Avatar f tn I was bleeding for 3 months straight and my obgyn put me on medroxyprogesterone to make it stop. I started it the day before I was predicted to ovulated. I have been off it over a week and was told when I stopped I should spot and then my period should come normally. I have been having unprotected sex and I am 3 days late on my period. I have no clue what is going on. My questions is has anyone taken this and had this problem?
Avatar f tn Hello, In case you are having heavy bleeding even after taking medroxyprogesterone then you should get tranexemic acid or ethamsylate prescribed. These should stop bleeding. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar n tn Now, in April I have been since April 13 bleeding from spotting to light and was put on Medroxyprogesterone April 30 - May 9th today is the 12th and I am bleeding heavy .. I was told to start the Lysteda I originally and preferred to take . Why didnt my period stop ? I thought that was the whole thing with Medroxyprogesterone. Now I have to have a biopsy and blood work . What if it doesnt stop will this medicine be used again ?
Avatar f tn This is actually one of the side effects of the drug. Are you taking it on the days prescribed? Are you taking it at exactly the same time for each dose? Those are things that can affect how well the medication works. I would wait about four more days and then contact the doctor. Some medications can take several months to "kick in" but this shouldn't be the case here.
Avatar n tn recently started taking Medroxyprogesterone for heavy bleeding..I've had all the test ultra sounds,d&c,hysteroscopy etc..to rule out cancer..I've been in menopause for 3 years but because of a thick uterus lining I do bleed.. I was taking the medroxypro for 10 days and now day 4 since I've stopped my 10 days I am bleeding very heavy with clots the size of eggs..is this normal?
1855970 tn?1325827213 Hello, You need to rule out this bleeding which can be period bleeding or miscarriage bleeding. You can confirm it by getting your HCG levels checked. In case of pregnancy loss, the value of HCG will return to a non-pregnant range(<5 mIU /L) about 4 - 6 weeks after a pregnancy loss. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
20811884 tn?1518853698 Also, another thing is that I wasn't told that I would have 2 to 3 days of heavy bleeding, cramping, and/or blood clots. I already had a pap smear, pelvic exam, and mammogram done and it all came back as normal results. In addition, I have Epilepsy Seizures, Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder, Stomach Ulcer, and Acid Reflux. I am 40 and just need some questions answered. Is it normal for the MedroxyProgesterone pills to literally flush out my uterus in order for me to have regular periods?
Avatar f tn He put me on medroxyprogesterone for 5 days and right after that i got my period. it lasted for 5 days and stopped and then all of a sudden started again and hasent stopped since. I don't know what is going on! I'm affraid of going thru that again! It was the worst experience ever because i didn't know what was supposed to exacxtly happen and my doctor at the time wasn't helping me by telling me what to expect. I wish you luck!
Avatar f tn But there was 1 time that I had a period for 3 mo straight and it was very heavy!!! I had to take Loestrin 3 times/day for a week to stop my period & I havent had one since then. ( which is about a year since my last period) So my doctor gave me provera (medroxyprogesterone) to take for 10 days to induce a period. I finally got my period a week later and I am on my 6th day now.
Avatar n tn I have been on birth control up till 3 months ago due to irregular periods, I just had a pap smear that came back clear, and started the day after. I bleed heavily for about 4 days and have been prescribed medroxyprogesterone to control the bleeding. I have also just started taking a blood pressure medicine and am on my second week. I am 36 and have a sonogram scheduled on monday to prepare for an upcoming hysterectomy within the year.
Avatar f tn i bled for about 2 weeks straight and then it stopped for about 2 days. the third day i started bleeding again it was more like spotting since it wasnt heavy. i had that straight thru so begining of february 2011 all the way to now. i had a couple of lucky days where it stopped for 3 days and came back.
Avatar f tn After that 60 days I started spotting for 6 days then had 2 weeks of very heavy bleeding (almost 3 weeks all together). This ended on April 4th & then after only 8 days with no period I got another one with light bleeding for about a week & then very heavy bleeding again ever since. The only break I've had is 6 days when I took the Sprintec birth control but I had a bad reaction with nausea & a crazy feeling in my head along with dizzyness. This was so bad I had to leave work.
Avatar f tn It disrupts the menstrual cycle. It also causes irregular bleeding or spotting, heavy or prolonged bleeding, or your menstrual bleeds to stop altogether. Since you have been having menstrual bleeding that is heavy or prolonged you should inform your doctor. This is merely an advice and not a substitute of clinical examination. Consult your attending doctor. Take care!
Avatar f tn I had the same problem when I was 17 and exactly 18 years old were bleeding for a month with heavy pass.ing of clots. Had one DNC at 17 then at 18 had another one with scope to find out what was going on they had found fibroid tumors . Fibroid tumors are a culprit of bleeding. So check into that.
Avatar n tn Depo-Provera injection contains the active ingredient medroxyprogesterone acetate. It disrupts the menstrual cycle. Avatar m tn Suggested taking Medroxyprogesterone to stop my period and take it for 3 weeks then stop so that it helps to regulate my cycle. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thankyou.
Avatar f tn anyways i naturaly miscarried, which lasted almost two weeks. The bleeding stopped for 2-3 days and then it all started again. It wasn't heavy but very light, as if it was my last day of my period. i had that from mid january all the way to mid february. technically it was a month. i went to my gyno and he wanted me to get blood work done as well as to take a prescription.
Avatar f tn I took all the pills and then I start testing for ovulation. 2 days it was testing I tested positive for ovulation I started bleeding and looks like I'm on my menstrual cycle but I don't know what it means can anybody help me.
Avatar f tn Meanwhile, the next day, I start my pack of pergesterone pills. That day all is well, that night I lightly started bleeding again. Next morning I leave for work, by the time I get there and make it to the bathroom I have already filled my heavy flow overnight pad up, bled through my pants and had blood clots bigger than I have ever had. (Clotting is normal for me, I've had golf ball size clots since I started 4 years ago.
1855970 tn?1325827213 The doctor started me on medroxyprogesterone last month. I took 10mg tabs for 10 days, got my period 4 days later with some cramping. This month I got my period two days after stopping the med. Days 2-4 were very heavy with clotting. Today is day 6 and I thought it was nearly over, but I went to the bathroom, I wiped and the toilet paper was solid bright red blood with a big clot. I've also had extreme cramping today as well. What could this mean? I'm really scared!
1855970 tn?1325827213 I went to the doctor and she prescribed me Provera (Medroxyprogesterone). I took it for 10 days, then 3 days after I stopped, I got my 'period'. It was light for the first 2 days, 3rd day was normal, now today (day 4) its heavy and I have huge clots coming out too. Its kind of scary because I've never had this happen before. This morning I felt something come out, so I went to the bathroom and pulled my pants down and there was a clot the size of a ping pong ball on the pad.
Avatar n tn This can cause heavy bleeding, prolonged bleeding, clots, bright red, dark brown bleeding, etc. To get down to the nitty gritty--the problem is a lack of progesterone, and I would ask my patient to take some progesterone. Medroxyprogesterone Acetate should be available in most countries! I would also wonder whether my patient would like to go on oral contraceptives for cycle control--just for convenience. Good luck!
Avatar n tn I have been off the lupron shots for almost 2 months, no signs of period. My doc just give me medroxyprogesterone and I am terrify to take it after reading the side effects. I was diagnose with edo 10 years ago. I had my first lipo surgery about 6 years ago. Went through the shots and clomid. I am so happy to say I have a beautiful 2 years old daughter. We are trying to go for round 2 but it is so fustrating because I cannot get my period. Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn I've had irregular periods for 4 months now. Last period was very heavy and has lasted over 3 weeks. During this time, I've also had 2 occasions whereby I had intense pelvic pain which I needed to remain very still but went away in about 15 minutes. Doctor did ultrasound, determined left falopian tube is blocked at both ends and that I have a cyst 3 1/2 inches wide. He is recommending to have the left tube removed and believes the tube was twisting on those 2 occasions.
427728 tn?1204233418 but ever since last year i've been getting irregular menses. I went to my OB and he perscribed me MedroxyProgesterone and clomid a couple times. After taking it a couple of times I got my menses naturally (without meds), which is really good. This year, January and February I had my menses but only slightly. It wasn't heavy as before. My first day of my last menses was on Feb. 5th 2008.
Avatar f tn He told me that I will have a number of options (birth control, mirena, ablation, or hysterectomy) he told me that I may want to seriously consider a hysterectomy because over time the fibroid will grow and cause discomfort and I already have serious side effects from the heavy bleeding. He took a sample of the uterine lining, told me not to panic and wait for the results to see if it showed polyps.
Avatar m tn She took Period regulatory pills on 2nd Week of Feb for 7 days. She started heavy bleeding from 11th February which continued for 7-8 days straight. The bleeding was full of bad cramps and painful. She also passed a clot. > After this she had her next bleeding on around 5th March which continued for 5 days. > At the end of March she had a bad case of Diarrhea for 7-8 days. This was also accompanied with lower back pain.
Avatar f tn Hi I have been going back and forth to the doctors for the last 2 weeks. I went to see my gynocologist monday because I had spotting and bleeding since July 28th and ended up in urgent care that previous friday. My gyn Dr. wanted to put me on medroxyprogesterone acetate 10mg but while I was in the office they gave me a vaginal biopsy and was scheduled for a ultrasound so I wanted to get my results before I start my hormone medicine.
Avatar f tn liver damage (yellowing of the skin or eyes, nausea, abdominal pain or discomfort, unusual bleeding or bruising, severe fatigue); unusually heavy menstrual bleeding; or persistent pain, pus, or bleeding at the injection site. Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur.
