamoxifen (pills) bc clomid is no good for me. But the tamoxifen didn't work very good either that's why I took follistim injections. My doctor had us do a postcoidal test, so we had sex sunday night and then went to my RE monday morning and he took a small sample of my cervical mucus to see how many sperm survived the night.
