Avatar f tn I was bleeding for 3 months straight and my obgyn put me on medroxyprogesterone to make it stop. I started it the day before I was predicted to ovulated. I have been off it over a week and was told when I stopped I should spot and then my period should come normally. I have been having unprotected sex and I am 3 days late on my period. I have no clue what is going on. My questions is has anyone taken this and had this problem?
Avatar n tn Now, in April I have been since April 13 bleeding from spotting to light and was put on Medroxyprogesterone April 30 - May 9th today is the 12th and I am bleeding heavy .. I was told to start the Lysteda I originally and preferred to take . Why didnt my period stop ? I thought that was the whole thing with Medroxyprogesterone. Now I have to have a biopsy and blood work . What if it doesnt stop will this medicine be used again ?
Avatar f tn Hello, In case you are having heavy bleeding even after taking medroxyprogesterone then you should get tranexemic acid or ethamsylate prescribed. These should stop bleeding. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar n tn recently started taking Medroxyprogesterone for heavy bleeding..I've had all the test ultra sounds,d&c,hysteroscopy etc..to rule out cancer..I've been in menopause for 3 years but because of a thick uterus lining I do bleed.. I was taking the medroxypro for 10 days and now day 4 since I've stopped my 10 days I am bleeding very heavy with clots the size of eggs..is this normal?
Avatar f tn This is actually one of the side effects of the drug. Are you taking it on the days prescribed? Are you taking it at exactly the same time for each dose? Those are things that can affect how well the medication works. I would wait about four more days and then contact the doctor. Some medications can take several months to "kick in" but this shouldn't be the case here.
1855970 tn?1325827213 Days 4 - present (today is day 9), its bright red with clots and sort of heavy flow, usually heaviest in the mid-morning. Now... earlier this month, after my last period... I started having cramping in the lower abdomen, increased urination, bloating, some spotting, excess gas, lower back ache, extreme fatigue, sore nipples, breasts feel 'heavy', slight nausea. My fiance and I were both so sure I was pregnant (We have been trying!!) But now with all this bleeding, we are so unsure.
Avatar f tn He put me on medroxyprogesterone for 5 days and right after that i got my period. it lasted for 5 days and stopped and then all of a sudden started again and hasent stopped since. I don't know what is going on! I'm affraid of going thru that again! It was the worst experience ever because i didn't know what was supposed to exacxtly happen and my doctor at the time wasn't helping me by telling me what to expect. I wish you luck!
20811884 tn?1518853698 Also, another thing is that I wasn't told that I would have 2 to 3 days of heavy bleeding, cramping, and/or blood clots. I already had a pap smear, pelvic exam, and mammogram done and it all came back as normal results. In addition, I have Epilepsy Seizures, Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder, Stomach Ulcer, and Acid Reflux. I am 40 and just need some questions answered. Is it normal for the MedroxyProgesterone pills to literally flush out my uterus in order for me to have regular periods?
Avatar f tn Years ago when I was taking Levothyroxine I also had very, very heavy bleeding and would sometimes bleed the way you described (off and on, weeks at a time, and very heavy). I have no idea if it was connected to the Levothyroxine or not. It didn't happen all the time but there was a period of time it was happening. It could be any number of things that are causing it.
Avatar n tn Hi there! If the bleeding is not heavy and is not related to your regular periods, you could wait till a few days to see your doctor. In the event of heavy bleeding or symptoms such as dizziness etc, you may need to visit the ER. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar f tn But there was 1 time that I had a period for 3 mo straight and it was very heavy!!! I had to take Loestrin 3 times/day for a week to stop my period & I havent had one since then. ( which is about a year since my last period) So my doctor gave me provera (medroxyprogesterone) to take for 10 days to induce a period. I finally got my period a week later and I am on my 6th day now.
Avatar f tn After having the non stop bleeding from jan 14 thru feb 14 my doctor put me on medroxyprogesterone and that made me get my period and made the bleeding stop for about 9 days. then all of a sudden here it is again! it's like a surprise every morning waking up and seeing that it has continued. I dont know exactly whats going on. the other day i kind of had a little more bleeding than the normal spotting i get and passed 2 clots but it wasnt like a normal period.
Avatar f tn It disrupts the menstrual cycle. It also causes irregular bleeding or spotting, heavy or prolonged bleeding, or your menstrual bleeds to stop altogether. Since you have been having menstrual bleeding that is heavy or prolonged you should inform your doctor. This is merely an advice and not a substitute of clinical examination. Consult your attending doctor. Take care!

Avatar m tn Hi, I had my Mirena IUD removed on February 27 and the next day I started to bleed like a regular period. It has been 7 days and I am still bleeding. The problem is I was bleeding and spotting since Feb. 3. My Flow is Now Quite heavy. Has anyone else had this problem? My Dr. Suggested taking Medroxyprogesterone to stop my period and take it for 3 weeks then stop so that it helps to regulate my cycle. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thankyou.
Avatar f tn anyways i naturaly miscarried, which lasted almost two weeks. The bleeding stopped for 2-3 days and then it all started again. It wasn't heavy but very light, as if it was my last day of my period. i had that from mid january all the way to mid february. technically it was a month. i went to my gyno and he wanted me to get blood work done as well as to take a prescription.
Avatar f tn I took all the pills and then I start testing for ovulation. 2 days it was testing I tested positive for ovulation I started bleeding and looks like I'm on my menstrual cycle but I don't know what it means can anybody help me.
1855970 tn?1325827213 Symptoms of endometriosis include pelvic pain (usually before menstruation but sometimes during intercourse, urination or defecation), sometimes diarrhea or constipation, irregular or heavy menstrual bleeding, sometimes blood in the urine and inability to conceive. Although ultrasound is useful in diagnosing endometriosis, but still cannot definitively diagnose endometriosis.Laproscopy is the only accurate way of diagnosing endometriosis.
1855970 tn?1325827213 I took it for 10 days, then 3 days after I stopped, I got my 'period'. It was light for the first 2 days, 3rd day was normal, now today (day 4) its heavy and I have huge clots coming out too. Its kind of scary because I've never had this happen before. This morning I felt something come out, so I went to the bathroom and pulled my pants down and there was a clot the size of a ping pong ball on the pad. It happened 2 more times in the past 4 hours.
Avatar n tn This can cause heavy bleeding, prolonged bleeding, clots, bright red, dark brown bleeding, etc. To get down to the nitty gritty--the problem is a lack of progesterone, and I would ask my patient to take some progesterone. Medroxyprogesterone Acetate should be available in most countries! I would also wonder whether my patient would like to go on oral contraceptives for cycle control--just for convenience. Good luck!
Avatar n tn And today was the first time for this one, very light pinkish bleeding right after sex. Oh and I have hereditary iron defeciency anemia, and my iron level has dropped drastically quite a few times lately and i'm concerned because it doesnt normally drop that suddenly I've gone to my family doctor a few times regarding this issue, she perscribed the birthcontrol and got an ultrasound towards the begining that came back with a small cyst (1.
427728 tn?1204233418 but ever since last year i've been getting irregular menses. I went to my OB and he perscribed me MedroxyProgesterone and clomid a couple times. After taking it a couple of times I got my menses naturally (without meds), which is really good. This year, January and February I had my menses but only slightly. It wasn't heavy as before. My first day of my last menses was on Feb. 5th 2008.

Avatar n tn I've had irregular periods for 4 months now. Last period was very heavy and has lasted over 3 weeks. During this time, I've also had 2 occasions whereby I had intense pelvic pain which I needed to remain very still but went away in about 15 minutes. Doctor did ultrasound, determined left falopian tube is blocked at both ends and that I have a cyst 3 1/2 inches wide. He is recommending to have the left tube removed and believes the tube was twisting on those 2 occasions.
Avatar n tn My periods would appear roughly three or four days later after the fifth pill and they would be heavy the first three days and become lighter the fourth day. The fifth or sixth days were ususally the last days. So I followed this until I decided I wanted to try to get pregnant June 1998. We tried on our own for several months without success. Dear Rachel: The hormone profile that you provided contains normal values. The ratio of LH/FSH (17.4/4.
Avatar f tn For the past year (perhaps longer but only tested every 3 months this year) my Ferriten level has been at a 4 despite iron supplementation (when able to tolerate) They have done a complete upper/lower GI work up and everything was normal, stated it was probably from heavy menstrual cycles. I had a transvag ultrasound compelted and found a fibroid (3cm) in left side of uterus. I was referred to OB/GYN and went for the appt yesterday.
Avatar m tn Another form of birth control that your girlfriend might really like is the oral contraceptive pill. This would regulate her cycles and prevent that heavy bleeding and cramping that you describe. Good luck!
Avatar n tn Our bodies were designed to take care of themselves, that's why when the doctor tried to give me some pills to make my period come on, I said no, I am not gonna take something to start myself to bleeding and then feel guilty later on if I find out that I was indeed pregnant, ya know what I mean? I'd rather just let my period kick back in on it's own. I started to do a bit of cramping on today and saw a little bloody discharge. Wasn't alot of blood.
