Avatar f tn I have fibromyalgia that is well managed - just a flare once in a while. I take bupropion for the depression and it doesn't help. I don't want to play around with antidepressants. I'm going to the gym 4 days a week which helps with the depression. I am sick of doctors I don't know where to turn. I find some doctors cold and uncaring. Does anyone know a doctor in the Boston area that's nice? Any advice for the symptoms is much appreciated. Please help.
Avatar f tn Anyway, I have a lot to say about the contraceptives that I have tried here, and none of them satisfied me at all. Weight gain and depression were the most common side effects I have gone through when taking Loestrin 30 (ethinylestradiol, norethisterone) and once I decided to put the Implanon (etonogestrel) – I could only handle it inside for 7 months and it was awful all the way out. I have never had so many side effects as this one.
135691 tn?1271100723 My symptoms, like a lot of us here, include insomnia, diminished sexual desire, fatigue, headache, lethargy, depression, weight gain, vaginal dryness, stress incontinence... and LOTS of whining. Thank you so much for your help and all that you do, your answers are so very kind and thoughtful...
Avatar f tn The causes of abnormal uterine bleeding include endometrial cancer, myoma uteri, functioning ovarian tumor, adenomyosis, or secondary to oral contraceptive pills intake or depot medroxyprogesterone acetate (dmpa) injection. I agree with the plan of doing a biopsy, hysteroscopy guided or dilatation and curettage. This will help determine the cause of the endometrial thickening. Good luck.
Avatar f tn so doc gave me antibiotics for it. I am to take 5 mg Medroxyprogesterone twice a day for 5 days. He said after I take it if I still have not gotten my period then he would make me come back for blood work. I guess to check for hormone problems or ovaries. I am really scared and worried. This is my first time being late with my period..other than 3 other times and those times I was pregnant with our 3 kids. Symptoms I have had is my whole body will feel hot..
Avatar f tn Similar to the delay in fertility after discontinuation of DMPA, other adverse effects, such as weight gain, depression, and menstrual irregularities, may continue for as long as 1 year after the last injection. The FDA issued a "black-box" warning in November 2004, stating that bone loss from using Depo-Provera "may not be completely reversible" even after stopping the drug.
Avatar f tn Provera is also prescribed to prevent abnormal growth of the uterine lining in women taking estrogen replacement therapy. Other forms of medroxyprogesterone, such as Depo-Provera, are used as a contraceptive injection and prescribed in the treatment of endometrial cancer. Some doctors prescribe Provera to treat endometriosis, menopausal symptoms, premenstrual tension, sexual aggressive behavior in men, and sleep apnea (temporary failure to breathe while sleeping). Avatar f tn Anyway recently I returned to a different doctor and informed him of no periods (6 years now) he was concerned since my uterus should be shedding regularly and informed me of high cancer risk. Current Dr thinks I may have PCOS, he also prescribed Medroxyprogesterone to see if my period will start and ran blood test.

Avatar n tn 5 of the medroxyprogesterone (Provera) with no break at the end of each month. Within two weeks, I began experiencing slight chest and left arm ache, but ignored them since there is no history in my family of heart problems and the symptoms only lasted about a half-minute. Over the two weeks, the symptoms gradually increased in frequency and duration until, on the evening of June 13, I had my first rapid heart incident which lasted for about two hours.

Avatar n tn The old gynecologist I went to years ago, put me on medroxyprogesterone, apparently I had been prescribed to high a dosage which caused me to faint, and I do not care to try it again. Yet this put aside, I know many other people on this medroxyprogesterone prescription and it does works wonders for them.
