Medroxyprogesterone hot flashes

Common Questions and Answers about Medroxyprogesterone hot flashes

depo-provera

Avatar n tn Dear mjay, I did some checking regarding dosing of medroxyprogesterone for treatment of hot flashes. After some amount of investigation the information was that 10mg pill daily was the recommended dose. The idea being to use the lowest amount of the medication to take care of the symptom. You should know that the resources quoting the studies of its use for treatment of hot flashes are from 1980 and 1981 journals. There could be more up to date findings but I did not come across any.
Avatar f tn I am 63 years old and 8 Years ago I stopped having periods and haven't had any problems with hot flashes or anything that goes along with menopause. I have never taken any hormones, but just this week my GYN prescrivbed Medroxyprogesterone 2.5 mgs to help keep something "down there" (uterus, endometrium???) from thickening. Do you know how much this would raise my chances of getting breast cancer?
Avatar f tn I recently began HRT for my hot flashes and extreme sweats. they also affect my sleep. I have been taking them a week and see no relief. How long do they take to relieve symptoms??
Avatar f tn I have had my period for 35 days stright, I have frequent migraines not headaches, I'm feeling very weak, am having cold/hot flashes. I am just feeling the most horrible I have ever felt. Is it the birth control or could it be something else? P.S. I have two children, 2 years and three months.
Avatar f tn When I sent the doctor's report to my ob gyn she asked if I had any hot flashes and I said no. She said there was nothing more they could do for me because my FSH, estrodial, LH were all high from that blood test that I had. I haven't had a period since that last one in September (from the progesterone).
Avatar n tn I'm 54 years old and have had all the regular menopause symptoms; hot flashes, sleep problems, anxiety, weight gain etc. My doctor put me back on Avian 28 birth control pills & all these smptoms have stopped. However, I now have the most baffling of all symptoms: My body odor has turned very masuline. Both under my arms and in my female area. I smell like a sweaty "guy" down there all the time - same with armpits.
2035763 tn?1329566863 I am 54 and the same thing is happening. I also have gained about 8 pounds, feel and look crummy. Started hot flashes and a myriad of other menopausal symptoms AND I am taking bioidenticals. They don't have estrogen and I think that has since dissipated, as well. I am miserable and don't have the money for a doctor who specializes in hormones, besides the fact that my insurance covers NONE of this. New symptom this morning? I have thousands of pin ***** red dots all over my body.
Avatar n tn During the course of the hormones (which ended 5 days ago, I started my period today) I've had recurring panic attacks, elevated pulse rates (usually 100-130 bpm, and I could feel my heart beat all throughout my body), rapid cycles of cold sweats then hot flashes, feelings of faintness, and my hands and feet were extremely cold (no matter how many blankets and socks I put on). I realize many of these are a result of the panics, but I would like your opinion on that.
Avatar n tn During my previous years on hormone therapy, I did notice that about 3 days after starting the medroxyprogesterone each month, the hot flashes would come back and I would several times awaken in the middle of the night or in the morning with the feeling that I could not breathe enough air. I would need to get up and do something to burn off some excess energy, go outside or near a window to get fresh air, and then prop myself up in order to get back to sleep after about a half an hour.
158939 tn?1274918797 how low can the TSH levels go before I really have to worry? Bad time to stop HRT - I'm having double hot flashes!! If you see a warm glow coming from somewhere in the Western half of the U.S. it's me.

Avatar n tn Well, these hormones threw me into panics (had not had them before this), hot/cold flashes, hands and feet couldn't get warm, etc. I began my period on Dec. 26. I don't know if anything had to do with the other. The pain et al. had begun during this course as well. I'm 5'2", 150 lbs. Medicines: I have taken Ambien each night (5mg) for about one year. No birth control pills, was on Phentermine (37.5) for about 4 months this year(ended in late Nov).
Avatar n tn I read up on lupron before hand and was absolutely terrified of it. However, it has been a few weeks and I have felt 100%. I had a few hot flashes but they arent as bad as I thought. I just am telling you becuase everyone reacts differently. I have heard that the treatment will resolve your pain for almost 2 years. That isnt why I am doing it. I just need something to keep my endo from getting worse until I have my surgery and then start ivf.
Avatar n tn Mid-December I began a 5 day course of Medroxyprogesterone to kick-start my overies since I hadn't had a period in about 3.5 years. I had been on Depoprovera for 2.5 years and my periods still hadn't resumed after one year off. 280700 tn?1210287416 Unfortunately i was not successful on clomid but I did get all of the wonderful side effects. Watch out for the hot flashes, headaches, and my personal favorites - the mood swings. These side effects lasted alll cycle for me. Also beware that many of the other side effects of clomid nausea, tender breasts, some cramping are also signs of early pregnancy. Good luck and SSBD to you!
Avatar n tn put me on medroxyprogesterone for 10 days. I held off taking it because I really thought I was pregnant. I gave in and took it. 7 days after my last pill I had a lot of pain and cramping and passed a large clot that looked like tissue (I had a miscarrage at age 41) and it looked the same. Let me know what happened with you. This all happened yesterday 1-25-06. Makes me realize next time listen to my body.
Avatar n tn I've been trough all of this & more.I am 32. I used to get mad at the Dr's b/c they would rush me & thow me on a pill that only made me gain weight. I was tipping the scales at 320+. I got to the point that I didn't care anymore. I gave up. I finally got tired of being obese and not being "normal" w/ my period that I decided to see a nutritionist. Here is what I paid a lot of $ for. So far I have lost 40 pounds in 3 months and my period is NORMAL!
Avatar n tn Sore back, cramps in left ovary in Jan-Feb, Hungry all the time, frequent urination, bigger breasts and nipples, montgomery glands are showing, extreme moodiness, hot flashes, occasional headaches, excessive gas :s, thick sometimes dried mucous in panties almost daily, major bloating, sore hips & joints, the tips of my nipples are a whiteish pink & the little bit of skin right around that is dark but not the whole aereola, and since about two weeks ago, I swear I have started feeling lit
Avatar n tn I'm on medroxyprogesterone to have regular periods, i'm ttc, also taking clomid, for the entire time i've been taking medroxy (about a year or less) i've had regular periods, this time its been off, it started the same day its suppose to, but it was brownish discharge in the morning, and then some red later in the day but only when i wiped, and it was also mucousy, and then before bed there was a little more blood but not enough to even wear a pad, when i woke up in the morning there was almost
Avatar n tn I came off it after 18 months and still haven't had a period (my last one was on Yasmin, at the end of May - now it's mid September!) Also, I had hot flashes for the first six weeks after coming off but they've gone now thankfully. I'm 37 and am waiting for a blood test to rule out early menopause - eek! However I think the problem may be down to the side effects of going off this particular new generation pill. I've never had these problems on any other pills I've been on in the past.
