Avatar f tn I was bleeding for 3 months straight and my obgyn put me on medroxyprogesterone to make it stop. I started it the day before I was predicted to ovulated. I have been off it over a week and was told when I stopped I should spot and then my period should come normally. I have been having unprotected sex and I am 3 days late on my period. I have no clue what is going on. My questions is has anyone taken this and had this problem?
2051102 tn?1330321233 I was on it in March and started my period as normal but instead of lasting 14 days it lasted 12. Last month I forgot that I was suppose to take the medication and as normal I started but one day early and again it lasted 12 days. I started on the 2nd of this month and my period was suppose to start on the 7th of this month, I am now 5 days late. I have been cramping, nauseous, fatigued, sleepy, eating like I have not eating more, gained weight.
2051102 tn?1330321233 Second to read that other women are going through this is crazy but at the same time a little relieved because I know what to do and I know I can go to a support system such as this and find more about how to take care of this. My fiancée was more freaked out than I was because he look at me and said "are you ever gonna stop bleeding? You bleed more than a gun shot patient. That not only made me mad that he said it, but scared at the same time.
777396 tn?1329791151 She is having me do some tests, but says that I more than likely have PCOS. She wants me to take Medroxyprogesterone (Provera) to get my periods regulated. I first wanted to know about side effects. Second I was reading that this particular drug is not recommended as it could cause some sort of pregnancy issue. Wasn't sure about if that was fact or myth. Any input is appreciated.
1855970 tn?1325827213 I'm kind of glad she didn't do one, but I feel like she should have. She prescribed me provera (medroxyprogesterone) to take the 16th through the 26th of each month. Within a week of stopping the hormone, I should get my period. Here's my problem, yesterday was my first dose... Then last night I woke up around 3am with lower abdominal pressure. I went to the bathroom (pee) and felt a little better. But this morning I still feel a little discomfort.
Avatar n tn Hello, You can take your medroxyprogesterone but since you had Plan B also, so it can cause breakthrough bleeding or irregular periods this time. It should become better the next cycle. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar f tn HI! If you are referring to Provera (medroxyprogesterone acetate) it can be up to two weeks before you get any "results". I usually ask my patients to call me if they have not had any bleeding by two weeks later. At that point, I would probably check a pregnancy test (you may want to do that now!) and go ahead with the Clomid if it was negative. Good luck!
Avatar n tn When he attempted to give me the shot the next morning he was unable to completely empty the syringe as the solution seemed to be jammed. We are guessing that the vaccine may have separated into its constituent parts or something from sitting in the syringe all night. My question is now that I can consider that a failed dose, what can I do next? Can I take another dose right away to make up?
Avatar f tn I finished my 10 day Medroxy pill yesterday night. And was wondering how much longer it would take to get my period. I was irregular and didn't have a period for a long while. My doctor warned my first period would be extremely heavy and could last for up to 2 weeks. I have been cramping but have yet to get a period. Does anyone have any information or personal experiences to answering this question? Please and Thank You.
Avatar f tn It’s always been irreagular so my doctor prescribed MedroxyProgesterone. I have never had an issue with this medication. Till this month I took 20mg for 10days . July 4th-13. It’s been 13 days and nothing . I did call my doctor she said take a hpt, came back negative, I called and let her know so she said okay try again next week and than call me back with what the hpt says. I honestly have always thought I couldn’t have kids I don’t want to get my hopes up. But can anyone else gone thru this?
Avatar n tn Now, you will take the Provera and you will have a period after you finish taking all your pills. To fully answer your question though, if by some crazy chance you are pg, then Provera would cause a miscarriage. But again, being that you've been to the doctor and they tested you, it's about 99.9% sure you're not pg. Good luck!
Avatar m tn Thank you!
Avatar f tn But I want to know does it help you get pregnant in the first trial or is it until several times ? Please help me am really anxious to have a baby but I really don't know how fast this treatment will be. I just don't want to get my hopes to high.
Avatar f tn For about a year and a half though my doctor has just prescribed provera (medroxyprogesterone) . I take it every month to induce AF because it will not come without it. The drug really doesn't help with any of the symptoms but I was told that continually having AF every month is likely to reduce cysts....also after not having AF for several months when it does come it is horrible! So I take it just to avoid that. I have changed my diet to exclude most carbs.
Avatar n tn knows MY body (unlike friends - both cyber and real life), and has special training and experience to help me. What I try to use for my own benefit are questions I take to my dr. every apptmt to discover more and more about MY body and how IT works. The more or better I study my own body (taking note of everything I feel & do related to my cycle) the more experience I get. I hope I made sense and helped some of you!
Avatar n tn if you r truely scared u might be pg on depo, see your dr immediately if you want to keep this might have to take provera to reverse it and not m/c. depo is extremely dangerous to a growing baby......i know, i have lived it. good luck and you r in my thoughts....
Avatar f tn forgot to take the progesterone tabs for 4-5 days, was still wearing the patch. How will this effect me? Is there a way to make up for it or should I just take the patch off for a week to balance things out? I was told that unopposed estrogen would cause an increase risk in uterine cancer but don't know if this includes this sort of time.

237300 tn?1231458318 Does anybody know if there are any side effects to Provera and why she would hesistate to give it to me? Also how long does it take to get your period after you start taking it and how long do you have to take it?
430388 tn?1239588723 At least the way I read it was that you can get pregnant if you choose to wait a little while longer, meaning that it will probably take a little longer to get pregnant with PCOS, but with the correct Dr - who gets bloodwork done to check your hormones, and gets those straightened out w/prescriptions - you should have no problems. I am 38, just diagnosed with PCOS - probably had it since High School, but just not TTC.
1855970 tn?1325827213 I have been taking Medroxyprogesterone (Provera) for 11 months now to induce my period each month. I take 10mg days 16-26 each month. I usually get my period 2-5 days after i stop the medicine. This month however, its day 11 and still no period. For the past week or so I have been experiencing very painful/sensitive nipples, slight abdominal cramping, excessive tiredness, headaches, and nausea.

706727 tn?1229096832 I was aslo on medroxyprogesterone last summer due to PCOS and it gave me a flow for 2 weeks ( My menstrual usually last 5 days) and also had bad cramping. She gave it to me to take 5 days out of every month but after the first time, I did not take it again. I would go to the doctor.
