Avatar f tn Hello, Depo may cause irregular bleeding and/or prolonged bleeding .The response varies in every woman. It may take about 3 months for a woman's body to adjust to Depo Provera. If the bleeding is heavy it may be suggested to consult a gynecologist. She may give some medications to control it. Heavy and prolonged bleeding can lead to weakness, hypotension and anemia. Consult a gynecologist. I hope it helps. Best luck and regards!

Avatar f tn Some days it’s light and some days it’s heavy. I don’t know if it’s my period or just withdrawal bleeding from that one Depo shot. We used a condom and it broke at some point and he kept going for like a minute and put another one on till he finished. He says he didn’t *** in me but I am not sure. It’s been 3 days since it happened. Today I started getting bad cramps in my stomach...should I get plan b....

If she has any questions/concerns she should see the provider who is prescribing the medication. Best regards, Dr.

Avatar n tn In December 2013, our family doctor suggested she have the Depo Provera for birth control and to regulate her heavy menses. Mid January she came down with viral like symptoms (aches, pains, fevers, fatigue). This led to severe pelvic pain and pain in her bottom. On 2/22/14, I rushed her to the ER. They said her colon, bladder & intestines were swollen and inflamed. Her colon in fact was close to rupturing. She was admitted, and underwent biopsies which caused her bladder to perforate.

Avatar f tn In October, I got my first shot of Depo-Provera. I know several women on depo and they have all told me they have had the same experience: no periods, no spotting and no other side effects whatsoever. My experience has been horrible. For the first 6 weeks, all was well, no bleeding/spotting and no other symptoms. A few weeks ago, however, I began spotting. Every day it became heavier.

1591347 tn?1299082387 I am a 26 year old woman and about two years ago I stopped getting the depo provera shot. I have a medical history of irregular periods and by the time I stopped getting the depo provera shot I had been taking birth control on and off since I was 18 years old. Currently I bleed almost completely all month long. It stops for a day or two and then starts up again. It's not very heavy about 90% of the time, but occassionally it is heavy. I weigh about 360 lbs.
Avatar f tn for the past 2 1/2 years I have been bleeding abnormally. It started when I first started the depo provera. I stayed on it for 9 months trying to work with my OB GYN to figure out why I was bleeding so much. She put me on estrogen pills because I'm a small person and didn't have the fat cells to store the estrogen. I bled more when I took the pills so I stopped taking them and just got off the shot.
Avatar f tn Pregnancy occurring during the use of the shot is usually an undetected pregnancy before the shot is given. One of the side effects of Depo-Provera is irregular menstrual bleeding. 50% of women will stop getting their period after 1 year of the shot. The period usually returns after stopping the shots, however, it can take 3 months to a year for the effects of Depo-Provera to wear off and fertility to return.
1432824 tn?1283383088 Last monday I had a DNC and they administered a Depo-Provera shot to get the bleeding under control. While those things have helped with the bleeding I have started having other symptoms that I thought were just due to the heavy bleeding but now the bleeding is better the symptoms still persist..I feel dizzy, light-headed, and I have "heay head" where my head seems to be too heavy for my body all of a sudden.
Avatar n tn I would like to say that my doctor actually went to a seminar regarding depo and calcium loss and their is no substantial evidence that state this is true. I've been on depo for nearly 10 years straight with no calcium loss. I actually quit depo because of that rumor, and I gravely regret that. After visiting my doctor, he found this seminar and went just to learn more about my inquiry of the long term effects.
Avatar f tn I've been on depo provera for 15 years and my periods stopped right away. I'm 45 years old and just had a period that lasted 5 days. My question is whether or not depo provera is still working as my birth control choice? Is there a way to know if depo provera is no longer working and if I may get pregnant?
Avatar f tn My bleeding is so bad i would soak through pads. I got on the depo shot and it did help the bleeding alot but I still bleed heavy, just not as many clots and not soaking through pads. My fibroids still bother me very bad. I did some research and came across alot of women who said they took Apple cidar vinegar and it helped and or shrunk their fibroids. Since I have been bleeding for almost 28 days straight, I decided to start taking it since it couldn't hurt.
Avatar n tn I was on Depo provera for 2 years after I came off it for one month I fell pregnant...very lucky. My daughter is now 4 and I have been on depo again for those four years. I plan to start trying for baby number two after our wedding in september this year. I recently was due for my injection but decided to give my body a break so I didn't have the injection.
